DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Growth & development of the nation is propelled by the men & women of high calibre, who can provide leadership & intellectual-emotional-psychological support to the people; design-develop-implement systems & processes; and research-innovate-compete at national & international level. This has been the focus of guiding the institutional processes.

The academic year 2015-16 was the year of appreciation. Govt of NCT of Delhi notified the recommendations of State Fee Regulatory Committee, which upgraded the Institute from existing category 'A' to 'A+'. The Academic Audit Committee of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, which assesses institutions for academic performance, upgraded the category of GIBS to 'A+' from existing 'A'. The Joint Assessment Committee of Govt of NCT of Delhi and GGSIP University, which assesses institutions for quality parameters and infrastructure, graded the Institute to category 'A' in the fourth successive year.

Systems and processes deployed at the Institute and delivered by qualified faculty members resulted in excellent outcome with more than 95 percent passing out students securing distinction or first division. Industry-Institute partnership Cell (IIPC) organised industrial training at the end of second semester for MBA students and in sixth semester for MCA students. IIPC also organised many industrial visits, pre-placement talks, guest speakers from corporate and on & off campus placement events. Academic and practical exposure provided to students resulted in excellent placements with more than 80 percent students of MBA & MCA securing placements.

For the all round development of students, Institute has started a new exercise by the name “Business News Review & Presentation” encompassing daily analysis of Business News Review and variety of action oriented events such as elocution, debate, introduction, extempore etc. Industry Analysis and personality development workshops formed variety of inputs to the students. Exposure of experts from industry & academia was given by organising seminars, conferences, workshops, guest lectures.

Our endeavour at Gitarattan is to develop leaders with intellectual, emotional & psychological stability, professionals with proven capabilities and enhance their all round capacity.

The Joint Assessment Committee constituted by Government of NCT of Delhi and Guru Gobind Singh th

Indraprastha University visited the Institute on 29 May, 2016 to revalidate the No Objection Certificate

& Affiliation. The Committee after assessing the Institute on various parameters of quality and

infrastructure, assessed the Institute in Category “A” in the fourth successive year.

March, 2016

th The Quality Audit Cell of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University visited the Institute on 29 March,

2016 and inspected the Institute on various academic parameters/benchmarks of quality education

enunciated by the University to grade institutions. After sustaining category “A” for the last three

successive years, the Institute was upgraded to Category “A+” in 2015-16.

State Fee Regulatory Committee constituted by the Govt of NCT of Delhi upgraded the Category of the

ABOUT GIBS

Gitarattan International Business School (giBS) was established in the year 2004. Gitarattan is affiliated to

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi and is approved by All India Council for Technical

Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India. It is accredited by National Assessment &

Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is ISO 9001: 2008 certified. The Institute conducts postgraduate

courses of MBA (First & Second Shift), MBA (International Business), MCA and MCA (Dual Degree).

At Gitarattan, thrust is on overall personality development of students, so that they can face the challenges in

their competitive professional life with value based approach. In addition to academic inputs, students are

exposed to various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, which help them to hone their managerial

Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) at Gitarattan is full time engaged in providing interface with the

corporate world. It brings corporate leaders face-to-face and exposes students by arranging special

seminars, guest lectures and organizing industrial visits. Gitarattan has generated large database of

companies with whom the IIPC interacts regularly.

Gitarattan is proud of its alumni base which has been working with the support of IIPC in companies such as

American Express, Axis Bank, Barclays, AON Hewitt, HDFC Bank, ABC Consultants, Wipro, Mirus,

IndusInd Bank, WNS, and many more. In 2015-16 Placements, Axis Bank played a major role by selecting

33 students for the position of Assistant Manager. Campus Placement and pooled placement exercises have

To achieve the objective to secure placement, Gitarattan focuses on all round growth of students. GIBS

endeavours to groom business leaders and computer science professionals, who can respond effectively to

challenging opportunities in a corporate world, that are changing faster than ever before. Besides academics,

special attention is given to personality development of students by integrating professionally developed

Personality Development Module with the curriculum. Students intensively participate in Group

Discussions, Mock Interviews, Role Plays, Debate, Presentation etc. These activities enhance students'

confidence, communication skills and overall ability to prepare them to face situations in real world and

respond to them effectively.

