The Reunion Party
Finding An Agent That’s Right For You
Over the last hundred years, man has been
able to make incredible strides in almost
every area of our lives. One thing that we
have not been able to manufacture is time. It
is constant and remains irrespective of every-
thing else. In the new world, those who are
able to save time by becoming more efficient
will be the ones to become rich, not in terms
of money, but rich in terms of the quality of
life that they will enjoy. They will be able to
spend more time with their families or have
time to pursue other things that are important
to them.
More people are taking time off to enjoy the
fruits of their labour. They work hard and
play even harder. According to Tim Ferris,
the author of the very popular “The Four
hour work week”, we can save time by
eliminating things that are a distraction to us.
Things like constantly checking and replying
to e-mails, several with no consequences if
we don't even respond to them.
Surfing the internet or constantly checking
the status of our friends on Facebook. In the
new world, having time to pursue our pas-
sion will be priceless.

This magazine is about people achieving their goals and having a huge dreams and fulfilling
them. I am happy to tell you that I have managed to make my long term dream as a child to
come true. I have always wanted to write a book and tell some outrageous stories. The book
is now available at www.amazon.co.uk. And now that I have written one, I have started to
work on others. So, a big thank you for some of you who have been keeping me busy with
your orders. For those interested in finding out more about life in a boarding school in Nige-
ria, well, here is your chance. Will this book get me into the Rich list in the foreseeable fu-
ture, at the current rate of sale, yes, if I live to be 4000 years old, may be!!!. Below is a sum-
mary of what the book is about.

Investment is a risky business. To be candid, any business
is risky, life itself is a risk. Many people have been affected
by the massive collapse in share and property prices. So
once beaten, twice shy. Well!!! Yes, but life is about taking
risks and those who rush to make quick and easy money,
also find that they are taking even bigger risks. I bought
my first house over 20 years ago and since then I have
added to the portfolio and even done some occasional dis-
posal, but when property became more like stocks to be
‟piled high and sold off quickly‟, I knew that it will all end
up in tears in the end.
You remember those ‟free seminars‟ followed by personal
coaching by property experts who have not owned a single
property in their lives? Well, these same „geniuses‟ are
back selling lease options, forward purchase options etc.
The world of property and investments will never be the
same again, but very few investments are as solid as prop-
erties. It does not matter what we do, we all need a place to
put down our roots, like food and other basic necessities,
we need a place to live.
So, is it time to buy yet. The time is always right to buy
properties for those interested in being in the race for the
long run. As soon as the banks start lending again, let the
game begin. There are incredible bargains to be had for
those who are brave. You do not get into the fortune list of
1000 richest people by being a chicken. Many sure the
price is right and be ready to do the hard graft, there is no
quick way to financial freedom.

The Magazine for people with passion
Here is the scenario; 9 boys and three girls left home when they were only 10 years old to
attend a boarding school, life was tough as it was the first time they had been away from
home. They formed a bond that was to last them for the rest of their lives. They had
dreams, but their school was a second rated one, where they were not even supposed to
make it to Universities, but they made a promise to achieve their dreams and meet up after
30 years to compare notes and tell the best stories they had ever heard in their lives. Did
any of them achieved their dreams?. Did their friend, a hunchback make it to being a
medical doctor and what stories did they come up with when they met? One of the girls
nearly became the most powerful woman in the world, so what happened? Did any of
them fulfill their mega dreams. Place your order as the books are running out of stock
quicker than amazon can fulfill the order, delivery will be with a couple of days. Happy
reading and I look forward to your feedback.

The very influential Sunday Times Rich list came
out on Sunday, 8th of May. There are some nota-
ble new entrants and some movements up and
down the list. My favourite billionaires on the list
is Dame Mary Perkins and her husband. The cou-
ple with a vision of the future met whilst at uni-
versity and turned Specsavers into a multi-million
pound business and making a few pounds for
themselves on the way. One thing that is constant
from the list is that most of the successful people
are the ones who do things they love. So, to get
into the list, continue to look for your passion.
The list is also interesting for many reasons, you
can get rich from almost anything and whatever
your background is including marriage, inheri-
tance and just by being really smart.
Globally, the new rich are those with ideas as new
as just starting facebook, Amazon, e-bay etc.
Another favourite of mine is Xiuli Hawken, a
native of China, who moved to the UK and returns
back to china frequently to build shopping malls.
With several properties within her portfolio, she is
now estimated to be worth over $2 billion.
Are you on the Sunday Times Rich list?

