What is the Beautification & Appearance Commission?The Beautification & Appearance Commission’s five commissioners are appointed by members of the Lompoc City Council. How the commission evolves is dependent upon the strengths and creativity of its present commissioners as they work within bounds of the following Mission. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm, in the Panorama room at the Anderson’s Recreation Center.

miSSion:To recommend and act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the beautification and appearance of the city of Lompoc and its environs, by:

² Stimulating public interest in the overall community appearance and in preserving and enhancing the natural features of the Valley of Flowers,

² Encouraging citizens, the business community, and governmental agencies in planting well suited trees, flowers, shrubs, and the like,

² Encouraging cooperation and coordination among private citizens and businesses to improve and make more attrac-tive their residential and commercial properties (lighting, signage, and aesthetics), and

² Preparing special appearance reports relative to areas and conditions of public interest and concern as requested by City agencies--this will include an annual written report to the City Council on or before the first day of April of each year that includes projects completed in the past year and projected projects.

oVeraLL awarD is a single award given for the best overall beautification and community minded group, company, or individual.

honoraBLe mentionS are multiple awards given in any categories.

Possible categories: residential, commercial, mini-scapes,schools, public buildings, apartment complexes, clubs, places of worship, mobile home parks, drought tolerant, etc.

Property Improvement Awards are awarded quarterly to homeowners, groups and businesses that make landscaping and/or exterior appearance improvements –

efforts which improve the City of Lompoc and their neighborhood’s appearance.
