ABSTRACT

Different school practice different techniques in memorizing sifir. Some teachers practice it by asking random questions involving sifir but some teachers apply partition squares that range from 1 to 12. The first method require a lot of time to memorize "sifir" while the second method using drill routine to fill the value of the empty squares of first until the 12th range. The objective of the "Pola Sifir" is to attract the elementary students to blend in with the "Pola Sifir" Teaching Aids tool, also to continue mathematical interest until primary school and importantly is to spark the intimacy of students-parents relationship. “Pola Sifir” uses “Power point” animation. Numbers are divided into two categories, ones place (“sa”) and tens place (“puluh”). The ones place (“sa”) use odd and even number pattern while the tens place (“puluh”) uses logical approach. “Pola Sifir” can help students to memorize the sifir in the nick of time. Keywords: Odd number, even number, logical approach.

ABSTRACT

The teaching and learning process has evolved over time. Although the chalk-and-talk technique offers an efficient method to present information to a large number of students, it may result in students listening passively without really understanding the lesson. The use of technology has no doubt facilitate the process by enabling online content, assessment and forum that increase the depth of learning and provide students with a method for approaching independent practice. However, creativity and fun are still important elements in classroom teaching and learning process. Creativity keeps the students engaged, while fun has a positive effect on motivation levels, determining what students learn and how much they retain. Thus educators have to continuoulsy search and develop tools to successfully engage their students, especially if the students are mature learners or very young children. Accounting Pick and Paste (APP) is an interactive learning product developed with the objective to facilitate learners who want to learn basic accounting concepts in a very simplified and fun manner. This product can help educators overcome students’ inattentiveness problem by making lessons more enjoyable, personally interesting and motivating. Instead of merely memorising, learners would also be able to apply what they have learned during class in a more realistic way. The product has high potential to be commercialised as it can easily be customised to other field of studies and different groups of learners; i.e. mature or young learners. ABSTRACT

Preclinical science students lack the understanding of complex structures such as the central nervous system as they lack firm understanding of its basic anatomical structure. As brainstem anatomy is essential to the function of the central nervous system, a weak grasp of its basic structure stands as a barrier when students delve into more complex matters such as neurophysiology and neuropathology. The aim of this teaching and learning method is to ease and improve students understanding of the brainstem, its relations with surrounding structures as well as the anatomical origin of the cranial nerves. This method is unique as it incorporates sculpting and modelling into a modern learning environment as well as developing students’ fine motor skills alongside visual-spatial cognitive abilities. This method allows creativity, imagination and fun into the learning environment without neglecting the main aim of understanding anatomical structures and its clinical features. Clay modelling and sculpting has tremendously impacted student understanding towards the focused structure as it lifts 2D images from textbooks into handmade 3D models. By studying 2D diagrams, and making 3D models, students have a better appreciation and understanding towards complex anatomical structures as they are required to study deep structures first before building towards superficial structures. After constructing the brainstem model, students find it easier to identify structures of the brainstem as well as its relation towards other structures. This method stands as a precursor towards better anatomy teaching and learning resources and will benefit anatomy students worldwide ranging from primary to tertiary education. Keywords: Anatomy education, Brainstem, Modelling clay, Sculpting, Teaching innovation.

ABSTRACT

Peranti-peranti mudah alih popular seperti telefon bimbit pintar, iPad, iPod, Tablet

Penggunaan nota

ringkas ini bukan sahaja memudahkan pemahaman pelajar bahkan turut membantu

mengekalkan ingatan jangka masa panjang mereka.

ABSTRACT

Linear algebra is an abstract mathematical field and one of the major mathematical branches applied in science and technology. Thus, it is not an easy task to enlighten students on this subject. System of Linear Equations (SLE) is the main topic in this course which can be solved by using Elementary Row Operation (ERO). The five common mistakes by undergraduate students are miscalculation, operational mistakes, incomplete answer, wrong method of solution and matrix incorrectly transferred from question. The objectives of this project are to prevent the common mistakes occur and then improved proficiency of students in solving SLE.