One business that you can start for less than
£500 is the home inventory business. The
business allows you to take stock of valu-
ables at home with the help of a camcorder,
digital camera and a home inventory soft-
ware. This type of business can also be
flexed so that it fits with your lifestyle. A
perfect type of business for those interested

Welcome to our 3rd edition. In this edition, I
am glad to introduce a new team member.
Peter Dixon, who will be helping to design
future edition of this magazine. He read
graphic designs at Uni and can help to de-
sign flyers and artwork. Also this month, we
welcome a guest writer, Mimi, who will be
telling us about Bulgaria and all that is good
about that country. Bulgaria is emerging as
one of the quiet tiger countries of Eastern
Europe and one of the places to keep an eye
on. Smart holiday makers are now enjoying
the tranquillity of the coastal cities of Bulgaria,
where their money are likely to stretch further.
For many of you who are followers of Oprah
Winfrey, the chat host supremo is cranking up
the air miles on her last season. One thing I
picked up from her show is that she enjoys
giving as much as she does about making a
difference to our lives. Best of luck Oprah.
The economy continues to dominate the
headlines as many businesses and individu-
als struggle to make ends meet, but in all of
these, more people are coming up with ingen-
ious ideas to save money. Parents are now
willing to send their children to other countries
in Europe where the tuition fees and the cost
of living are lower than the UK. More people
are cycling or car sharing than ever before.
Each time I think about the incredible sacri-
fices that some people made for the benefits
now being enjoyed by many of us, I have to
doff my hat for their tremendous dedication.
Men and women with great beliefs and cour-
age in a society that treated others unfairly.
Many things have been written about those
pace setters that should not be regurgitated
here, but I want to mention a few people be-
cause of their single individual beliefs.
Martin Luther King Jnr, who was ready to
sacrifice his life so that black people in Amer-
ica would not have to stay permanently at the
back of the freaking bus. Nelson Mandela and
his cohorts who fought for equality for their
people against all odds, William Wilberforce
against slave trade, Oscar Schindler who
risked his life to safeguard the Jews during
WW2 and many others. Those fights were
never easy, the journeys were rough, the
terrain inhospitable, but they had a focus, that
is a premise for a better world that businesses
can now operate in.
Several of these incredible men and women
did not want recognition, they didn't do it for
money, or personal gains, but a belief that
future generation would benefit from their
struggle. A big appreciation on those people
whose shoulders many of us now have the
freedom to make things happen.
We cannot but mention the Royal wedding
and the tremendous boost that must be for
many small businesses across the UK. I shall
refrain from mentioning Pippa Middleton and
her „tremendous assets‟, but wish the Goring
hotel where the Middleton family stayed dur-
ing the ceremony for their canning business
sense and turning the suite where the Middle-
tons stayed into a money spinner for them.
Until the wedding, very few outside of the very
rich have heard of the hotel, now it charges
more than twice the rate charged by the oth-
ers for the suite.
Finally, I hope you will enjoy some of the new
ideas that we will be sharing with you in this
edition. Happy reading.

At a time when most young people are being castigated for not doing
things well or with a very high percentage of them still looking for work,
Lisa Newton is an exception to the rule. Born in Nottingham, UK, the
young entrepreneur wanted to live in London because of the opportuni-
ties. Her chance came when she went to the University of Middlesex,
she graduated with a first class honours degree in Accounting with mar-
keting-ok, she is very smart.
After her M.sc in Investment management, she knew she didn't want to
work for anyone else, especially not in the city, so she started her own
book-keeping company, specializing in helping new and small busi-
nesses. She has published many books and articles and was featured in
the accounting technician institute‟s (AAT) brochure.
Lisa is successful author, an award winning entrepreneur and still under
30. She said she was influenced by such books as “Rich dad, poor dad”.
The company that she started in 2004 has now grown to the extent that
she is now franchising the book keeping business– Whao!!.
One thing that strikes anyone talking to Lisa is that she is not afraid of
taking chances or hard work for that matter. She is also a lot of fun and
not your average accountant. She puts the marketing part of her degree
to good use.
For more information about this incredible talent lady, check her out on
her website. Her Franchise starts at £1500, so definitely one for those
wanting to get into book-keeping with the support of this dynamic lady.
Lisa puts down her success to her passion for what she does and being
able to read what the market really wants. At a time when most account-
ants concentrate on the „sexy‟ side of accounts, she has focused on the
simple things, helping small businesses to keep their books in shape.

