RULES & GUIDELINES FOR EVENTS
ELOCUTION COMPETITION
The goal of Elocution competition is to encourage the skills and talents related
to the art of speaking (speech) in public for the goal of sharing one’s knowledge, faith & respect for Medical Profession.
Topic: Respect for Medical Profession
The speaker should strictly adhere to the following rules & guidelines:
1. The speech should not exceed 5 minutes in duration. TIME-LIMIT WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. A 30 seconds warning will be given.
2. The speaker is expected to memorize their speech and is not allowed to read any part of the speech from papers, notes or cards. Use of index cards is permitted but only for reference of outline and keywords or points, reading verbatim from note card is discouraged and will result in reduction in the participants score.
3. Languages: English, Hindi & Marathi only4. Points will be awarded based on the following criteria:
a. CONTENT
i. Greeting & introduction of the subject.
ii. Exposition of the main theme (Conciseness & Clarity of message, Originality/points of interest, Incorporation of Personal references, Quotations etc.)
iii. Moral & Practical Application.
iv. Conclusion.
b. SPEAKING PRESENTATION
i. Memorization (evaluated by pauses and amount of referring to Index cards)
ii. Verbal Clarity (Annunciation & Pronunciation of words, voice strength and projection.)
iii. Presentation/Speaking style (Mannerisms, Audience contact and voice modulation, Ability to keep the audience engaged by their speaking style.)
5. The decision of the Judges will be FINAL.

SKIT COMPETITION
Theme: Doctor-Patient Relationship
The speaker should strictly adhere to the following rules & guidelines:
1. The team participating in the skit should have a minimum of 5 members
and a maximum of 8 members.
2. The teams will be allowed a maximum of 2 minutes to prepare the stage
and 10 minutes to perform.
3. The Props will be arranged by the teams themselves (General props like
furniture eg. table/chairs will be made available at event venue).
4. The teams will be free to select the story/script of the skit relevant to the
theme. However, the script will have to be discussed with the event
coordinator (Dr. Potdar Ashutosh - Mob. No: 8438360791)before the event.
Language can be English, Hindi or/and Marathi.
5. Content should not be vulgar & cheap. It should not hurt any
religion/community’s feelings. No use of slangs and un-parliamentary
language in the skit.
6. The Competition will be judged on the basis of the script, facial expressions,
and creative use of props, stage mannerism, co-ordination, voice modulation
and overall performance.
7. Final ratings shall be decided by aggregating points awarded by a panel of
judges.
8. The Prize amount will be given to the Group as a whole (NOT INDIVIDUAL)
9. In case of any dispute, decision of the organizers of the event shall be final
and conclusive.

e-POSTER/PAPER PRESENTATION
Theme: Academic Honesty – Principles to Practice
OR
Bioethics
Only e-Posters/Papers will be accepted for the presentation.
Digital flex prints or charts will NOT be accepted.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR E-POSTER/PAPER PRESENTATION:
1. All e-Posters/Papers accepted for SMART 2019 will be
displayed in digital format ONLY on High resolution
monitors.
2. All posters/Papers should be in single PowerPoint slide in
Landscape orientation, of size: 40.97 inches by 23.04 inches
(This can be set in the PowerPoint by going to /Design/Page
setup, or in new version of MS Office Design/On-Screen
show/Custom page)
3. All e-Posters/Papers should include Title, Author, Co-
Author and Name of the Institution.
4. Font size should be minimum of 28 size or
Arial/Calibri/Times New Roman (for reference only font size
may be lowered.)
5. Images can be inserted but should be of High resolution.