To prepare the students for industry knowledge, Gitarattan carries out major exercise 'Industry Analysis'.

Students carry out detailed analysis of various industries, in teams, on aspects such as geographical

distribution of companies in India, major players in India and abroad, manpower needs of each industry and

many other parameters. This helps the students to acquire larger picture of contemporary placement

scenario in each industry.

Students, along with faculty members regularly visit various companies during the 'Industrial Tours' to

expose them to real business environment, interact with people from shop floor level to highest level,

understand various practices followed and share the learning with the peer group. Students of Gitarattan

have visited many companies, such as, Somany Tiles, Air Cargo Complex at IGI Delhi, Tex Corp.,

Hindware, Safexpress, and many more.

Industrial Training

Summer Internship forms an integral part of the development of students in their quest for placement.

Summer Internship at Gitarattan is carried out as an exercise in 'Integrated Learning' where students spend

6-8 weeks at the companies. In this process, students work under a faculty guide, along with company level

supervisor. Students get inside the company to have first-hand experience with the corporate culture, its

environment, carry out systematic analysis and link theory with practices on ground. Students get exposure

to companies of all sectors of economy such as insurance, banking, construction, finance, capital, share

market, information technology and many more. Summer Internship intimately helps the students to plan

and prepare them on various facets of personality, behavior, writing and knowledge etc.

Pre-placement talks provide an opportunity to the students and the recruiting company to interact with each

other. Every year, several pre-placement talks are organized by the Institute where the representatives of the

company share the profile of the company, key aspects of its business, work environment, and opportunities

available to the students. The presentation is followed by a Q&A session, where students interact with

thSomany Tiles, Bahadurgarh, Haryana: 30 September, 2015

An industrial visit to Somany Tiles,

Bahadurgarh, Haryana was conducted onth

30 September, 2015 to understand the process

of manufacturing, storing and logistics facility.

It offered an opportunity to all the students to

know about the production facility of ceramic

tiles and have an in-depth study of

manufacturing and in-line production of the

best quality tiles. Somany tiles deals in a wide

range of products, ranging from: Floor tiles

(Ceramic Tiles, VC shield), Wall Tiles,

Imported Tiles (Wall & Floor), Sanitary ware

(Sinks & Basins), CP fittings (showers) and Tile

Laying solutions (EZY FIX, EZY GROUT). Manufacturing Plant at Bhadurgargh is mainly manufacturing

floor and wall tiles of different types where raw material is imported from different parts of the world as per

the requirement.

thAir Cargo Complex: 16 October, 2015

thOn 16 October, 2015, students of MBA were taken

to an industrial visit to the Air Cargo Complex for

Exports and Imports at Indira Gandhi International

Airport. The complex is managed by Customs

Department of Govt of India. This visit provided an

opportunity to all the students to identify EXIM

procedure with reference to Air Cargo. Further, this

visit also provided an idea regarding the

documentation procedures and the logistics

involved. The visit was divided into three parts:

Exploring the infrastructure, departments and cargo

sections. Overall, this visit was a complete learning

process for the students. Students also asked questions to their concerned officers which they replied

comprehensively. Students understood the practical aspects of the logistics and supply chain management

system of Air Cargo.

Institute organized an Industrial Visit for MBA students to Logistics Park of Safexpress, Binola,

thManesar, Haryana on 9 March, 2016. Primary objective of this visit was to apprise the students Supply Chain Management and Warehousing revolution taking place in India and ground level activities of one of the largest Supply Chain Network. The visit enriched the students to understand how door to door pick-up and delivery services are managed in state of the art, automated Logistics Parks.