The best way to find out
about where to go on holiday
is to ask the locals. So, in
this issue, We have asked a
local to tell us the best things
about Bulgaria and where
the locals go on holiday
away from the beaten tracks.
First, a little information
about a country now gaining
a reputation as the place to
go on holiday.
Editors Note:
Bulgaria is surrounded by Romania to
the north, Greece and Turkey to the
south. The Sunny beach, Bourgas and
Golden sands are some of the best
resort locations to enjoy and mix with
other tourists, but to really enjoy what
this beautiful country has to offer, then
a trip to Sofia is a must for the city
explorers, the mountains provide a
welcome for those ready to explore
more than just the beaten tourist tracks.
The people are kind and pleasant and
has some famous people for a country
of 8 million people.
To some entrepreneurs nothing
wets their appetites more than a
chance to combine business and
pleasure, especially in some of the
Eastern European countries where
wages are low, weather is good
and the people work hard. Thanks
to the internet, you can now setup
a business anywhere you want in
the world and operate a multi mil-
lionaire business from the comfort
of your home, especially, if its in a
wonderful location, the house is
big, infrastructure and staff costs
are low. For most people who
work on the internet or write for a
living, Bulgaria is paradise
Mimi Stoyanova– Our expert on Bulgaria
Bulgaria Bulgaria is not only my destiny, it is my Homeland, and it is my treasure. This is the place I was born, where I took
my first mouthful of air. I love this country and believe is the most beautiful and wonderful land. Unfortunately,
not much is known of Bulgaria in other countries. People even can‟t find our land on the map. They can‟t feel the
magic of our music; see the talent of our children, the beauty of Bulgarian women, and the creations of our poets.
Our literature, our dances, our sportsmen are wonderful and I hope someday other people will understand that. The
first computer was made by a Bulgarian, an event that will stay in the history for ever. Our culture is our richness.
Our poets write so beautiful things, so touching the soul. Bulgarian music is loved by many people far away from
us. .
The people and culture make Bulgaria special, combine this with the magnificent scenery, nature, history, food and
the weather, you a great country that is more than just an holiday destination.
It is a small country, but for a tourist it is like a little paradise, its people are kind and hospitable. Tourists love the
seaside and the sea, the climate and the fascinating nature. The combination of mountainous areas and seaside is
the charm of this country.
Along the coast there are so many fascinating resorts, camping sites, etc., where a foreign visitor can relax. You
can go to the Pobiti Kamuni (Petrified Forest) site – with strange rock columns which are said to have been at the
bottom of a sea centuries ago. The mountains are also beautiful – Rila, the Rhodopes, the Balkan. A foreigner can
relax in the mountain resorts of Borovetz, Pamporovo and others. And last but not least, in Bulgaria you can see
different and interesting traditions , for example at Christmas when boys go round people‟s homes and wish them
health and luck, and hosts treat them with different things. For those interested in city breaks, Sofia is littered with
historic buildings. We hope to see you in Bulgaria soon
Option congue nihil imperdiet doming quod
Bulgaria is a country rich in tradition,
most of which originated from pagan
times. The celebration of „Baba Masta‟ on
the 1st of March to signify the beginning
of summer. The best times to visit Bul-
garia apart from the sunny summer
months are days like 3rd of March, the
national day or 6th December, Nikulden
is "The Day of Saint Nicholas" - one of
the best celebrations during the winter
months. Easter is another great time to
visit Bulgaria, to be honest, Bulgarians
love to party and enjoy themselves, so
every opportunity is turned into celebra-
tion. The coastal town of Bourgas is
where most foreigners hang out and soak
the beautiful Mediterranean sun near the
sea.
It is definitely worth a visit for
this former Eastern block coun-
try, where in some villages, like
is still very rural indeed.
As my friend once told me,
„don't visit Bulgaria because of
the weather, do it because of the
people‟.
Education vs Trade
This magazine is about dreams without
limits, so here are some notable reasons
to keep your creative juices alive.
No profession or trade can exclusive
make you money. What makes money is
the ability to live the dream through
your passion.
Being successful means different things
to all of us, from having money to lei-
surely getting up out of bed or just doing
what one fancies anytime, cruising the
waves or going on holiday. Life can
change at any time for people with
money. Take the case of Simon Cowell;
one moment he was trying to have a leg
over with „wanna be‟ pop stars, the next
he was flat broke and back home with
his parents. Invited to judge a talent
show, spoke his mind and he is now
richer than the pop stars he manages. JK
Rowling is another one, rejected 12
times for a story line the experts believed
lacked the right ingredients for success,
she moved from an unemployed single
mum to a multi-millionaire writer in less
than 5 years.
Recently, the cases of Susan Boyle and
Ted Williams, two people whose voices
have catapulted them from pure obscu-
rity in a wink has proved that people can
indeed keep their hopes alive.
For those people who may lack the per-
spective and dream to make things hap-
pen, here are a few people who have
broken new grounds through being good
at ordinary things that we all can relate
to. Anthony Robbins loves motivating
others, the former salesman combines
that act of self promotion and motivating
others into a business worth several mil-
lion dollars a year through personal
coaching, presentation and book sales.
When you look at the rise of the Pente-
costal churches and their charismatic
leaders in Africa, US and Europe, one
cannot but give credit to their vision to
uplift their congregation rather than tell
them about the bible. The slant is re-
sponsible for the rise of these churches
and the demise of the more traditional
ones.
Remember you can be an entrepreneur
without jumping into business head first.
Uni vs Tools
Anyone with older parents might have been hammered about the importance of
education as a way to prosperity and rightly so in those days. But things are
changing. Education provides a knowledge base for children to build on as they
get older. Many parents still insist on children learning a profession; medicine,
law, accountancy are some of the popular ones. With the high cost of education
likely to hang around new graduates like a mill stone around their young necks
for many years to come, some parents have mellowed a bit and may just allow
their kids to try out the sports.
We must not completely write-off children who are not good academically or
force them to stay in schools longer than they need to be. The kids who wanted
to become chefs, artists, carpenters, electricians did not stand a chance in those
days. Thanks to people like Richard Bronson and Jamie Oliver, we are allowing
the kids the freedom to explore themselves more.
There is no denying that having an education until at least age 18 is good, but the
focus needs to move from just studying anything at the university to entrepre-
neurship and getting the very best out of our children.
These days; graduates find it difficult to get jobs, so setting them up from such a
young age to develop a passion for something helps them to look for alternatives
rather than just filling forms and sending out CV’s. By the way, not everyone will
become business owners, but encouraging them to develop an interest in what-
ever they really want to do will make them happier adults.
Do they really need to go to universities, not necessarily, if they have a passion
for something that can make them a living. For parents, it can be tough to decide
whether their children’s interests are just a passing phase or that the talent they
have is enough to sustain them when they get older. A very tough call for many
parents indeed.
The bailout and collapse of many organisations
especially the banks has given a boost to the
little organisations like the micro finance or-
ganisations. Profit has grown as the owners of
such organisations have been feted as heroes,
against the greed of the larger organisations.
They have thrived whilst larger organisations
have failed.
Community lending or social lending is now a
popular business from organisations like
www.zopa.com, that allows members to lend to other
people, to the social lending organisations who work
mainly in the Africa and Asia. So where large organi-
sations have failed, the small ones have stepped in and
the doing a great job. The success of micro finance in
Asia and Africa shows that people are looking for capi-
tal to control their own destinies rather than handouts.
Is this an opportunity for you as well More about how you can help in the next edition

