    Visual Publicity (DAVP)

    y To perform the functions of a multi-mediaadvertising agency for the Central Government.

    y To act as service agency for Central Governmentministries/departments to meet their publicityneeds including production of media inputs as

    well as dissemination of messages/information.

    y To help Central Government departments informulating communication strategies/mediaplans and help implement them at the grass-rootlevel by providing multi-media support.

    DAVP has a network of offices

    y Two Regional Offices at Bangalore and Guwahati to

    coordinate the Directorates activities in the region.

    y Two Regional DistributionCentres at Calcutta and

    Chennai look after distribution of publicity material in

    eastern and southern regions, respectively.

    y 35 Field Exhibition Units which include seven mobile

    exhibition vans, seven family welfare units and 21 general

    field exhibition units.

    y Photo Division - Photo Division a subordinate office ofMinistry of Information & Broadcasting, is the largest organization in

    the country in the production and storage of Still Photographs.Established in October, 1959. Photo Division has more than 10 Lakhsof negatives/ transparencies and now in digital format right from thePre-Independence time up to the present day which are of archivaland historical value..

    Government, Division has built up an invaluable collection of

    photographs on different aspects ofIndian Life, culture, flora and

    fauna, social and industrial growth.

    y The main function of the Division is to illustrate photographically

    the growth, development and social changes in the country and

    provide visual support to the Media units of Ministry of Information

    & Broadcasting and to otherC

    entral and State GovernmentDepartments including President Secretariat, Vice-President

    Secretariat, Prime Minister's Office, Lok Sabha/Rajya Sabha

    Secretariat and Indian Missions abroad through External Affairs

    yThe Division on an average covers 4000 News and Featureassignments annually. It handled about a lakh ofnegatives/digital images , transparencies. The Division coversphotographically almost all major events of National importanceand also supplies on payment, Black & White and Colour printsto Non-Publicity Organizations and General Public under the

    Division's Pricing Scheme.

    y With the establishment ofNews Photo Network", the Division ispresently covering assignments in digital format and convertingall the conventional images in the digital format and distributes

    photographs at the shortest possible time all over the country forpublishing Government Policies and Programmes.