Gitarattan International Business School organized an Industrial Visit for MBA students to Tex Corp,

st Gurgaon, Haryana on 31 October, 2015. Two faculty members accompanied 47 students during the visit. Primary objective of this visit was to apprise them various processes of zip manufacturing as per international standards. The visit enriched the students to understand the current technology in manufacturing zips of international standards, innovations in zip manufacturing based on customers demand, future expansion plan; and current CSR practices being adopted.

thHindware Sanitary Plant, Bahadurgarh: 6 February, 2016

Gitarattan International Business School organized an Industrial Visit to Hindware (Sanitary ware Plant) at Bahadurgarh, Haryana for MBA students on

th6 February, 2016. Faculty member & Placement Coordinator accompanied students during the visit. The primary objective of this visit was to apprise students functioning of manufacturing facility and application of managerial practices. During the visit, the students learnt that India has the technical capability and skilled manpower to use latest technology in manufacturing sanitary ware and meeting ISO Standards. The visit enriched the students with the understanding of manufacturing processes and operations, logistics, inventory control and other managerial practices.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Gitrattan International Business School organized one day National

Competition on Summer Internship Project (NCSIP-2015). It was

organized by the Industry Institute Partnership Cell of the Institute on th30 September, 2015 to showcase and share the business practices that

the students have gathered during their summer internship. Seventeen

teams from various colleges participated in the event. After the

preliminary round, 10 teams were shortlisted and they presented their

report before the panel of esteemed judges. The panel of judges

comprised Dr. Sanjeev Mittal, Dean, University School of

Management Studies, GGSIP, Delhi, Mr. Vivek Nanda, Head-Direct

sales, Sharp Business Systems (India) Ltd., Prof. B.S. Hothi,

Professor, Gitarattan International Business School. The winners of

the event were awarded with cash prizes along with Certificate of

Merit.

National Competition on Summer Internship Project (NCSIP):th30 September, 2015

stThe Prelude: 1 August, 2015

Gitarattan International Business School organized st “The Prelude” on 1 August, 2015 to orient the students

of the new batches of MBA (First & Second Shift),

MBA (IB), MCA and MCA (DD). The programme was

intended to orient & educate fresh students about the

systems & processes, which the university & institute

follows. The orientation programme started with the

auspicious lamp lighting ceremony followed by the

address by the Vice Chairman, Shri Anirudh Jindal who

welcomed them to the institution and offered them a

few words of wisdom. Students got a brief about an

overview of the Institute in relation to the rules, regulations and the protocol they have to follow during their

stay at Gitarattan International Business School.

Subsequently, Dr. S Chaturvedi, the Director of the Institute, enlightened the students on a few key aspects

of learning. Dr. Chaturvedi emphasized that it is the responsibility of the students to propel our nation

forward in the direction of success besides insisting them on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Students were

given a presentation by their respective class coordinators about the day-to-day functioning of the college.

Eight days Workshop on Android Development and

Java was organized by the Institute fromth21-30 December, 2015 for the students of MCA.

Technologies & Hackveda Appsec Labs conducted

the Workshop. Mr Devanshu Shukla possesses more

than 10 years of industry experience in the relevant

discipline. It helped students in developing Android

applications consistent with the current market

requirements.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the

Institute organized National Business Plan rdCompetition-2015 on 3 November, 2015 to bring

students from different institutes on a single

platform and share their acumen to make a business

plan and lead an enterprise. 66 participants of 28

teams from various institutes/universities

participated in the competition.

After round 1, 15 teams qualified for round 2 and

presented their report before the panel of esteemed

judges. The panel of judges comprised of Dr.

Rishiraj Singh, Director (Training UEPA), National

Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business

Development, Noida, UP., Ms.Yashmin Ahmed

Rizwan, CEO and Founder of KF Consulting &

of the presentation, the judges analyzed the Business

Plan and presented their views in respect of

thCase Folio: 11 March, 2016

Case Folio is an annual event at Gitarattan International Business School (GIBS) since its inception. It is a

flagship & much awaited event among different management schools across the city. This year the institute

organised 10th National Case Analysis and Presentation Competition (Case Folio, 2016) onth 11 March, 2016. The Case Folio competition provides an opportunity to students from different business

schools to compete with each other in providing solutions to business problems embedded in the case. The

objectives of the event were:

●To provide a unique platform for B - school students across the country to sharpen their analytical and

problem solving skills.

●To develop confidence in dealing effectively with the wide array of difficult situations faced during

organizational decision making.

●To develop teamwork and leadership qualities among the students.