The world of Formula 1 and the continued
domination of the Red Bull team is some-
thing of a surprise. If Red Bull was a per-
son, others will be demanding a urine test
by now. The Red Bull boys (Sebastian
Vettel and Mark Webber) are flying and
contrary to the arguments about team
order last year, the young German is de-
stroying the opposition including Jason
Button and Lewis Hamilton from
McLaren. Lewis who only a couple of
years ago was being praised as the young-
est ever world champion has now been
overtaken by Sebastian Vettel and at the
moment trailing the German wonder boy.
It is too early to write off the other con-
tenders this year, but Vettel‟s acceleration
is putting the opposition in a spin and like
Lewis may have to do a couple of his
specialist „donut moves‟ on the young
champion to get a chance of catching up
with the him.
The power of dreams
Most people start slowly, keeping
their day jobs whilst they try out their
passion, whether it is helping
neighbours to keep their gardens for a
few pounds a time and later into a full
-fledged garden centre. It really does
not matter, it is about elevating our
standards and not settling for the
status quo. From landlords who enjoy
buying houses, especially in a de-
pressed market, to building a whole
empire out of his hobby of renting out
small rooms and apartments. At the
beginning, it is better to keep costs
low, so work from home, use you old
computer or even a book to keep the
records.
Have a picture of what you want to
achieve, make the dream as big as you
can imagine. You have to plan for
success, then work your way towards
it as if it is familiar grounds. Every
month, we will have the pictures of
the most beautiful things that money
can buy or people who have achieved
things through their own efforts.
Those are the heroes that we need to
emulate. There is no point in having a
dream with a plan, cut that plan into
bits that you can easily achieve over a
short period of time.
Mark each success and keep going. If
the dream is to pay off your mortgage,
work out how, don‟t worry if you can
only overpay by £20 a month, it is to
build a momentum over a period of
many years. It‟s a journey of a thou-
sand steps, it may have to start slowly.
Whatever happens, keep the fire burn-
ing and keep yourself motivated. If
you need support, surround yourself
with people who will encourage you,
find yourself a life coach, but what-
ever happens, keep yourself in top
condition.
Keep fit, there is no point in having
money and then suffering from ill
health just as you are about to hit big
time.
Check out what success can buy you,
a nice private island is one option.
Find something that motivates you
and keep that picture with you.

