Week by Week through The Year of Mercy

World Youth day in Krakow: “Blesses are the merciful, for they

will be shown mercy” This week, the universal Church focuses

in prayerful solidarity on World Youth Day in Krakow, where

WYD’s founder, Saint Paul II, severs as archbishop. Its theme

coincides with that of Pope Francis’ Jubilee Year of Mercy:

“Blesses are the merciful, for they will be shown mer-

cy” (Matthew 5:7). Today’s Gospel echoes the same

theme, as Jesus teaches us not only words to pray, but

what deeds must match authentic prayer. How beauti-

fully down-to earth is Jesus’ portrait of a God who can

be trusted to do what is best for us. A pesky neighbor

disturbs a sleeping friend and disturbs the household.

Yet beautiful images unfold. Persevering prayer re-

ceives active, practical mercy in loaves of bread,

recalling Luke’s unique expression for the Eucharist,

“the breaking of bread” (Luke 24:35; Acts2:42). WYD,

the Jubilee, and Jesus thus unite to define perfect prayer

as preserving communion with God and unconditional

mercy toward our neighbor.

día mundial de la juventud en Cracovia: "bendice a los misericordio-

sos, porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia" Esta semana, la Iglesia uni-

versal se centra en solidaridad orante sobre la JMJ en Cracovia, donde

el fundador de la JMJ, Saint Paul II, corta como arzobispo. Su tema

coincide con la de Francisco 'Año Jubilar de la Merced: "bendice a los

misericordiosos, porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia" (Mateo 5: 7).

El Evangelio de hoy se hace eco del mismo tema, como Jesús

nos enseña no sólo palabras para orar, pero ¿qué acciones debe

coincidir con la oración auténtica. Como muy bien los pies en la tierra es el retrato de un Dios que se puede confiar

para hacer lo que es mejor para nosotros de Jesús. Un ve-

cino molesto perturba un amigo para dormir y perturba el

hogar. Sin embargo, bellas imágenes se despliegan. la

oración perseverante recibe piedad activa, práctica en

hogazas de pan, recordando la expresión única de Lucas a

la Eucaristía, "la fracción del pan" (Lucas 24:35; Hechos

2: 42). JMJ, el Jubileo, y Jesús lo tanto se unen para definir

la oración perfecta como la preservación de la comunión con

Dios y la misericordia incondicional hacia nuestro vecino.

Did you know?

Parents should be wary of online solicitation. A study on

online victimization found that approximately one in five children

receive sexual solicitation from a stranger over the internet. Given

today’s reliance on online contact, imagine how much that num-

ber has grown over the last several years. Children who use the

internet cannot be totally safe from dangers, because the internet

is open to all, but parents should monitor activity and sites visited

to ensure that their kids aren’t being contacted by predators. Talk

to your child about internet safety and appropriate vs. inappropri-

Religious Education class registrations will start August 6th

and 7th after each Mass in the Parish Hall, and again Au-

gust 13th and 14th, also after every Mass in the Parish Hall.

Baptismal Certificates must be presented at the time of Regis-

tration. Students who are not Baptized are still eligible to en-

roll in Religious Education classes but must make arrange-

ments for Baptism prior to receiving the Sacrament of First

Holy Communion at the Church Office.

Baptismal Class The exciting and meaningful experience of Baptism strengthens

our families and parish community with God. Whether baptized as

a baby or an adult, Parents and Godparents need to attend a Baptis-

mal class before baptizing his or her child. Baptismal classes are

scheduled the last Tuesdays of each month. The next scheduled

baptismal class is July 26, 2016 at 6:30p.m.

NFP Awareness Week Who can use NFP? Any married couple can use NFP! A woman need not have “regular” cycles. NFP education helps couples to fully understand

their combined fertility, thereby helping them to either achieve or avoid a pregnancy. The key to the successful use of NFP is cooperation

and communication between husband and wife—a shared commit-ment. NFP is unique among methods of family planning because it

enables its users to work with the body rather than against it. Fertility is viewed as a reality to live, not a problem to be solved. (What is NFP?

The gospel this weekend shows a picture where

Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray. It’s a

beautiful and inspiring scene where the Master

of prayer is with his followers who have a great

longing to pray. Jesus taught them the Lord’s

Prayer, calling God, Father. Prayer is a very

important aspect of our christian life. Pope

Francis says in one of his homilies that “prayer

is the strength of the Christian and of every person who be-

lieves.” Prayer is the source of our inpiration and our strength.

The pope says further that in the weakness and frailty of our

lives, we can turn to God with the confidence of children and

enter into communion with him. In the face of so many wounds

that hurt us and could harden our hearts, we are called to dive

into the sea of prayer, which is the sea of God’s boundless love

and mercy. Let us, like the disciples of Jesus, ask him, “Lord

teach us how to pray”.

¿Sabia Usted? La vigilancia constante sirve mucho para proteger a sus

hijos de depredadores. Gran par te de nuestra sociedad

opera con confianza ciega, y esa confianza algunas veces puede

llevar a los padres de familia a hacer malas decisiones cuando

abusadores se esconden detrás de la fachada de adultos bien

conocidos y en quienes se confía. Los padres de familia deben

Misa Diaria Seria edificante ver a cada familia venir a la Misa diaria a

menos una vez por semana aparte del sábado en la tarde o

el domingo. Por favor animen a nuestra juventud a venir

a Misa daría y si no esta trabajando de un buen ejemplo y

venga con ellos. En estos día participando en la Misa diaria y reci-

biendo la Santa Comunión. La Misa Diaria dura aproximadamente

½ hora. El Rosario se reza 30 minutos antes de la misa durante la

semana (en inglés). Los invitamos a que nos acompañen.

Clases Bautismales

La experiencia emocionante y significativa del Bautismo for-

talece nuestras familias y de la comunidad parroquial con

Dios. Ya sea bautizado cuando era un bebé o un adulto, el

Bautismo es el primer paso en un viaje de por vida con Dios.

Los padres y padrinos deben asistir a una clase de bautismo

antes de bautizar a su hijo o hija. Clases bautismales se han

El Evangelio de este fin de semana mues-

tra un cuadro donde Jesús enseña a sus

discípulos a orar. Es una hermosa e inspir-

adora escena en la que el Maestro de la

oración es con sus seguidores que tienen

un gran deseo de orar. Jesús les enseñó la

oración del Señor, pidiendo a Dios, el Pa-

dre. La oración es un aspecto muy importante de nuestra

vida cristiana. Francisco dice en una de sus homilías que

"la oración es la fortaleza del cristiano y de toda persona

que cree." La oración es la fuente de nuestra Inpiration y

nuestra fuerza. El Papa dice además que en la debilidad y

la fragilidad de nuestras vidas, podemos recurrir a Dios

con la confianza de los niños y de entrar en comunión con

él. A la vista de tantas heridas que nos hacen daño y podría

endurecer nuestros corazones, estamos llamados a sumerg-

irse en el mar de la oración, que es el mar de amor y miser-

icordia infinita de Dios. Vamos, como los discípulos de

Jesús, a preguntarle: "Señor, enséñanos a orar".