The external panel of judges for the event were Dr P.U.B Rao, Senior Professor & Area Chairperson, ITS,

Mohannagar, Ghaziabad and Mr. J.C. Sharma, Chief Advisor, NIESBUD, Noida. The event was conducted

in two phases. In phase one, participants analyzed the case and appeared for the viva voice. In the second

phase, participants made a presentation before the panel of judges. Following teams were declared as

winners: I Position: Amity Business School, Gurgaon, II Position: GIBS, Rohini, III Position: Jamia Millia

Islamia, Delhi. The esteemed judges shared their views on Do's and Don'ts while analyzing the case. The

programme ended with the prize distribution ceremony.

SEMINAR/ WORKSHOPS/CONFERENCES ORGANIZED BY GIBS

Gitarattan International Business School organized a one day National Seminar on Emerging International

and Indian Accounting Standards. The seminar was attended by academicians, scholars and students. The

seminar was conducted in three technical sessions. Session 1 was on Global Business Environment and

Accounting Standards delivered by Prof. Madhu Vij, FMS, Delhi University, with her enlightening words of

wisdom. She explained, need and importance of Global Business Environment, factors influencing for

setting Accounting Standards and the upcoming changes in Global Business Environment. She explained

about IFRS Evaluation, Difference between IFRS and US GAAP, reasons to adopt IFRS, the uniqueness of

IFRS. She explained the major challenges in front of the country in achieving its target. She also discussed

about difference between IASB and FASB, CTA, BASEL NORMS (III), Financial Inclusion, Creating

Buffer, Diluted EPS, Off Balance Sheet Items. She explained about credit rating agencies and difference

between CRAs and Auditors.

Session 2 was on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) delivered by Dr. V.Raveendra Saradhi,

Associate Professor, IIFT. He started his deliberation with the idea that IFRS are a consequence of growing

international shareholding and trade and are particularly important for companies that have dealings in

several countries. He discussed about IFRS evaluation, need and objectives of IFRS. He envisaged that

IFRSs are often referred to as being principles-based. US GAAP is said to be more rules-based. He had

discussed about the role of financial statements in implementing IFRS. Fair value hierarchy and transaction

price was discussed. Furthermore application of non-financial assets, Decision tree, Liability measurement,

valuation approach of market and cost was also discussed.

Session 3 was on Indian Accounting Standards (Ind. AS) delivered by Mr. Anshul Sharma (CA), Partner,

ASKM & Associates. He discussed about the Evolution and need of accounting standards in India. He

elaborated fair value accounting, agencies involved and their role, features and provisions of Ind.AS, current

status of implementation of Ind.AS. He also briefed about IFRS convergence, which is to be conducted in

phases, for first-time adoption in India sales revenues. It was very productive, informative and lively

session.

and Impediments to International Trade onst

1 October, 2015. The objective of the seminar

was to make the participants aware about

complex facets of international trade and to

enhance their ability to analyse international

business environment vis-à-vis international

trade.

sessions. The 1st session covered “Impact of

Business Environment on Global Trade”. Prof

S.K. Jain initiated the discussion by sharing his

views on the Role of International Relations on

Global Trade, Impact of International &

Regional Agreements and Trade Blocks on

Trade.

The second speaker, Prof. M.A. Beg covered

Session 2 “Growth Factors for International

Trade”. He emphasised on the Role of Economic & Trade Policies and Investment Climate; Impact of Social

& Economic Status of Peoples and Increasing Role of Services in International Trade.

3rd Technical session of the seminar “Impediments to International Trade” was conducted by

Dr. Veeramani, who covered Instability of Political and Economic policies, Tariff and Non-tariff Barriers,

Contemporary issues-Nuclear, Climate/Green Issues, Technology Transfer Restrictions, Terrorism etc.

Gitarattan International Business School organized National Seminar on Advances in Big Data - Issues and th

Challenges on 16 October, 2015. The objective of the seminar was to enhance awareness about big data and

its business values, analyze issues and challenges in managing big data, trends, understanding

contemporary tools & techniques of big data.

In the first session, Dr. Muhammad Abulaish, Associate Professor & Head (CS), Jamia Millia Islamia, New

Delhi was the first speaker. He spoke on imperatives of big data. He started with “What is Big Data?” and

explained the evolution of big data and trending technologies. He explained three types of data mining;

structured, semi-structured and unstructured and said only structured data is stored in data mining. He

compared the traditional and new science data approach. He discussed business intelligence and analytics.

