Week by Week through The Year of Mercy This Jubilee Y ear of Mercy and Pope Francis’ ministry have

renewed our understanding that the Church’s heart is open wide

to all, and the heart of the gospel is God’s mercy. Flooded with

God’s mercy, our hearts should overflow as channels bringing

to wounded and weary hearts Jesus; healing mercy. For Jesus

warns, our own salvation is not guaranteed by the Liturgy of

the Word (“you taught in our streets”) nor by the Eucha-

rist (“we ate and drank in your company”) (Luke

13:26). People far from that banquet, “from the east

and the west and from the north and the south….will

recline at table in the kingdom of God” (13:29). Ra-

ther, showing mercy is key to obtaining mercy our-

selves (Matthew 5:7). So we should never dare ask

what “someone” asked Jesus, “Lord, will only a few

people be saved?” (Luke 13:23). The crucial ques-

tion is “Will I be saved? And Jesus’ answer is another

question: “Have you shown mercy to everyone, freely,

gladly, no limits, no conditions, no exceptions?”

Semana tras semana durante el Año de la Mesericordia

Este Año Jubilar de la Misericordia y el ministerio del Papa Francisco

vienen renovando nuestro entendimiento de que el corazón de la Iglesia

esta abierto para todas las personas y, el corazón del Evangelio es la

misericordia de Dios. Inundados con la misericordia de Dios, nuestros

corazones deben desbordarse como arroyos llevado a las personas can-

sada y herida la misericordia consoladora de Jesús. Ya que Jesús señala

que nuestra salvación no esta garantizada por la Liturgia de la

Palabra (“tu has ensenado en nuestras plazas”) ni por la Euca-

ristía (“Hemos comido y bebido contigo”) (Lucas 13:26).

Habrá personas lejos de ese banquete “del oriente y del

poniente, del norte y del sur...participaran en el banquete

del Reino de Dios” (13:29). Por el contrario, mostrar mise-

ricordia es la clave para obtener misericordia nosotros

mismos (Mateo 5:7). Par que nunca debamos atrevernos a

preguntar lo que “alguien” le pregunta Jesús: “Señor, ¿es

verdad que son pocos los que se salvan?” (Lucas 13:23).

La pregunta debería ser: “¿Y o me salvare?” Y la respuesta

de Jesús seria otra pregunta: ¿Has sido misericordioso con tu

prójimo, de manera libre, con alegría, sin limites con condi-

ciones, sin excepciones?”

Did you know?

Pool safety is about more than swimming Swimming is a fun way to have some fun and beat

the heat during the summer. Parents should teach

their children about swimming safety, including

how to identify and handle uncomfortable situa-

tions. Although you may be watching closely to make

sure your kids are safe in the water, don’t forget about when they’re

walking around, sitting out by the pool, using the restrooms or out

of sight. Teach your children what to do when they feel uncomforta-

ble at the pool, and let them know it is okay to walk away and find a

parent or trusted adult at any time. For more information and a copy

The Knights’ Corner Last Sunday, a small crowd of Brother Knights and

their families enjoyed a tasty lunch and sampled a

variety of home-made treats for dessert. We all

were blessed with the warmth of friendship evident throughout

the event at River Park.

The council welcomes a new member, Fabian Torres , his wife

Ariana, and his precious children. The Torres family recently

moved into our area, and Fabian graciously transferred into our

Queen of Angels Council 11465. We look forward to working

together.
