Biannual Newsletter from Department of Civil Being the Editor of “KRITI” , The biannual newsletter from civil department. “21 hour Training on Water GEMS”

A 21 hour certified training program is organized for 3rd & 4th year

students. Total 32 students enrolled for this training program. The

event was Co-ordinated by Prof. Prerna Raghava and Prof. Sheelu

Verghese. The main objective was to provide basics of Water Supply

Engineering and design models related to the water distribution sys-

tem

A Seminar on ‘Revit Structure’ was organized on 1 Feb 2018 for the

students of Civil Department. Dr. Seema, Head of Department of Civil

Engineering and other faculties of the department were also present

along with Mr.Jasmeet and Mr. Syed Ahmed from ARK Info solutions.

Inauguration of Student Chapter of Indian Concrete Institute at IPEC

was successfully done on 24th March 2018 in Civil engineering Dept.

Total 41 Students from 2nd,,3rd & final year have become Student

Seminar on ‘Sustainability in Built Environment’

Seminars/Certified Trainings/ workshops

“Seminar on REVIT STUCTURE”

A Seminar on Recent Trends-‘Reaching Sustainability in Built Environ-

ment’ was conducted by Civil Department on 23 Feb 2018 from 10.30

AM to 1.00 PM for Second year (Sections A & B) The co-ordinators of

the event were Dr.V.B Gupta, Prof.Sheelu Verghese and Prof. Satyam

Saxena. The Seminar was chaired by Dr.B.C.Sharma, Director IPEC. The

guest speaker for the seminar was Mr.Rajneesh Sareen, Programme

Director, CSE.

40 Hour training on ETAB (2nd batch)

Certified (MIND BOX) Software training course on ETAB was successful-

ly completed by the Department of Civil Engineering during the Odd

Semester 2017-18 in collaboration with ARK Info solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Course completion certificates for Batch 1 (30 students) and Batch 2

(29 students) were distributed to the students by Dr.Seema, HOD Civil.

Seminar on ‘Overview of Metro Railways’ ‘40Hr Training Program on REVIT STRUCTURES’

A Seminar on ‘Overview of Metro Railways’ was conducted by Depart-

ment of Civil Engineering on 10th April 2018 from 15.00 pm to 16.15

pm for Third year students (Sections A & B about 100 students) in the

Civil Seminar Hall. The organizers of the seminar were Prof.(Dr.) V.B

Gupta , Prof.Arun Kumar, Prof. Sunayana Singh, Prof. Satyam Saxena

& Prof. Abhishek Singh.

Department of Civil Engineering conducted a (MIND BOX certified) “40

hour duration Training Program on REVIT STRUCTURES “ in collabora-

tion with ARK Info solutions Pvt. Ltd. during the even semester 2017-

18. Eleven students from 2nd year joined the course and successfully

Seminar on Water Gems

A one hour seminar was conducted on Water Gems on 19th Feb 2018 in associ-

ation with Professional Trainers (A Unit of Skytop Projects Pvt. Ltd.). The over-

all objective of the Seminar was to provide Basic concept of water supply engi-

neering and to design the water supply distribution system models

Dr. Seema (Professor and Head, Civil) attended a 2 days workshop on

“OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION” organized by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam tech-

nical University, Lucknow under Technical education Quality Improvement

program-Phase III.

Prof. Prerna Raghava from Civil Department Participated in International

seminar on Sustainable technologies for Environmental Management (STEM

-2018) held at Delhi Technological University, New Delhi on 27th and 28th

March 2018.

Prof. Yogendra Sharma and Prof. Tripti Khaduri from Civil Department

attended a one week faculty development program at JSS Academy of Technical education from 21st to 25th may 2018.

Prof. Pallavi Sirohi and Prof. Arun Kumar Attended a one week Facul-

ty development Program on Prefab Construction Technology , Design and

Application at KIET, Ghaziabad under TEQIP-III Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam

Technical University, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow.

Prof. Sheelu Verghese and Prof. Prerna Raghava attended a one

week faculty development program at ABES engineering College, Gha-

ziabad from 7th to 11th May 2018 on “ Modelling and Simulation orga-

nized by department of information technology, ABES Engineering College,

Ghaziabad under TEQIP-III Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University,

Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow.