Mr. Himanshu Gupta, Senior Technology Specialist, Microsoft Corporation, Gurgaon was the second

speaker for Session-I. He focused on the breaking points of traditional approach. He said that managing the

big data is a challenge in industry. He explained the business applications of big data. He gave various real

life examples of e-commerce and digital marketing. He also discussed various security issues concerning

with data.

In Session II, Prof. Vasudha Bhatnagar Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Delhi,

was the first speaker for Session-II. She spoke on Big Data Analysis, Pipeline and Challenges. She discussed

computer model which is required in big data analytics. She explained the characteristics of big data-v3

which is the classical view.

In the III Session, Dr. Karanjeet Singh, Head IT Operations, Cadilla, New Delhi was the Speaker. He showed

the graph of performance of hadoop in companies. He showed four quadrants and put various data varieties

in different quadrants using examples of e-commerce scenario. He explained at length to work with apache

hadoop and further explained the architecture of master slave. Finally, he discussed NoSQL technology

along with various big data tools i.e. FUSE, cloudera, big SQL etc.

On February 12, 2016, GIBS organized a national seminar on The Dynamics of Advertising and

Communication in a Digitally Inter-Connected World. The seminar aimed at bringing the contemporary

issues and challenges into focus and exploring the evolving landscape of advertising and communication in

this technologically transforming time. The major objectives of the seminar were; to analyze changing

paradigm of advertising, to discuss impact of digital media and to explore the challenges faced by

advertising world. Representatives from the corporate/industry, academicians, research scholars and

students were amongst the participants of the seminar.

First Session: This session of the seminar was addressed by Prof. S K Sachdeva, Senior Professor, IMT,

Ghaziabad. He started the session by elaborating the difference between traditional marketing and modern

marketing. He extended the difference to advertising and communication. He emphasized on the dynamic

nature of marketing and advertising. He described the role of changing technology on the dynamics of

advertising and communication. The session ended at with a small analogy Prof. Sachdeva gave on the

impact on demographic attributes on advertising.

Second Session: Mr. Pradeep Chopra, Chief Executive Officer, Digital Vidya, conducted this session. As the

objective of the session was to understand the digital advertising and its growth, Mr. Chopra had aptly taken

over the session with the elaboration and description of digital advertising and its role in meeting marketing

objectives of the firm. He also discussed about the role of social media in advertising and marketing using

the example of Fasso's, Cashkaro and Cardekho.com.

Third Session: Mr. Vivek Nanda, Head (Direct Sales), Sharp Business Systems, was the speaker for the third

session. This session was focused on the contemporary issues and challenges of advertising. Mr. Nanda

started the session with an interesting example of Cadburies (Dairy Milk) Chocolates and their advertising

campaign. He took the example of Kurkure and soft-drinks to make the audience understand the role of

privacy and ethical issues pertaining to advertising. An interesting case of Samsung India made the audience

understand the role of advertising in International Business Negotiations.

Challenges in Human Resource Management on 19 March, 2016. The seminar targeted to bring all HR

issues on a common platform to understand the dynamics of Human Resource Management. The seminar

was organized in three sessions:

Session - 1: Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Director, Centre for Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Delhi was the

speaker for this session. He discussed the problem of young population in the age group of 15-29, their

distribution, employment and contribution to the GNI etc. He very vividly described various dimensions of

youth issues and their problems. Prof. Chaturvedi, Director, GIBS, concluded the session by underlying the

importance of "Entrepreneurship" to effectively leverage the demographic dividend.

Session - 2: Speaker for this session was Prof. Jayaseelan Ganesan, Ex-Chief General Manager, National

Small Industry Corporation (NSIC), Delhi. Through participatory activities, he explained competency

mapping and skill development in his characteristic style. He emphasized on the importance of

understanding the skill gap and development of relevant skills among youth of India.

Session - 3: This session was on 'Evolving Practices in 3 R's of HRM i.e. Recruitment, Reward and

Retention. Mr. Vinay Gupta, Executive Director, Ghaziabad Management Association, Former V.P (HR),

Jaypee Cement, explained the topic using the examples from NTPC. He discussed the evolving role of

human resource management over the years in Indian organizations. The session provided students an

opportunity to understand the nuances of HRM from a company's perspective.

organized by the Institute on 11 August, 2015 for

the first year students of MBA, MBA (IB), MCA

Colombo, Sri Lanka. The workshop focused on

motivating the students to look within themselves

and do introspection so that they are better prepared

A one-day workshop on Positive Attitude Development th was organized by the Institute on 16 September, 2015.