Half man, twice the spirit
Get a coach, get a life
Johnson is now Chairman and CEO of MJE, his
business that includes real estate, fitness centres,
restaurants etc. He sold his Starbuck franchise and
Lakers investment interest for over $100m.
He has been supporting HIV/AIDS aware and
prevention programs having been diagnosed with
the disease since 1991.
Johnson typifies the same „never give
up‟ spirit that he showed on the court,
his empire is now believed to be worth
in excess of $700m, not bad for the son
of a GM assembly worker and a school
custodian.
He is also a TV pundit and basket ball
commentator, but he will also making
impact by trying to encourage business
such as Starbucks to engage with mi-
nority groups. Despite the sale of his
Starbuck investment, he still works
with them on many minority interest
projects.
Most people would say that MJ has
touched more lives in the last 20 years
than the previous 20 when he was a
dazzler on the court. So, he is not only
a wonderful sports man, but a very
smart businessman.
Here is an example of deal in Liverpool, UK
Formula for Success
I have read many books about different for-
mula for being rich. From reducing the num-
ber of hours you do to being a wonderful goal
getter. Once thing that I have found is that
most of those who become successful is that
they make some kind of sacrifice to achieve
success. Whether through hard work or are
pushed by a need to satisfy a curiosity. The
book „Four hour week” defines „being rich‟ in
a different context, it is by having time to do
the things you really want to do without con-
straints. That becomes the definition of being
rich. Freedom.
Man has been able to create new products,
develop new sectors and make it to the moon
and beyond, but it has not been able to in-
crease the number of seconds in one single
day or even able to stop time. We can drive
faster, multi task, outsource and speak to peo-
ple in different continents at the same time,
but we can not add a single minute to our day,
so time becomes the best way to build wealth.
Can you start a business that will save time?
It is difficult not to be impressed by Peng Shuilin. The 37 year old was sliced in half
in an accident in 1995 involving a truck. When I received the e-mail about this in-
credible man, I was not only stunned by his incredible spirit, I was impressed by
what he has become, a source of inspiration for other people who are faced with
incredible circumstances that they find themselves in.
This magazine is about passion and ability to
overcome obstacles, no one typifies that spirit
than Earvin “Magic” Johnson. The man who
dazzled and danced his way through opponents
on a basket ball court has sprinkled more than
just his magic dust in the business arena since his
retirement from basket ball.
Life is tough and success in business can be lonely and even
stressful. Most of the rich and powerful entrepreneurs have
someone to call on when they get to that crunch time. An-
tony Robbins is one of those with the ear to the top manag-
ers and CEO of Fortune 500 companies.
The need of the small business owners may not be as com-
plex as those of their counterparts who run multi billion
dollar corporations., but they still need some support as well
Now such services are no longer the exclusive preserves of
the privileged, thanks to people like Jackie Elliott an expert
on Personal coaching and mentoring. Jackie can be reached
on her website
http://jackieelliott.vpweb.co.uk/
Peng spent over two years in hospital
after the accident where doctors recon-
structed the lower part of his body. His
organs have to be reconstructed and
rerouted, but the man took everything
in his strides.
One of the best medicine you can have
is a positive attitude and the willingness
to live. How many of us would have
given up seeing half of our body has
gone missing. Doctors believe that he
is fitter than most able body people.
With a spirit like that, who can doubt it.
How many of us, faced with such in-
credible obstacles will have time for a
smile. Twice the man.
The house is a 2 bed house on the market for £25,000. It is not in the best of areas, but even people on
low income or on benefits need a place to live. With the UK government not building new social houses,
the government is looking to the private sector for such services. Most banks will lend up to 75% of the
value of the property. This means that you and a couple of friends only need to find about £7,000 to
cover the deposit and legal fees. The rent on properties like this is about £3,600 p.a. With interest rates as
low as it is at the moment, you will be paying less than £100 a month, interest only. My suggestion is
whilst interest rates are low, use the opportunity to reduce you capital, then when interest rates begin to
rise because the market is picking up very nicely, get a second charge on the property to release your
initial investment which you can then use to invest in other properties. The aim is to have a residual in-
come that brings you a bit of money over a period. But who has time to manage property from a long
distance? Get an Agent, they will charge between 8%-10% and take away the problem of tenants ringing
you in the middle of the night. Also, get the British Gas maintenance contract at fixed charge per month.

The Magic of Johnson
Above– Johnson the player and below, the business man.
How can you buy properties when the
banks are not lending? Over the years, I
have learned that the best way to do well
in any business is to specialize. Adam
Smith centuries ago referred to this as
the „division of labour‟. I look for prop-
erties and let my Mortgage Adviser sort
out the mortgage details for me. What is
the point of spending valuable time
looking for a mortgage when someone
else can do the donkey work and I don‟t
even have to pay him?. There are in-
stances where I have had to pay people
to arrange some fanciful deals in the
past, but the way I look at it is that it is
better to pay the 1% fee and get the
extra 25% savings or nothing at all.
Lets not beat about the bush, its takes
brave people to invest in something as
risky as Real Estate, but when you com-
pare property to other forms of invest-
ments, it is not as bad, if you get the
timing right. If you invested in Apple
Inc in the 1990‟s when they were down
on their lock and stuck with them in
those days, you are pretty much smiling
now, but how many people did?
The best way forward if the banks are
not lending is for individuals to come
together to form a co-operative or a
company, use the money gathered to-
gether to issue out shares, so interest or
ownership in the company will be based
in contributions, if you raise 50% of the
money needed, then you can borrow the
rest from the bank. The banks will led
up to 70% and you have spread your risk
between a few people. Happy investing.
There is a way
As we come to the end of the football season, many will doubt the passion of footballers and their sup-
porters. Emotions run high on football fields, from the kung kick of the Manchester United French maes-
tro to the latest wink by Mario Balotelli that nearly sparked a riot or even the ugly scenes between rival
football supporters in Glasgow. One thing is certain, there is a lot of passion and commitment in football.
The same kind of commitment that allows for “winners take all” mentality in any field where one looks
for success. Thanks to sports, Balotelli who was born to a poor Ghanaian family now earns over a £1m a
year, his passion for football like the one Mike Tyson used to have for boxing, the saving grace for the
young footballer who has now added winning the FA cup to his growing cabinet of trophies. There is no
doubt that the man they dubbed „Super Mario‟ still needs to curb some of his excesses, but does his man-
ager really want to curb his over zealous antics on the field or let
him lose to continue to create havoc for their opponents? Well
done, Man City. It shows that money can buy success.
I suppose we can now add „Super Winker‟ to Mario‟s list of grow-
ing nicknames. Lets face it, the guy is not a saint, but who wants a
bunch of well behaved footballers? Not the groupie girls, I am sure.
Most of us complain about a lot of things,
from the remote not working to lack of oppor-
tunities and rightly so, but when one looks at
the predicament that guys like this face, yet
they not only overcome such incredible obsta-
cles, they turn such circumstances into an ad-
vantage to help others in similar situation.
Peng Shuilin smiles all the time. He is happy
and has his own business, most importantly,
he travels across China to motivate and en-
courage others. He could sit around and com-
plain about his circumstances or make a dif-
ference to the lives of others, he chose to do
the later rather than the former. An incredible
man with bags of guts. His shop is called
“Half man– Half price Store”. What a hero.
There is no business like Real Estate Business…...
The expression, as solid as a house
may sound hallow these days considering
all the problems with house prices drop-
ping quicker than a brick from a balcony.