Prof. Mohit Gupta and Prof. Rishabh Pathak has attended one week

FDP program on Structural Analysis and Behavior of structure under differ-

ent loading condition sponsored by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical Universi-

ty under TEQUIP III from July 16th -21 at Krishna Engineering College

(KEC), Ghaziabd

“Site Visit at Rise Constructions, Ghaziabad”

A site visit for Second year students is organized on 19th and 20th

Feb 2018 by Dr. V.B.Gupta ,Prof. Mohit Gupta Prof. Satyam Saxena

and Prof. Yogendra Sharma. The objective of site visit is to explore

and understand practical knowledge of construction site and to en-

hance the technical knowledge with exposure of site to provide good

guidance on structural concrete that can be used to interpret the de-

signer’s instructions in the form of drawings and schedules.

A site visit is organized for 2nd year students of Civil Department to

Centre for Science & Environment, New Delhi, on 23 Feb 2018. The

Site visit was guided by Shri.Sugeet Grover from CSE, New Delhi. The

main objective for the Site visit was to be familiarizing Students with

Green Building and Energy saving concepts in Sustainable Develop-

ment of Built Environment.

on Midas Software at Hotel Hyatt , New Delhi on 16th May 18.

The seminar was a great opportunity to interact with professional

May 2018

Department of Civil Engineering organized a knowledge

sharing day on 11 may 2018 from 10:00 am onwards

in CAD lab. The event was graced by the presence of

our director, Dr. B. C. Sharma.

He enlightened us with his kind and knowledgeable

words.. The session began with the presentation by

HOD civil Dr. Seema on the topic “Insight into Tension

Stiffening Behavior of RC Tension Members Revealed by

Finite Element Modeling” and continued by the Presen-

tation Prof. Tripti Khanduri, Prof Mohit Gupta, Prof.

Sneha Sandilya and Prof. Sunayana Singh.

Student’s Achievement CIDC Tech Fest 2018 at India Habitat Centre

TEQUIP III sponsored FDP on “Recent Trends in Design & Construction Practices Of Metro Railways”

Department of Civil Engineering, Inderprastha Engineering College, Ghaziabad has conducted 5 days Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Recent Trends

in Design & Construction Practices of Metro Railways” from 25th to 29th June, 2018 under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program ( TEQIP-III),

duly sponsored by Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow.The FDP was inaugurated on 25th June by the Chief Guest & the Keynote Speaker, Prof.

Mahesh Tandon, MD, Tandon Consultants Pvt Ltd. The occasion was also graced by the presence of SS Jain, Chairman Governing Council & Shri RC Jain ,

Chairman Shail Garg Siksha Sansthan both graduates of erstwhile Roorkee, now IIT-R. Dr. Seema, Prof and Head, Civil Engineering, IPEC and convener of

the FDP welcomed the Chief Guest and all the participants and elaborated the objectives and outcomes of the FDP. She emphasized on industry exposure by

arranging 60% industry experts for FDP like DMRC, TCPL, RITES, HILTI, MEGAMETRO Engg. and MIDAS.

3 day Field Workshop organized on “Advanced Geotechnical investigation and surveying technique”

Department of Civil Engineerng in Association with Heico and Janak Positioning system organized a 3 day workshop from 22-24 Jan 2018 on advanced ge-

otechnical and surveying techniques for 15 Faculties, 4 lab staffs , Some interested 3rd year and final year students also participated in the workshop. The ob-

jective of the workshop was to overview the Experiments and instruments in the Geotechnical lab as well as in Survey/GIs Lab.

6 weeks summer internship program on Building Information Modeliing (BIM)

3 weeks summer internship programme on Building Information Modeliing (BIM) was conducted during Jun -July 2018. Mr.Nazir Zaki from Professional Trainers and Design Engineers

Pvt. Ltd was the instructor. 15 students from 3rd Year and final Year attended the course and benefited from the program. Asst Prof Sheelu Verghese and Rishabh Pathak were the

coordinators for the program .