The key speaker was Ms Pratiksha Rai associated with

Lighthouse Institute as corporate trainer for PDP. At the

outset Ms. Rai stressed that positive attitude, positive

thinking and optimism are the key requisites for a good

physical as well as emotional health. In addition, she

said that positive attitude is a remedy for stress. She

made the session interactive and engaging with her

short story sessions and activities. Conclusively, she

advised the students to break the chain, which stops

them from achieving their targets by knowing their own potential and capabilities.

Lecture on Essentials of Consumer Behaviour for

Marketing Goods and Services - An Industry

Perspective. A well-known Marketing Consultant and

academician Prof. Sham Sharma delivered the talk.

The objective of the Guest Lecture was to acquaint the

MBA students of marketing specialization with

various internal and external factors influencing the

consumer decision making for buying products or

services and to understand various dimensions

contributing towards marketing practices. This session

was enriched with the industry example with respect to

marketing concepts of product life cycle, 4P's,

Positioning, Buyer Model, Communication Retention,

Cult brand, Motivation and Mood. To make students

understand the 'Socio-Economic Classification' he

demonstrated the Pepsi Co India's case and explained

the applicability of the concept in a very interactive

A one day workshop on Managing Emotion, Motivation

and Energy at Workplace was organized by the Institute on nd

22 September, 2015. The key speaker was Mr. Ved

Prakash a reputed Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)

trainer and experienced Business Consultant.

Mr Ved Prakash started his session with a short video, which

depicted the brain physiology and the power of brain in

capturing and processing enormous information. He stated

that our mind is tuned to gain pleasure and avoid pain which

determines our actions. He urged students to purify the

unconscious mind by filtering the negative thoughts and

acquire only positive thoughts. He also demonstrated few

visualization exercises which could help in doing the same.

To become successful, he emphasized on setting clear and

big goals in life. He cited examples of famous personalities

like Florence Chadwick- a world famous swimmer and

Anthony Robbins who by setting clear goals achieved

success in their life.

Global Economic Environment on 28 September, 2015.

The resource person was Professor B. B. Bhattacharya,

former Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Prof. Bhattacharya initiated the lecture by pointing out the

dramatic transformation in global economic environment.

In his characteristic style, he cited many stories of

successful entrepreneurs and companies and failure of

many successful products & companies. Through these

examples, he brought out that business environment is

shaped by successful people, ventures and companies. He

concluded by calling for more domestic investment on

research and changing the mindset, so we can compete

globally.

A workshop on Goal Setting and Effective Communication th was organized by the Institute on 12 October, 2015. The

key speaker was Mr. Rahul Dhar, Associate Director at

IPSOS in Gurgaon. He has more than 11 years of industry

experience. Mr. Dhar started his session with a short video,

which depicted many celebrities who became from

“Nobody to somebody”. He discussed at length about

having big dreams and to chase them.

He emphasized that knowledge is our guide and we should

use it to recognize our abilities. He stressed on the

importance of goal setting for turning dreams into reality.

He gave a four step process for goal setting - define

challenge, set goal, decide action steps and lay down target

dates. Further, he explained the guidelines for goal setting,

which include conceivable, believable, achievable,

measurable and controllable and focused purpose.

A one-day workshop on Self Management for Success in rdLife was organized by the Institute on 3 February, 2016.

The Speaker was Dr Deepali Monga, renowned and

certified expert and practitioner in Neuro Language

Programming (NLP). Dr Deepali Monga is a PhD, UGC-

NET qualified in HRM, Masters in HRD, Masters in

English literature. Dr. Deepali Monga emphasized and

underscored the significance of 'Self Management' which

is the sine qua non to attain one's goal in life. She said that

negativity needs to be pulled out of our minds and

replaced by a healthy dose of positivity, for all round

growth and well being. The session also consisted of

several episodes of role-playing and play acting by

multiple teams in order to ground them in the task of goal-

setting and goal-clarity. Valuable insights and training

was also imparted on the issue of stress management and

time-management.