ABSTRACT

Based on the title, the researcher has identified three main problem statement. First, undergraduate student finds difficulties to begin their first ideation even though the correct technique has been briefed, it is hard to identified potential suitable shape on subject matter that can be explore more and third problem statement is jewellery that contain many parts like necklace is challenging to find suitable shape for each part based on subject matter. This research was developed based on three objectives. First objective is to facilitate the ideation process among undergraduate student, to identify huge amount of ideation in shorter duration and third objective is to produce a basic ideation guideline for undergraduate students. The reversal characteristic in ‘BDPQ’ alphabet been consolidated with ideation process will makes ideation process more diverse and interesting. The length of ideation time can be shortened so that student will have more time for other task. Any subject matter will be easily explored and complicated subject matter that have difficult shape can be easily developed into jewellery design. Easy guideline for beginner will have positive impact towards undergraduate student if they find that ideation is not too difficult if they have one guideline that they comfortable to follow and at the same time the sophisticated jewellery design can be produced, and any subject matter can easily be transformed into jewellery design. This situation will make it easier for that jewellery being commercialise and at the same time it will enhance the commercialisation potential.

ABSTRACT

The education system always requires improvements in teaching and learning (TnL) methods in order to ensure effective delivery of lessons. A theoretical subject such as Fundamentals of Management is sometimes difficult for students to understand or visualize the lessons in class because they have very little or no exposure of the working environment. Most of the terms used in this subject are new and unfamiliar to the students. These situations can lead to frustration, demotivation and loss of interest in the subject. That is why the elements of creativity and innovation must be embedded into the learning system. This project named Climb the Corporate Ladder (CTCL) Board Game applies a game-based learning method that incorporates fun and promotes “learning by doing". The main objective of this game is to help students have a better understanding and interest in the subject. The novelty of this game is that it is a combination of game and learning in TnL, where the students can role-play as workers, supervisors or managers. Students will go through activities related to real situation and challenges in managing an organization and their goal is to reach the highest level of management. It is designed based on the four (4) management functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling (POLC). As management is everybody’s business, we believe that the game is applicable and suitable for both the learning institutions and organizations to use in their training programs for the development of efficient and effective employees.

ABSTRACT

Traditional teaching and learning (TnL) method that focuses only on one way communication could lead to boredom. And this situation will subsequently affect those slow learners and decrease interest in learning. Innovation and creativity are the elements needed in contemporary teaching and learning (TnL) in education system nowadays. This approach is also applicable in Islamic education. It indirectly proves that teaching can be effectively delivered through some other fun methods than in a classroom. This project, which is Fan-Q Board Game aims to provide alternative approach to support efforts to improve the quality TnL delivery. Fan-Q Board Game embeds sense of playing while learning and implemented with a wide variety of game designs aimed at enhancing learning experiences among students. The activities of the Fan-Q Board Game can help pupils in remembering the facts of Islamic history, animal stories based on Quranic verses, religious teachings and remembrances of dhikr more quickly. In addition, the implementation of Fan-Q Board Game activities can foster positive attitudes such as teamwork, patience and honesty among children. This game allows for active participations among pupils as part of TnL proceses and thus, encourages two-way communication. Having this as part of the process could enhance pupils’ understanding about particular topics. The Fan-Q Board Game-based learning design has high prospect and potential to be applied in the context of Islamic education at all ages.

ABSTRACT

Effective learning is important in increasing learners’ understanding and achievement throughout the learning process. In teaching system design and development (SDD) for students in higher institution, the instructor needs to find a way to ensure that the students’ knowledge, skill and experience are sufficient and practical to be used later when they join the industry. Therefore, innovative teaching has been introduced in teaching SDD whereby the involvement from the industry is considered as ‘Real World’ Learning Method (ReWL) in order to increase learners’ understanding and real experience in solving real project from the industry. This method is used to increase learners’ experience and confidence in designing and developing system. The ReWL method that is imposed to SDD class can be useful in educating the learners to familiarize and build their confidence in SAD project. ReWL method has helped the industry to increase their efficiency in handling online services to their customers. The product from this teaching method has been approved by the experts in the industry whereby the product will be used for their business operation. It shows that ReWL teaching method has contributed effective teaching learning since the product of the SDD is accepted and usable by the industry and the class requirements. ABSTRAK

VSLT-SSS: Video Student Learning Time- Sebelum Semasa Selepas merupakan

kod QR mengikut keperluan masing-masing semasa membuat bacaan awal nota

kuliah.

