1.How to Enable the Extension
Go to System > Manage AITOC Modules, check
“Abandoned Carts Alerts Pro” and click “Save
modules settings” button in the top right corner.
2.Configuring the Extension. Part 1
- With the help of our module you can send a
notification three times to each customer. If
you would like to send a notification only
once to each customer, please indicate “0”
(zero) in “Second Delay Period (hours)”
and “Third Delay Period (hours)” fields.
- You can choose a different transactional
email template for each follow up.
- Please note that for the first follow up the
delay period is measured in minutes
and for the second and third ones it is
measured in hours.

- You can set it so, that sending of alerts will
stop, if the customer clicks the recovery link in
the alert message and/or makes a purchase.
- You can also include a discount coupon in
any of the follow-ups, indicate discount type
(percent, fixed amount per product or per
whole order), discount amount and expiry period.
This settings page can
be found in Admin Panel
> System > Configuration
> Catalog – Abandoned Cart Alerts.
You can get your copy of e-mails
You can disable sending reminders to
specific customer groups.
3.Configuring the Extension. Part 2
Here you can select statuses of orders that
can be considered as abandoned.

- Please set the time in hours for the order of
status selected above to be considered as
abandoned. If order has changed its status
within this time it won’t be considered as
abandoned
This settings page can
be found in Admin Panel
> System > Configuration
> Catalog – Abandoned Cart Alerts.
- With the help of our module you can send a

4. Check that the Basic Feature
(Email Sending) of the Extension
Works – Part 1
Once you have configured the extension, we recommend to make
sure, that alert emails are delivered (also you will see, if the alert
email format corresponds to your requirements).
For this, please do the following actions:
1) Make sure that “Send E-mails” option of the module is set to “No”
(System >> Configuration >> Catalog >> Abandoned Carts Alerts).
2) Go to Newsletter >> Abandoned Carts Alerts >> Pending Alerts and click “Add Alert” button:

Once you complete the above steps, please go to the next page.
5. Check that the Basic Feature (Email Sending) of the Extension Works – Part 2
Continuation:
3) Enter your email and other details,
for example:
Store View: English
Follow Up: First
Alert Will Be Sent On: Any date
Customer Email:
Customer First Name: Example
Customer Last Name: Example
Products: any product links or just
any text – this is for testing purposes
4) Click “Save and Send Out”
5) Check you email account
6) If the email didn’t get delivered to
neither inbox nor junk (spam) folder,
please make sure that your hosting
supports sending of emails via php.
7) If you received the email – great,
the extension works! If both the text
and format of the email suit you, you
can just set “Send E-mails” option to
“Yes” and get going. Otherwise
please edit the email text and format
it and set “Send Emails” to “Yes”
after that. At the “History” page you
will be able to see alerts that were
already sent to your customers.

6. Edit Text and Format of Alert Messages – Part 1
There are three templates for
abandoned carts alerts – a separate
template for each follow up message.
By default they all have the same
text, so please feel free to edit them
according to your requirements. For
this please do the following:
1) Go to System > Transactional
Emails
2) Click “Add New Template” button
3) In the “Template” dropdown
choose one of the module templates
(let’s say “Abandoned Cart The First
Follow Up”)

4) Click “Load Template” button.
5) Enter “Template Name”
6) If needed, edit the template
subject and content. 7) Click “Save Template” button.

{{var products}} variable
is used to display the list
of products, that were in
the abandoned cart.
{{var recover_url}} variable is
used to display the link,
clicking which a customer can
recover the abandoned cart.
{{var coupon}} and {{var
coupon_days}} variables are
used to display the coupon
code and coupon expiry date
accordingly (if admin allows
adding a coupon).
8. How to Generate and Send Alerts Manually, if Cron is not Enabled.
To generate and send alerts manually, please
go to admin area > Newsletter > Abandoned
Carts Alerts > Pending Alerts. To generate
alerts click “Update Queue Now” button –
alerts will be generated for the period
between “previous alert generation” and
“current time minus 10 minutes”.

Please select the necessary alerts from
the queue and either delete them or
send them by choosing the appropriate
action in the “Actions” dropdown and
clicking “Submit” button.

At the History page (admin area > Newsletter
> Abandoned Carts Alerts > History) you find
the list of sent alerts. Also there you can see
for which alerts recovery links were used,
when they were used and from which IP.