Change was inevitable and Bezos rose to the challenge in his char-
acteristic form by reducing staff number, cutting out non profitable
products and allowing others to sell on its website for a fee, it also
challenges ebay and other companies who trade on line to become
one of the largest internet trading organizations.
The lesson from Bezos is that Entrepreneurs must not only have
great ideas, they must be ready to make changes when things don't
go to plan. Like Steve Jobs of Apple inc, the sign of a great business
is when they are able to overcome problems.

“Times are hard”, that sentence is now truer
than ever before. I have just read a report that
many small businesses go belly up sometimes due
to avoidable reasons, mostly, the inability to ask
for help or leaving things too late. This may
cause untold hardship not only to the owner, but
also the staff. If you are struggling, ask for help.
If you are going to miss interest payment, speak
to the lender or get someone to do it for you,
whatever happens, act. It’s never easy when you
start a journey, but keep your eyes on the destina-
tion.

Sunday, 7th May 2011. Seve won a total
of 91 tournaments, 9 of which were PGA
tour titles. Seve was diagnosed with a
cancerous brain tumour in October 2008.
He went through four operations to re-
move the tumour and also went through
some chemo. His death has been re-
garded as a blow to the world of golf. He
died at the age of 54, survived by three

Tribute has been pouring in for the char-

I am not sure about other people who are
completely devoted to Oprah, my rela-
tion, love and affection for the lady
sometimes changes with time. If I like
her show, then, I automatically like her,
if not, the relationship goes through a
patch.
But I religiously go through phases of
not watching her program, then she does
a very captivating show and the affection
is back again. Considering the fact that I
have only been admiring from her afar, it
is strange relationship. So, when I heard
she was thinking of quitting and retiring
to the background, It felt like I was about
to lose a member of my family.
“But why?”, I repeated several times to
myself. “Why is Oprah going now that
she is doing one of her best shows, she is
happy within herself, she is comfortable
with herself and looking better than ever.
Ha! Ha!, I thought I have just answered
my own question. It is better to leave at
her peak rather than when the ratings are
in the gutters. Anyway, having been a
force behind the election of the most
powerful man in the world, how else can
she top that?
Oprah is leaving our screen at just 57,
but at least now she can do whatever she
wants in privacy without people com-
menting on her hair style or dress sense.
I wish her the very best and I hope she
enjoys the next stage of your career and
the rest of her life.
Oprah is one of those rare breed with
passion for what she does and very gen-
erous as well.
No doubt we will continue to write about
her dedication and charitable work.
Jeff Bezos was an investment banker
from New York, when he decided to
borrow $300k from his parents to start a
an online business selling books (lucky
him). The website was launched in 1995
with a further investment of $100k from
a venture capitalist and Amazon was off
to a flying start. One of the new things
that Amazon brought to the internet was
giving the customers the right to com-
ment on the books they have bought. By
1997, Amazon successfully raised an
additional £54m. Just over 2 years after
if was set up, it has delivered 1 million
items. The company added CD’s, videos,
electronics and other products to its line
of business. In order to develop a good
customer service , the company sacri-
ficed profit for speed of delivery of
items. Four years after it was started,
sales reached £1.6b, but by 2000, the
company was losing money quickly than
BP was losing oil, the loss that year was
$1.4b.