ABSTRACT

One of the components of learning English is Grammar, and the very basic part of learning Grammar is Parts-of-Speech, where the majority of students are still grappling in understanding the usage of it in sentences. Hence, this innovation in Grammar learning would assist students and language learners in categorization of words in Part-of-Speech in order to understand its usage in sentences. PoS Tagger would be used to categorize words taken from sentences of an article. Part-of-Speech tagging aims to assign a specific tag to each word of a sentence to indicate the function of that word in a specific context based on certain guidelines (M.H.Btoush, 2016).The various applications of PoS tagging would be very helpful in assisting the language learners in identifying Grammar correction and recognizing the many categorization of Parts-of-Speech in sentences, namely Nouns, Verbs, Pronouns, Prepositions, Adverbs and many other tags. , In carrying out this activity, students are required to get an article via e-newspaper, namely New Straits Times online. Following that, they are to highlight designated Parts-of-Speech that they can identify from the sentences of the article. The identified words then, are to be placed into different columns based on their categories, namely Verb, Nouns, Adjectives, Adverbs, etcetera. As students are nowadays spend most of their time on electronic gadgets, this application would give better understanding for them on the usage of Parts-of-Speech in Grammar learning. The target group would be the language learners of higher institution as well as school children where it is an innovative way to attract their interest to understanding Grammar learning. Keywords:.

ABSTRACT

Absenteeism is an act of habitual absence from work or schools. Absenteeism is considered as one of the worst social problem that may lead into another social problems, such as theft, drug, and bullying. Chronic absenteeism affect the performance of the individual; as well as those around them. In the context of Malaysian, Ministry of Education recorded that more than 37, 000 students were found absence from schools in the year 2017. Recent survey on the similar issue within the university context show that approximately 15 students were barred from examination due to poor attendance. Henceforth, there is a need for a new mechanism to replaced conventional attendance taking method. Therefore, Autonomous Attendance Monitoring System (AMoS) was developed in three stages. First, a qualitative study was conducted to investigate the problem with attendance monitoring. Then, the prototype of AMoS was developed based on PHP programming language, MySQL database, HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery. Lastly, a quantitative study was conducted to measure the extent of user satisfaction towards using AMoS. In term of novelty, AMoS improved the current absenteeism workflow implemented at UiTM, introduce new novel ideas of autonomous YY-ZZ monitoring, and a new absenteeism scale Ami-X. The system can be commercialized to any organization, such as academic institution; kindergarten, schools, universities, boarding schools, etc. The prototype of AMoS is protected by Copyright Act 1987, and available online at Google Play Store.

ABSTRACT

Having a complete and adequate data profiling system about students is very vital as it can be used to obtain statistics or informative summaries on any matters concerning students. Currently, in UiTM Cawangan Kelantan (UiTMCK), the students’ data could be found in the data system which is only available at the Hal Ehwal Akademik Department but with limited access. There are two types of data keeping in UiTMCK namely paper printed version and soft copy. The data of paper printed version are kept in the students file gathered during registration and are quite comprehensive whereas the soft copy data is concerned students’ academic results only. Thus, to have a one stop-center and fast-tracking of students’ data profiling, a system to collect information is created known as Students’ e-Profiling (SeP). This system is meant for collecting data in order to get information about students’ background concerning non-academic matters. The system is unique in the sense that it can be accessed either by using QR code or a link for the students to fill up required particulars. The system is beneficial as it could help academic staff to identify the students in terms of income, health or any physical limitation that needs further attention. The information gathered through this system could be used in the process of zakat selection, food bank selection, time table preparation etc.