thThe Institute celebrated the 69 Independence Day on th14 August, 2015 at its campus. Shri R. N. Jindal, the

Chairman, unfurled the national flag. In his speech,

Shri R.N. Jindal stressed upon the factors that the

country is expecting from the youths. He reminded the

duties and responsibilities of the students as a

responsible citizen. He advised the students to follow

three basic principles to become successful in life: (a)

Eat Good (b) Think Good and (c) Act Good.

environment. In this light, the event “Abhinandan nd2015” was organized by the Institute on 22 August,

2015 to formally welcome students of 2015-16 batch

in various courses: MBA, MBA (IB), MCA and MCA

(Dual Degree). The event was organized at Premier

Gola Banquet, Pitampura. It was a fun filled day with

various cultural events such as solo and group dance,

solo and group song. All students participated with

great enthusiasm. The main highlight of the event was

Mr. Abhinandan and Miss. Abhinandan, which

consisted of three rounds: Introduction and Ramp

walk, Talent round and Question and Answer round.

5 September, 2015. The management, faculty members

“Guru” in the creation as well as the dissemination of

knowledge.

The event was a good blend of some food for thought as

well as fun and entertainment. Dr. Uma Gulati was

awarded with the 'Best Teacher Award' for the academic year 2014-15. Shri Anirudh Jindal, Vice Chairman

A two-day inter-collegiate cultural fest "Zenith 2016" was organized by Gitarattan International Business th thSchool on 19 and 20 February, 2016. These events provide a platform where highly energetic students

strive to showcase and win appreciation for their talents. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the

invoking of the almighty by lighting of lamp and Ganesh Vandana. The two-day fest was attended by more

than 1,000 students from different colleges across Delhi and NCR. The fest executed with a total of 20 events

planned and organized at its best of quality. The highlights were events like “Battle of the Bands” and

“Bollywood Star Night”.

(Rangoli), Ad Mad Show, Ek Minute ka Khel (Minute-to-win-it), On-the-spot-photography, Inter-Institute

Creative Writing Competition and Inter-Institute Debate Competition which were followed by a remarkable

“Battle of Bands”. The second day of the fest hosted Cultural events like Geet Gaata Hoon Main (Solo

Singing), Twist-n-Turn (Solo Dance), Nach Baliye (Couple Dance), Nukkad Natak (Street Play), Taal-se-

Tall Mila (Group Dance), and Zenith Fashion Mania (Mr. & Ms. Zenith).

2016 for the academic year 2015-2016.

Students were felicitated for their performance

& achievements in academics, cultural & sports

activities during the academic year 2015 - 16.

The programme started with lighting the lamp

by Dr. S. Chaturvedi (Director), Dr. D. K.

Chaudhary, Prof. B. S. Hothi, Prof. A. K. Gosh,

Prof. A. K. Pandey & Dr. Rashmi Jha.

Dr. S. Chaturvedi addressed students to

congratulate them for their excellence,

involvement and dedication in recognition of

their efforts. The prize distribution was categorized into three categories: Academics, sports and cultural

events. In each category first & second position holders were awarded with trophy, merit certificate. Special

cash prizes worth Rs. 5000 were awarded to overall topper of each course of each semester during academic

year 2015 - 16.

The two days saw exuberant students participate in a myriad of competitions. Competition was stiff and

judges had a difficult time choosing winners. The events were followed with the Prize Distribution

Ceremony by the Vice Chairman and Director of the Institute. The winners of all the events were encouraged

with Cash Prizes and Merit certificates.

The show concluded with a mesmerizing performance by a distinctly soulful voice of Shilpa Rao. Star

enchanted the environment with foot-tapping chartbusters with great energy. The audience danced to the

music and enjoyed thoroughly.

Farewell is a time to bid adieu to the passing out students on a note that the bond that has been established

with them would last forever and they would remain an integral part of the institute's family. GIBS ensure to

give a grand farewell to its passing out students every year. Continuing the trend “ABHIVYAKTI 2014-15" rd

Farewell Party for the outgoing students was organized on 23 April, 2016 at Mosaic Banquet, Wazirpur,

Delhi. The event was organized to give a warm farewell to students of last semester MBA, MBA (IB) and

MCA with great enthusiasm. There was dance, games, music and lots of fun during the farewell party. Dr. S.

