To the Village Residents:My name is Jim Hopkins and I am running for Village Trustee.

The vote is March 18, 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Village Hall.It is my hope that you will come out and vote for me.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raisedin Corinth, New York. My wife and I have lived on Hamilton Av-enue for 41 years. I am a Vietnam Veteran and a member of theAmerican Legion. I spent 15 years on the Corinth Central SchoolBoard. While on the Board I helped manage about 20 million dol-lars worth of projects including the construction of the ElementarySchool. The Board was also responsible for a 13 to 15 milliondollar budget each year. I was also elected to the Town Boardand over the years I have served on the Economic DevelopmentCommittee and the Dissolution Committee. I have coached LittleLeague, T-Ball, Youth Hockey, Basketball, Flag Football, and cur-rently serve on the Board of Youth Football. I also volunteer oncea week at the Food Pantry. Hopefully, that gives you an idea ofhow strongly I feel about my community. If I am lucky enough tobe elected I look forward to working with the current Board to findways to reduce taxes.

Some of the ways I think we could start is by taking a look atshared services with both the School and Town. We could doubleour effort to create jobs on the mill property. With all the activityin Saratoga County the time is now. I would take a look at all ourcontracts and make sure we are getting the best possible deal.We need to make sure we are doing all we can do so that peopleare taking care of their property and that absentee landlords areheld accountable. We need to enforce the laws we have on thebooks. I donʼt think we want to live in a gated community but I dobelieve we should respect our neighbor and we should all beproud to live in the Village.

If I am elected I promise to treat people with respect and holdmyself accountable to the taxpayers. If you have any questionsplease call 654-6170.

Sincerely,Jim Hopkins

Cat Litter—A Surprising Solution For Winter Woes

(NAPSI)—When the weather outside gets frightful, many con-sumers will be glad to know that thereʼs a cat-care product thatcan provide an answer to many winter problems—cat litter.

Even those who donʼt own a pet may find they can put a bag ofcat litter to work in unexpected ways.

Here are some tips.

• Add weight to rear-wheel-drive cars for more stability: Forthose cars with rear-wheel drive, putting several bags of cat lit-ter in the trunk of your car will add weight and help maneuverability in tricky snow situations.

Litter can be purchased in bulk in large bags ranging from 10 to 30 pounds in weight or more.Select the quantity and size thatʼs right for the size of your vehicle.

• Create traction for your car in the snow: Keep a bag of cat litter in the trunk of your car soyouʼre prepared in the event of a slippery situation. If your car is stuck or the wheels are spin-ning, pour the litter around your wheels to give them the traction they need to get you out ofthe snow.

To help your tires get a grip, try a conventional non-clumping clay litter, such as Catʼs PridePremium Fresh & Clean. Plus, as an added bonus, it will help keep your trunk smelling fresh.

• Soak up that winter thaw: Eventually, the ice and snow around your home will begin to thaw.Unfortunately, that first promise of spring can often leave you with small leaks and large pud-dles of water. The good news is that once again cat litter can be used to handle the problem.

Try sprinkling some Catʼs Pride Premium or Jonny Cat Original conventional non-clumpingcat litter to soak up leaks and spills. They offer great absorption because they are made fromporous clay. After sprinkling the cat litter to absorb the water, make sure to mop or sweep upimmediately to avoid any slipping hazards.

• Freshen up your snow gear: You can keep your winter gear, including boots and socks, smelling fresher and deodorized by placing scented cat litter into a sachet. Keep it with yourgear or place it in your boots.

Top-rated sedans for the new model year Sedans have long been a popular option among drivers. Sedans are popular family cars and arefrequently seen as safer alternatives to compacts and coupes. Each year, Consumer Reportsand Motor Trend rate the best vehicles in each class, and the 2014 list includes some surprisingsedans. For the first time in 20 years, an American car has topped the list of the best-rated sedans, ac-cording to Consumer Reports. The Chevrolet Impala has seized the top-rated spot away fromthe Japanese and European manufacturers who have dominated the list for two decades. The2014 Impala scored a 95 on a scale of 100. Many car enthusiasts and trend forecasters say thisrating is telling of General Motorsʼ efforts to improve consumersʼ perception of the brand. In oneyear, the Impala went from one of the worst vehicles in thecategory to the best. The Consumer Reports ratings include road test results aswell as safety information. Reliability and owner satisfactionratings provided on older cars are based on surveys frommillions of subscribers. When rating sedans, predicted reli-ability, owner satisfaction, accident avoidance, overall MPG,and other qualities each factor into a vehicleʼs overall score. Sedans are categorized based on size, with vehicles brokendown into small, midsize and large categories. Sedans also are classified by their styles, suchas upscale, luxury, sports, and even fuel-efficient. Overall, sedans remain a popular choice be-cause they can provide a good balance of cost, comfort and efficiency. Many sedans are roomy, quiet and comfortable, making them ideal family vehicles for those who do not want the girth orpotentially bumpy ride of a truck. In addition to the Chevy Impala, Consumer Reports list the following vehicles among their mosthighly-rated sedans:* Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE* Toyota Camry XLE (V6)* Honda Accord LX (4-cyl.)* Honda Accord EX-L (V6)* Hyundai Sonata Limited (2.0T)* Hyundai Sonata GLS (2.4T)* Chevrolet Malibu 2LTZ (2.0T)* Subaru Legacy 3.6R* Toyota Camry LE (4-cyl.)