ABSTRACT

UiTM Academic Advisors or commonly known as ‘Penasihat Akademik (PA)’ are appointed among lecturers to be responsible for a group of students. PA is responsible to advice those students with regards to their academic planning, to monitor their academic activities as well as academic achievements. PA can play an important role in ensuring the students meet UiTM’s academic objectives which include graduating on time with CGPA more than 3.00. However, due to demanding schedule of PA as lecturers, they seem to be having lack of time to schedule meetings with the students and unsystematic recording of PA-students meetings will make monitoring almost impossible. Consequently problematic as well as weak students cannot be identified sooner for appropriate actions leading to poor academic performance that would affects faculty’s overall performances. Therefore, Academic Advisors’ Record Keeping and Monitoring System (AA-ReKeMoS) is necessary to enable PA- students’ activities to be frequently updated and the information can be made accessible to Head of Faculty for monitoring purposes. Apart from monitoring individual PA’s activities, Head of Faculty can also obtain information about each student from the system. AA-ReKeMoS is cheap, manageable and can be widely applied since it utilized Microsoft Excel and Google Drive that can be easily accessed and are free for all the Academic Advisors.

ABSTRACT

e-SEAT@UiTMCK: a web application which allows UiTMCK’s students to check their seating throughout the final examination period. Before the introduction of e-SEAT@UiTMCK, each student was given an examination slip which stated all necessary information regarding the examination, excluding the seating arrangement in the examination hall. Students needed to check their seat number manually from a long list issued by UiTMCK’s Academic Assessment Division before they enter the examination hall. There were several problems with the manual system especially those involved human mistakes such as students mistakenly checked their course code, group and seat number. Hence, the innovation of e-SEAT@UiTMCK is the solution to these problems. The objective of e-SEAT@UiTMCK is to provide systematic system for seating arrangement and thus facilitate the students to access their seat numbers. This app is accessible via the link provided in UiTMCK official website. e-SEAT@UiTMCK offers immense convenience particularly to the students as it can be accessed through any electronic device (e. g.: laptops, smartphones, tabs and etc.) anywhere and anytime with the internet access. By just one click, students can check their seat number by providing their identification number (ID No) throughout the examination period. e-SEAT@UiTMCK allows the examination process to run more systematically according to the examination’s rules and regulations. The innovation of e-SEAT@UiTMCK is aligned with the introduction IR4.0 which encourages technological innovation in ICT especially in higher education.

ABSTRACT

Batik making is perceived as a complex and upscale handcraft required for roomy areas, customized devices and materials, along with highly specialized skills. This misconception towards batik production is afraid can erode batik’s appeal especially among the new generation. The objective of Batik-Kita is to convince the society that ‘everyone can batik’. This noble idea is believed capable to gain back batik’s popularity, thus impress and inspire more batik entrepreneurs and enthusiasts. ‘Batik Kirai’ is an example of Batik-Kita concept, proving that exclusive, attractive yet economical batik can be produced by anybody at any corner of the house, exploiting their available tools, materials and skills. Distinctively, in the production of Batik Kirai, the mold of traditional ‘Roti Kirai’ (Net Bread or Lace Pancake) is used in place of canting and/or metal blocks to design personalized batik motives, while the much cheaper and safer flour batter replaces hot wax or resin as dye-resistant substance. Furthermore, the painting process can be performed even on finished garments, especially to restore faded clothes. Indeed, Batik-Kita: Batik Kirai has a good potential to spring up entirely new design tradition, allowing boundless freedom and creativity. As a result of a better understanding of Batik making, absolutely the new generation of Malaysian textile artists and designers will be brave to explore and go beyond the boundaries of cultural heritage and emerge as remarkable innovators in contemporary batik art.

