Power Distribution Panel


The PS-PDP is the smart way to distribute power to your battery chargers in a battery changing system.The unique modular design allows you to pre-wire your battery racks with an easy to install distributionpanel. Each panel is designed to accommodate four, six or eight chargers with one AC input.

By eliminating the need to pull wire from the main electrical panel to each charger, you will reduce yourneed for large breaker panel systems and all of the circuit breakers needed to run such a system. We havefound that it is less expensive to wire a system using the PS-PDP as this work is done in the field on a timeand materials basis.

29 CFR 1910.132(d) PPE hazard assessment and equipment selection.

The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards arepresent, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). If such hazards are present, orlikely to be present, the employer shall:

(i) Select, and have each affected employee use, the types of PPE thatwill protect the affected employee from the hazards identified in thehazard assessment;

(ii) Communicate selection decisions to each affected employee; and,(iii) Select PPE that properly fits each affected employee.

29 CFR 1910.151 Medical services and first aid.

(a) The employer shall ensure the ready availability of medical personnelfor advice and consultation on matters of plant health.

(b) In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity tothe workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid. Adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available.

(c) Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injuriouscorrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushingof the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use.

29 CFR 1910.178(g) Changing and charging storage batteries.

(1) Battery charging installations shall be located in areas designated forthat purpose.

(2) Facilities shall be provided for flushing and neutralizing spilled electrolyte, for fire protection, for protecting charging apparatus from damage by trucks, and for adequate ventilation for dispersal of fumes from gassing batteries.

(3) [Reserved](4) A conveyor, overhead hoist, or equivalent material handling

equipment shall be provided for handling batteries.(5) Reinstalled batteries shall be properly positioned and secured in the

truck.(6) A carboy tilter or siphon shall be provided for handling electrolyte.(7) When charging batteries, acid shall be poured into water; water shall

not be poured into acid.(8) Trucks shall be properly positioned and brake applied before

attempting to change or charge batteries.(9) Care shall be taken to assure that vent caps are functioning. The

battery (or compartment) cover(s) shall be open to dissipate heat.(10) Smoking shall be prohibited in the charging area.(11) Precautions shall be taken to prevent open flames, sparks, or electric

arcs in battery charging areas.(12) Tools and other metallic objects shall be kept away from the top of

uncovered batteries.

1910.178(g)(6) refers to diluting pure acid with water. A properly designed,manufactured and maintained lead-acid battery already contains diluted acidand therefore it is safe to add water to the battery.

The PS-PDP is the smart way to distribute power to your battery chargers in a battery changing system.The unique modular design allows you to pre-wire your battery racks with an easy to install distributionpanel. Each panel is designed to accommodate four, six or eight chargers with one AC input.

By eliminating the need to pull wire from the main electrical panel to each charger, you will reduce yourneed for large breaker panel systems and all of the circuit breakers needed to run such a system. We havefound that it is less expensive to wire a system using the PS-PDP as this work is done in the field on a timeand materials basis.

29 CFR 1910.132(d) PPE hazard assessment and equipment selection.

The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards arepresent, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). If such hazards are present, orlikely to be present, the employer shall:

(i) Select, and have each affected employee use, the types of PPE thatwill protect the affected employee from the hazards identified in thehazard assessment;

(ii) Communicate selection decisions to each affected employee; and,(iii) Select PPE that properly fits each affected employee.

29 CFR 1910.151 Medical services and first aid.

(a) The employer shall ensure the ready availability of medical personnelfor advice and consultation on matters of plant health.

(b) In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity tothe workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid. Adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available.

(c) Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injuriouscorrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushingof the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use.

29 CFR 1910.178(g) Changing and charging storage batteries.

(1) Battery charging installations shall be located in areas designated forthat purpose.

(2) Facilities shall be provided for flushing and neutralizing spilled electrolyte, for fire protection, for protecting charging apparatus from damage by trucks, and for adequate ventilation for dispersal of fumes from gassing batteries.

(3) [Reserved](4) A conveyor, overhead hoist, or equivalent material handling

equipment shall be provided for handling batteries.(5) Reinstalled batteries shall be properly positioned and secured in the

truck.(6) A carboy tilter or siphon shall be provided for handling electrolyte.(7) When charging batteries, acid shall be poured into water; water shall

not be poured into acid.(8) Trucks shall be properly positioned and brake applied before

attempting to change or charge batteries.(9) Care shall be taken to assure that vent caps are functioning. The

battery (or compartment) cover(s) shall be open to dissipate heat.(10) Smoking shall be prohibited in the charging area.(11) Precautions shall be taken to prevent open flames, sparks, or electric

arcs in battery charging areas.(12) Tools and other metallic objects shall be kept away from the top of

uncovered batteries.

1910.178(g)(6) refers to diluting pure acid with water. A properly designed,manufactured and maintained lead-acid battery already contains diluted acidand therefore it is safe to add water to the battery.
