Pricing & Licensing Overview: CA ARCserve r16.5

Component Pricing CA ARCserve Backup

The Component-Based Pricing model traditionally referred to as “a la carte” pricing is designed to help address basic backup requirements as well as complex IT configurations. The “Base” or Backup Server license is essential to every protection environment. The “Options” are add-on components to the “Base” and help unlock additional functionality on the Backup Server. “Options” are typically purchased via one of the 4 “Module” license bundles discussed later. When purchased individually, a single “Option” license typically serves the entire environment (except for the NDMP NAS Option which is licensed per-NAS head). “Agents” are installed on remote machines to be protected. One “Agent” license is required for each protected machine.

BASE

CA ARCserve Backup r16.5 for Windows

Typical Backup Server License.

CA ARCserve Backup r16.5 for Windows SBS Standard and Essentials Edition

Used as a more economical option to license Microsoft Small Business Server and Windows Server 2012 Essentials Edition.

CA ARCserve Backup r16.5 for Windows SBS Premium and Essentials Edition

Used as a more economical option to license Microsoft Small Business Server and Windows Server 2012 Essentials Edition.

OPTIONS

Central Management Option Required to manage multiple ‘CA ARCserve Backup Servers’ from a single ‘CA ARCserve Primary’ server One license per Primary Server \ Site.

Disaster Recovery Option Licensed just once per Backup Server Useful for all Windows Machines. • Client Agent required (licensed for

servers only) • Agent for Open File recommended

(not required) For BMR to different hardware: consider CA ARCserve D2D instead.

Storage Area Network (SAN) Option

Includes the TL Option. Only required when multiple backup servers write directly to the same shared SAN Tape Library.

Typically purchased as the “SAN Secondary Server Bundle” that includes: • SAN Option • Tape Library Option • CA ARCserve Backup Base

Enterprise Module The following features are included in the Enterprise Module: Multi-streaming (split data to multiple tapes) Staging with >2 streams Client Agent RAW partition backup Enterprise Option for VSS Hardware Snapshot Enterprise Option for IBM 3494 Enterprise Option for StorageTek ACSLS Image Option

NDMP NAS Option Required for NAS devices that use NDMP Protocol (Once license per “NAS Head”).

Tape Library Option A Tape Library with a single DRIVE is free (does not require Tape Library Option) No limit on tape slots or capacity. Single license, no matter how many TLs. No need to add more TL Options licenses to the same base.

Global Dashboard Required in order to view Dashboard and Infrastructure Visualization reports across multiple protected sites. Used like an Option. Not included in any Simplified Pricing bundle other than the “Application Module with D2D and Replication”.

Pricing & Licensing Overview: CA ARCserve r16.5

RPO RTO Based Pricing There are 2 RPO RTO Licensing Programs available:

Per-Socket Per-Socket licensing allows unlimited access to the selected bundled ARCserve product technology to protect an unlimited number of virtual machines (VMs) deployed within one socket (with unlimited cores). Socket-Based Pricing(SBP) is targeted at Virtual Environments.

Per-TB Managed Capacity Pricing (MCP) is ideal for medium to large environments. Provides unlimited access to selected product technologies to protect purchased capacity . MCP is licensed per “protected Terabyte” and allows unlimited access to the selected product technologies to protect up to the license capacity purchased with a minimum purchase quantity of one terabyte. A customer may choose the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) MCP bundle or the Recovery Time Objective-Recovery Point Objective (RPO-RTO) MCP bundle based on their data protection needs. • Licensed by data size per “protected Terabyte” • Minimum purchase quantity of 1TB • Sold with Enterprise Maintenance only • 2-tier distribution only

‘Socket Count’ is defined as the number of Physical Processor (CPU) Sockets located on the device hardware being protected.

Server A depicts a system that has one socket containing a quad core processor so here one ‘per socket’ license is required (per protected server) Server B depicts a system that has 2 sockets each containing a dual core so here two ‘per socket’ licenses are required; one per each socket (per protected server)

CA ARCserve RPO-RTO All-Inclusive Solution Bundles include CA ARCserve Replication (for Applications) and CA ARCserve High Availability in addition to everything included in the RPO Bundle.

Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) are essential benchmarks for any data protection strategy.

CA ARCserve® RPO Solution Bundles enable use of CA ARCserve Backup (including all server editions, agents and options), CA ARCserve D2D for Windows and Linux (including all CA ARCserve Central Applications) and CA ARCserve Replication (file-only).

Pricing & Licensing Overview: CA ARCserve r16.5

CA ARCserve Managed Capacity Program (MCP) Pricing is designed for large companies with complex IT environments and highly demanding requirements with over 1TB of protected storage capacity. Then they select the capacity (1TB, 2 - 5 TB, 6 - 15 TB, 16 - 25 TB, 26 - 50 TB, 51 - 100 TB or 100+ TB) that matches the volume of data they will protect.

MCP: How to calculate the price?

How to calculate the price:

1. Count the number of terabytes to be protected

2. Select the required managed capacity program

3. Multiply the number of TBs by the managed capacity program unit price to get the final price

For example, let’s say a customer wants to protect 4 TB of Data and would like to go with “CA ARCserve r16 RPO Managed Capacity - ARCserve Backup and ARCserve D2D and ARCserve Replication-File Only” MCP Option.

1. Number of terabytes to be protected = 4

2. If the price of “CA ARCserve r16.5 RPO Managed Capacity (with 1 year Enterprise support)” is $ 9,540 USD

3. Final Price = 4 x $ 9,540 = $ 38,160 USD