ABSTRACT

Mosques are classified as not for profit organization that deal with public funds received mainly form government allocations, corporate bodies as well as public donations. Hence, the recording and bookkeeping is one of the crucial aspects to be considered, especially in handling funds received and disbursed by them. The fact that those handling the mosques’ funds may not be financially literate posed a key challenge to an efficient and proper management of cash flows. Owing to that, the objective of Al-Falah is to assist these trustees of mosques funds in bookkeeping and recording their daily receipts and disbursements. Al-Falah is system that is simple to understand yet easy to operate among computer users. It can run under a moderate computer specification. The base was Microsoft Excel and it contains several key features of recording monthly receipts, disbursements and generating monthly report. At the month end, users will be able to determine the remaining funds to be brought forward to the next period. The added feature of auto generating a statement for the current month is an important record for auditing of funds by the governing body. Al-Falah is expected to solve some criticism for improper recording and reporting of receipts and disbursements of mosques. Henceforth, Al-Falah shall be updated, adding more useful features such as yearly recording to it and is expected to be used by every mosque in Kelantan.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, the opportunity to get a desire job after graduating is challenging due to competition between graduates from others local and private universities. Therefore, one way to attract future employers that may increase a chance to be employed is by providing them with outstanding and quality academic vitae. As we know, academic vitae which contains personal academic information is important document for a job application. It will benefit for both employer and candidate. The employer will be able to access sufficient information with regards not only candidate strengths and weaknesses in the academic, but also what they had learned and how the employer can benefit from it. Thus, this can assist the employer to determine whether the candidate is a right employee for the job. However, to provide a comprehensive academic vitae requires extensive writing content and paper sheets. This academic vitae will cause future employers need to spend more time to review each of the sheets. For that reason, e-Graduate Academic Vitae was developed which converted the vitae from paper basis to form of mobile application whereby more user-friendly and less cost. This app contains personal academic achievement including the achievement comparison among colleagues and the tasks production throughout the study. Besides, detail description of academic course undertaken by the candidate also included. Basically, e-Graduate Academic Vitae provide a comprehensive information on the academic ability and performance of higher learning institution graduate. Through the survey, majority of the graduates and employers agreed that e-Graduate Academic Vitae is a better instrument in providing different dimensional perspectives for the job application process than conventional method.

ABSTRACT

Kumpulan Wang Pengurusan Pembangunan Pelajar (KWPPP) is a fund that

provides for student activities. Student or group of students can apply some funding

for their activity from this fund. This application process has been done manually.

There are more than hundred applications must be processed within two weeks by

secretariat. The problems had been faced by students or secretariat are; documents

missing, misconducted, and some other problems that lead to application unable to

process within two weeks. These problems occurred because of lack of staff to

handle the application, unproper records keeping and some others human factors.

Therefore, the objective of this study is to automate the fund application process. To

solve these problems, the information management system has been developed to

manage fund application through online. This system is called KW3P which can

manage application efficiently as well as improve transparencies of fund approval

process. This system can be considered a novelty product because it is the first

system implemented in UiTM that used to manage fund application and provided

with usable features; track reimbursing of fund, monitor reimburse fund and

produces some management reports to measure department activity. This system

can be extended use to other agencies.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, most of the governments in the world facing a challenging task of reviewing and updating laws and regulations that have been established for centuries. Most of these rules are outdated, obsolete, and sometimes overlapping and duplicative. According to the World Regulatory quality Index 2017, Malaysia ranked 47th out of 193 countries. It is high time for Malaysia to enhance the quality of its regulations by practicing good regulatory practices. Due to that reason, Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) collaboration with the Kelantan State Government and UiTM Cawangan Kelantan initiated a deregulation project. This project involved two (2) main phases: (i) gathering data and information regarding the existing regulations (ii) identifying any outdated, overlapped and duplicated regulations and need to be reviewed for improvement. The aim of this project is to reduce the number of unnecessary regulations and requirements. It is also to make the regulations are simpler, transparent and focuses on the legitimate regulatory process. This project benefits to the state government by producing a systematic regulatory mapping known as catalogue that can solve the problems of reviewing and updating existing regulations. These processes are important to make sure all the regulations are update according to current changes.

ABSTRACT

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam, which has been made obligatory by Allah to each and every Muslim to carry out. In Malaysia the total of zakat collection has increased drastically yearly. Nevertheless, certain zakat type such as zakat for business has not shown a drastic increase, but a decreasing trend. In 2018, Pusat Pungutan Zakat (PPZ) Selangor has reported a decrease by 3 percent for zakat on business from 2017 to 2018. One of the reasons highlighted is due to inefficiency of zakat administrator. Therefore the objective of this study is to propose a new tool to the Zakat administrator to enhance zakat collection by providing an application system to calculate business zakat easily. The transaction can be documented and recorded for business use in computing zakat payable. This application system can encourage people or organizations to calculate Zakat systematically as the system can be easily accessed, save the time and provide systematic computation to calculate business zakat for business entities.

