sYour Ramadan roundupThis Ramadan, a variety of events took place across Emaar communities under our campaign, ‘Ramadan for All’. Under this initiative, we focused on promoting a responsible society and nurturing a sense of community and solidarity during the Holy Month through a plethora of activities and events which included: • Charity drive: Thanks to your generosity, over 14,000 kilograms of donated clothing was collected across cloth banks located at community mosques and apartment complexes.

• Daily Iftars at mosques: Daily Iftars were a regular feature at all our community mosques and prayer halls have been serving up an average of 3,000 Iftar meals in a day.

Pedestrian crossing signalat PalmeraAs part of community safety initiative a pedestrian crossing warning light has been installed near Palmera 3 gatehouse as a pilot to improve the visibility and safety of our residents using the road. The warning light which has been placed strategically to alert drivers of the pedestrian crossings will help improve safety of pedestrians especially during evening hours. As a sustainable initiative these poles are solar powered.

Summer Clean Up DriveOur Summer Clean up drive has started every Saturday from the month of June and will continue until the end of September to focus on all those jobs above and beyond the day to day care of the community. A variety of activities are carried out such as the rectification of cracks and paint touch ups to name a few. In addition, all garbage and waste items from the common areas are collected and disposed off appropriately.

The initiative is centered on improving the overall aesthetics of the community and to focus the team at a time when working hours is generally shortened due to the midday break and Ramadan.

Calling all residents to participate in our friendly seven-a-sidesoccer tournament from25 November 2017 onwards.

The event will be held at the ICC Academy, Dubai Sports City.

03Cleaned and improved Al Reem LakeThe lakes in Arabian Ranches are designed to serve two purposes, one being aesthetic and the other, functional. While the aesthetic intention is obvious, did you know their functional purpose is flood prevention? The lakes are interconnected and designed to receive storm-water inflows during the rainy season and therefore prevent flooding within the community. The Al Reem Lake is a major source of irrigation water, serving most of the community landscaping.

Sludge comes from organic materials, drop to the bottom of the lake, creating layers and grow over time. Reducing lake sludge early will take out the various types of organic matter that lie at the bottom avoiding it from thickening and affecting the lake water quality.

In order to improve the lake quality, sludge removal work is currently in progress at the Al Reem Lake and will be continued at the Palmera Lake thereafter. Once completed, this will add to the holding capacity of the lake and enhance the quality of water.

Palm tree replacement inMaster CommunityTo preserve greenery in the community, 35 aged, non-performing and missing palm trees were replaced in the common areas. Each new tree installed was thoroughly inspected by our landscaping experts to ensure it was disease and pest-free, improving the entire outlook of the community.

04 New pathway near Saheel gate 4A brand new pathway has been constructed at Saheel gate 4 exit leading towards the La Avenida 2 community providing ease of access to pedestrians living in the community. This is a community improvement where by extending the existing pathway has provided pedestrians a safe exit out of the community.

Why are the tree trunks white? Many of the tree in the community have been treated with copper based fungicide targeting fungal infections. This is not paint, nor permanent, and the coating will wear off in time.

How do I know if my trees need fungicide too?

You may check your trees for the following symptoms which may signal a fungal infection:

• Mold/fungus growth at the base of the trunk, especially near the soil• Sap oozing from the branches • Unseasonal sheading of leaves

Smooth access out of the communityWe are pleased to inform you that an additional slip lane has opened near Palmera & Mirador La Coleccion community, easing the exit out of Arabian Ranches. The opening of the exit lane comes as a welcome relief for commuters who leave early to school or work. This exit gives residents easy access to Al Barsha, Al Khail road.

05 Community Awareness CampaignWe are encouraging residents to help build a safer, cleaner and caring community together. The Community Awareness Campaign was launched on 30 April 2017, highlighting key issues of parking, speeding, car washing, effective pet management, dumping and trash management in the community. With simple tips, residents can help be sustainable and avoid violations and other dangers as well as ensure a safer environment for themselves and others. The campaign focused on three areas:

• Building a safer community together by parking responsibly, curbing speeding in the community and avoiding draining water through car washing in the common areas.

Building a caring community together by cleaning up after your pet using waste disposal bags, keeping them on a leadat all times and preventing them from barking excessively.

Recognizing our community workersOn a daily basis service provider staff work relentlessly in the community through the extreme weather conditions to make the community a better place to live in. Outstanding workers were rewarded and commended for their consistence performance in the community at an awards ceremony held on 03 May at the Alvorada open park. Service provider representatives were selected across landscaping, housekeeping, MEP and security services teams. They were awarded certificates and cash prize in recognition of their extra efforts to maintain the community in pristine condition.

LED conversionEnergy conservation plays a key role in reducing utility costs and greenhouse gas emissions. As part of our Energy Management program, there are plans to introduce socially and environmentally sustainable products and solutions in Arabian Ranches communities. In fact, more than 600 street lights in Arabian Ranches Master community have now been retrofitted with energy efficient LED lamps. Apart from improving lighting in the community and saving on utility bills, these new lamps are also expected to reduce maintenance costs since they have a lifespan of five years.

As our green initiative, we are converting the conventional bollard lights to LED. As part of initiative, we will be installing LED bollards within individual identified communities as a first phase. Furthermore we will also be replacing High Pressure Sodium (HPS) street light lamps in the master community with LED lamps. In addition to this additional garden LED lights are also being installed as a pilot project in the Al Reem horsetrail area.
