Audio/ Audio Engineer Job Role: The main purpose of the Audio Engineer is to create a game theme song and make soundtracks for the game and sound effects and even voices for the game characters. Everything to do with sound is to do with the Audio Engineer. Identify three key qualities to succeed at this Job Role: Being able to compose and write music, and also having a good feel for the atmospheres of games and the worlds that the game take place in. Have sound engineering skills, allowing you to use programs to make the sound effects and music necessary for the game. 2 Different ways to enter this career You can go to university in many places and study a sound engineering course and get a degree to help you get into this line of work, and then join a small company and build your way up. If you feel confident that you can already perform at the level of someone working in a company, or better, you could do your own work from home and put it into a port folio and take it directly to a game company and show them your work.

Gustavo made the music for the game The Last Of Us. The music in this game makes for a big part of the game. The game would have been a completely different game if it had different music. Most AAA games have their music made before the game is made, which gives the game a really mechanic feel. Gustavo said he wanted to see the game being played before he made the music for it, so he could understand the games atmosphere and get into the story, and then make some fitting music. This really comes across when playing the game. Big AAA games have music, which seems to be forced and made on a computer. Gustavo stands out because he makes his music on a guitar as he watches the gameplay of the
game. The theme of the game is post-‐apocalyptic, and the instrument used to make the majority of the ambient music, is his guitar, which is basic, just like the things you would find in the world of the game.