Not everyone will like e-books, but for those travel-
ling, the e-books are great as you can carry with you
several hundred books on a Tablet that weighs less
than a couple of books.
Amazon on the other hand has Kindle, which is just
an e-reader, considerably smaller and lighter than the
Tablet, packs an incredible punch, the Kindle costs
£111 and £152.
For me, the Tablet is a better product just be-
cause it does more. The winner of the Tablet
fight must be the Samsung GT-P1000. Here is
why, 7 in touch screen, 12mm thick, 16GB built
in hard-drive space, increasable to 32GB, it is a
phone and has a camera. Apple ipad is 10.1 in
and not as versatile, but Apple is the leader here
and so more expensive. By the way, you can
watch TV and listen to music on them as well.
About five years ago, I came across a man at a
party, realizing that I am an accountant started
to „tap my brains‟. It later transpired that he
had a „ground breaking new idea that would
shake the world to its foundations‟. He refused
to tell me what the idea was and he did the
same to his bank manager and everyone else
on the belief that any of them could steal this
bright idea. Without disclosing his idea, no one
gave him any money and the idea remains
exactly where it has been since.
Ideas need to be tested, even where you have
deficit in your strength, sometimes you may
need to find a partner. It is better to have 50%
of a large number than 100% of nothing.
Simon Nixon, the founder of moneysupermar-
ket.com, the online comparison website had a
great idea and it was, but he was not a techie,
so he engaged a computer guru to do the hard
graft in return for 50% of the company. The
result, they both became very rich indeed,
Simon to the tune of £400m and his partner is
worth at least £200m, but without both men
coming together, no one would have gained
and the idea of a comparing mortgages and
insurances may never come to light.
Two heads may be better
One of the most important things that
anyone who has reached the dizzy heights
of any profession is knowing when to
leave the stage. Few people have man-
aged to get the timing right when it comes
to exiting at the top of their game.
If you consider notable delayed exits like
that of the RBS former CEO, if he had
left a year or two earlier, Sir Fred Good-
win would have remained an enigma to be
worshipped by the business world.
Back to Oprah, the lady has decided to
leave the stage when the ovation is loud-
est and she is definitely going out in
style , with all guns blazing in this her last
season. Oprah, a self made billionaire has
been continuously voted as one of the
most powerful and influential people in
the world, with enough power to move
mountains. Must be the blue print for any
career, start slow, followed by quick ac-
celeration and then a dramatic exit, won-
derful.
Now to the reason why I love Oprah. For
me, she never forgets her routes and
really unpretentious about her past and
unlike other celebrities, she doesn't mind
occasionally doing her dirty laundry in
public especially when she knows that
someone else might want to use it as a
way of making money.
Overall, the queen of day time chat show
has transformed our screens over the last
25 years and will continue to do with the
help of her TV network and magazine. A
true icon for a lot of women who would
no doubt follow in her footsteps.

In her younger days, my grandmother was a
„tough old bird‟, a no nonsense, no messing
about kind of woman. As she got older, she
simmered down a bit, well so I thought,
until she went to put some money in the
bank a few months ago. She grudgingly
opened the account many years ago, rather
than keep the money under her bed, so it
was with great reluctance she visited the
bank to upgrade her account. The nice
young lady at the bank smiled at her as she
looked around suspiciously. She sat down
uncomfortably as the lady started to stare at
the computer screen in front of her. She
answered the questions with clenched teeth,
until she was asked the grandmother of all
security questions. “What is your mother‟s
maiden name?”, the young lady asked, un-
aware of the storm that was brewing. “Did
you just ask me what my mother‟s maiden
name was?”, she repeated with as much fury
as a hurricane . That was it. She stood up,
she was not having any of it. In a culture
where respect for elders meant that you can-
not even mention your mother‟s first name,
asking her mother‟s maiden name not only
took her by surprise, it was the height of
insolence. It took awhile and an intervention
from the bank manager to calm her down.
What a woman!!
If you are an entrepreneur and have
failed each time you start a new busi-
ness, don‟t give up.
Read the story of Sari Crevin who invented the SippiGrip and its companion product, the PaciGrip. Her company, BooginHead LLC, is on track for $1 million in sales this year. Sari started a company because she was un-happy about not finding a good product for her son. Entrepreneurs never sleep, they look for opportunities and if they find something lacking or not to their taste, they create the product that they believe will fill a gap in the market. The people who make a difference to our lives are the ones who refuse to believe that something can not be done, so they get of their back side and try to prove eve-ryone wrong, they might fall over in the process, but what the heck, they keep getting and bingo, they hit a jackpot.

article206716.html Steve Jobs of Apple Inc is a man
they should be calling Lazarus. His
company was at the brink of total
collapse in the 1980‟s and early
1990‟s. The Microsoft operation sys-
tem meant that the growth of the PC
made life very difficult for Apple,
even the most loyal Apple supporters
had little choice than to cross over to
PC with very few products being
Apple compatible. It was rumoured
that Michael Dell and Bill Gate
thought Apple was a completely
worthless business. But Steve Jobs
was a man on a mission, he reduced
his reliance on the very competitive
computer market and went for the
music industry; the result a com-
pletely new sector was born, he re-
placed Sony Walkman with MP3,
Ipod, Iphone etc. The result is a com-
pany reborn and now one of the most
profitable companies in the world.
Last year, revenue was $65b, against
that of Microsoft of $62b. By the
way, the man is a marketing genius
amongst other things.
A slow, but taste business– Snail Farming
The best snail farms used to be in Italy,
Spain and France. Now enter Eastern
Europe, these countries have plenty of
land, labour is cheap and with high
unemployment and close proximity to
the market in France, they are turning
out to be hub of snails farming ready to
compete with the big boys in Italy.
There is plenty of information on the
types and the best method to farm these
increasingly tasty creatures to the ex-
tent that a school boy in Scotland con-
verted his room into a breading ground
for snails selling to local French restau-
rants. Check out these websites.