Chaturvedi, Director wished the outgoing students for success in their life. Faculty members and staff

participated in the programme. Different tags were awarded to the students and main highlight of the show

was awarding of titles of Mr. & Ms. Abhivyakti. The event was full fun and frolic. A large number of faculty

and non teaching staff participated on this occasion along with students.

Winter FDP (Management) on Research Techniques and Tools:st

14-21 December, 2015

A Faculty Development Programme on Research Techniques & Tools was organized by the Institute fromst14-21 December, 2015. The purpose of this programme was to use the internal experts and bring them face-

to-face with other faculty members to disperse the know-how on focused areas. The aim was to create a

platform to deliver seminar/workshops and generate competition, expertise and disperse knowledge on thfocused areas. The programme was inaugurated in the morning on 14 December by the Director. He

expressed that the FDP would make the faculty members conversant with the statistical research methods,

techniques, SPSS and Eview. Thirty Six participants attended the FDP. Each day a new technique was

selected for interactive session in the classroom environment delivered by the Expert Group through

presentation-cum-discussion. A case study was taken up for interactive session and application of selected

technique. In the Hands-on Lab Sessions, the case study was solved using Statistical Package for Social

Sciences (SPSS 20.0) giving details of data entry, application and solution.

Seven days Workshop on PHP Application Development

& Security using MySQL was organized by the Institute th

from 14-20 December, 2015. Mr Devanshu Shukla from

VMDD Technologies & Hackveda Appsec Labs

conducted the FDP. He is having more than 10 years of

industry experience in the relevant discipline. It helped

faculty members in developing Network Based

Applications and implementing security over the

Internet using MySQL as a backend tool. Managing data

using MySQL database over the Internet was discussed

during the workshop. All IT faculty members

participated in the workshop.

FDP: Guidance to MBA Students for Summer Training - Developing Templates:th st18 – 31 May, 2016

Gitarattan International Business School organized a Faculty Development Programme on Guidance to th stMBA Students for Summer Training - Developing Templates from 18 - 31 May, 2016. The FDP was

designed to address the issues and challenges a management student faces in summer internship and also to

work out the nuances of the project report. Under the guidance of Director, Prof. S. Chaturvedi, all the

members of faculty brainstormed and deciphered the fine details of summer training projects for

management graduates.

The FDP was conducted in three phases:stlFirst Phase (18 -21 May, 2016): Initially, four teams of Marketing, HRM, Finance & IB, Operations

presented their working papers consisting the aspects to be covered for guiding students in their Summer

Internship.thlSecond Phase (24 -27 May, 2016): In the second phase the size of team was increased & detailed

discussions were carried out in each specialization of Marketing, HRM, Finance & IB, Operations. On

the basis of discussions, Templates for each stream were created for the use of students.st lThird Phase (30 -31 May, 2016): It involved the presentation and discussion of these templates by some

of the new set of faculty members to assess its acceptance and dissemination. This round was well

received and everyone learned the implementation of these templates thoroughly.

The final draft or the outcome of the FDP includes modules on 1) Profile of the Company, 2) Organizational

Culture, 3) Internal Analysis of the Company 4) External Analysis of the Company 5) Functional Analysis

HR 6) Functional Analysis Marketing 7) Functional Analysis Finance 8) Functional Analysis IB

A Summer Faculty Development Programme on Skilling up Faculty with Research Methodology in th th

Business Schools was organized by the Institute from 29 June - 8 July, 2016. The Programme was

inaugurated with lamp lightening ceremony by Prof. S. Chaturvedi, Director GIBS, Prof.Sajeevan Rao,

Professor Marketing, Bharti Vidyapeeth University, Delhi, in the presence of senior faculty members and

participants. In his inaugural address, Prof.Chaturvedi laid down the objectives of FDP and stressed upon

that delivery of quality education requires teaching fraternity equipped with research methods to guide

students in finding 'End to End' solutions. He defined that 'End to End' solution necessitates conceiving the

idea to final paper writing.

thChess & Pool Tournament was organized on 18 September, 2015 for the students under the various sports

activities periodically conducted by the Institute. Events were conducted in various rounds followed by