A business with the right idea called
„husband by the hour‟ got more than
they bargained for when the women
who called for their services had other
things on their minds. The business
owners soon noticed that when the

The first clue of the misinterpretation

Essential Tips for those starting businesses
Statistics show that it does make sense for people
to work from home, but fewer companies trust
their employees enough to allow that freedom.
Sometimes, the infrastructure is not available for
smaller organizations to do so.
But I believe the message is getting through. I
have now found that my mortgage brokers work
from home. The reasons are both economic and
make considerable sense. The brokers are on the
road most of the time, so why bring them into the
office just to „clock in and out‟, phones are di-
verted so that the receptionist can pick up the
phones and redirect to the appropriate person or
thorough e-mails and instant messaging, the re-
sult, increased efficiency and reduce costs.

The first thing that anyone starting a business needs to know is their market. Who are your
target markets and what are their tastes and spending power? Even those who are in business
tend to study the trend of the market or how to expand their current operations to new custom-
ers. Even big businesses like Tesco, Wal-mart and McDonald’s tend to develop different prod-
ucts for specific markets. Below are some examples of new and emerging trend. A few years ago, it would have been al-
most impossible to think of people work-
ing anywhere else, but their offices, but
thanks to the recession and the need to
start small businesses and look after the
pennies, more people are now starting to
work from home.
The trend is likely to grow as more people
are employed as freelance writers, blog-
gers, software writers etc. Articles about
„e-bayers‟ and Amazonians who are rack-
ing in millions of dollars a year whilst still
in their loafers conjure an image that sev-
eral commuters will envy .
The customer is king A lesson that every business organization needs
to learn is how best to treat your customers. It
seems a very basic rule, “don't bite the hands that
feeds you”, but in some instances, it is easy said
than done. On the 16th May, the BBC showed a
program about the demise of an otherwise suc-
cessful business. Until that gaffe in 1991, the
Ratner Group was one of the most successful
high street shops in the UK, selling jewelry at
discounted prices on the high street. To spice up
his address to the Institute of Directors in Lon-
don, Gerald Ratner, the grandson of the founder
added a few jokes derogating the company‟s
stock as being crap, the result, £500m was wiped
out of the shares of his company, he lost his job
and a lot of money in the process.
Successful business are warned to avoid doing a
“Ratner”. Prepare for success, but never take
things for granted. Apple Inc nearly did the same
on its iphone4, but Steve Jobs must have been
given a lesson of what happened to Ratner and
quickly took a „U-turn‟. The customers have the
power. An incredible power indeed and they
always right
Laura Chester writing for the UK newspaper
“The Independent”, pointed out that the Bra-
zilians and Nigerians are replacing the Chi-
nese as the „big spenders‟ on the high streets
of London. They stay in the best hotels and
are not afraid to spend some of their oil
money when they go on shopping sprees
across the city. Hoteliers in London are rob-
bing their hands and their tills continue to
ring out loud.
For new and emerging businesses, these cus-
tomers can not be ignored, customize your
products or at least be ready to keep them
within your sights. The economies of the new
emerging markets are still growing despite a
slow down in the US and European markets.
On the property front, Myra Butterworth of
the Telegraph wrote about the high percent-
age of the new rich foreigners snapping up
top end properties in London. More than 60%
of expensive houses in London were sold to
foreigners in 2010. 61 foreign nationalities
bough properties in London in 2010, up from
46 in the previous year according to Frank
Knight, the estate agents. As oil prices go
through the roof, the people making money
from oil invest them in properties, probably
due to the miserable performance in the stock
market.
Financial coaching is not for everyone. Just like in school, some people can
read something once and it sticks, others may have to read the same thing a
couple of times. Do we all need a helping hand?.
The answer is that the job of an athletics coach is to keep athletes in top
conditions, making sure they eat, sleep and train right.
Even the best athletes; Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, etc still need coaches
to keep them in shape.
Can everyone benefit from the services of a coach ?. Some people will re-
quire personal coaches to help them lose weight and look good, others will
need a Life coach or Mentor (see Jackie Elliott details on page 5) to over-
come current issues or to get them to focus and complete projects. A finance
coach is for those needing to get their finance in order, overcome debt and
plan for the future.
The question to ask yourself is, why do these great performers still need
coaches? Its simply to fulfil their potentials. Are you fulfilling yours?
Do you remember the Olympic Boxing champion who didn't want the
coach / manager to take a cut of his earnings. He had 100% of a very small
purse, rather than a smaller percentage of a huge amount.

Working from home to your manager, not every job can be done
from home, but most large corporations are
reasonably flexible these days.
If you are a small business, start from home
with a computer, a mobile phone and a printer
might be what is required. For those interested
in selling on e-bay, you may need to convert a
room in the house or use the garage for stor-
age. Despite the attraction of working from
home, I have done it for more than 2 years, I
find that I tend to start early, work later, my
job is really never finished and cannot even
complain to my boss when the workload piles
up, overall, I prefer to spend more time being
productive than spend the time on the train or
in traffic jams.