ABSTRACT

Malaysian batik has become a brand identity characteristic of the country from

traditionalistic status as a collective craft. As batik’s perpetuity is due to a broadening

of its branding perceptions, from being “less a craft (to) more of an art”, innovation

centred to on creating new markets and image branding has also contributed to the

industry’s economy by promoting batik as a form of aesthetic form of brand image

towards an essential parts of symbolic innovation. As fabric waste material is a

problem in the industry, the goal of this project is to develop new line of accessories

for children’s toy by re-using and re-cycling combination material of denim and cotton

batik to create interesting design pieces of children product accessories using these

sustainable materials. The research objective of this project is to sustain batik

towards the industry particularly craft batik contemporary product design into highest

level of brand identity in the market and adding more aesthetical value with eco-

friendly material. By applying the themes of ‘Harimau’ and ‘Naga’ characteristics that

forms the brand of RIGA, this product forms the emergence of batik as an aesthetic

and commercial-art towards contemporary lifestyles that channels the public

perceptions on sustaining batik industry for community and economy.

ABSTRACT

Batik in Malaysia is a very popular textile, especially in Malaysia's east coast, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. Motif design in batik will result in different identities between Malaysian batik and Indonesian batik. The most popular motifs in Malaysian batik are leaves and flowers. Malaysian Batik is also famous for its geometric design, such as spiral. However, some inspiration is always needed to design Malaysian batik. Therefore, this project is intended to improve and provide a great inspiration to Malaysian batik design by using a mathematical geometry with the help of computer software and graphics. Mathematics and art have been linked long ago, known as fractals. Koch snowflakes is mathematics curve and one of the earliest fractals. Koch snowflakes can be used to design a motif for Malaysian batik because it can produce very beautiful geometry and it never been explored before in this area. The impact of this product to the society is to expose the useful of mathematics in design. Furthermore this products can be commercialized as Malaysian Batik by provide some Malaysian Identities together with the fractals.

ABSTRACT

Hand hygiene is foremost techniques in preventing the spread of any health care-associated infections and keeping the health cost under control. Hand sanitizer is the key for hand hygiene when limited resources and water access. The problem is alcohol-based hand sanitizer can cause health issues such as drying skin and alcoholic poisoning. Therefore, alcohol-free hand sanitizer becomes the next approach. Investigations on hand sanitizer without alcohol for their effectiveness on microorganism’s infection are still scarce. Hence, the main objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of alcohol-free hand sanitizer on microbial hands carriage. The main focus is on inhibiting the growth of pure cultured bacteria from hands which were Streptococcus sp. and Staphylococcus sp. Production of alcohol-free hand sanitizer using natural products (virgin coconut oil and mulberry leaves extract) as antibacterial agents as an alternative to the current hand sanitizers in market. In the study, the antibacterial activity of alcohol-free hand sanitizer was compared with clinical hand sanitizer, commercial hand sanitizer and sterile water using disc diffusion method. Undoubtedly, clinical hand sanitizer showed the highest inhibition zone with 21 mm for both types of bacteria. On the other hand, alcohol-free hand sanitizer and commercial hand sanitizer surprisingly obtained almost similar size of inhibition zone with 14-14.5 mm. As conclusion, the alcohol-free hand sanitizer was effective in resisting the bacterial growth on hands and as promising option particularly in health impacts after use. The tested product can be introduced to selected market segments for example local pharmacies, clinics and hospitals.

ABSTRACT

The conventional teaching and learning process involves delivery, evaluation and implementation of knowledge. This process is associated to the transfer of knowledge and skills through face-to-face (F2F) contact between tutor/ lecturer and student. Thus, the presence of lecturer in the class is compulsory during assessments such as practical tests. The AP_Lab system has been developed based on two objectives, to improve laboratory (i) practical tests and (ii) practical activity assessments for Civil Engineering Diploma students. This new approach provides a broad assessment access for lecturer digitally. The AP_Lab system allows:- (i) the enhancement of practical (psychomotor) and affective skills assessment, fulfilling the outcome based education (OBE) standard; (ii) the observation of laboratory activities (affective) of the students during practical sessions efficiently; (iii) the improvement of digital student record using QR code; and (iv) a consistent evaluation of students. This system is simple, flexible and user friendly. The overall assessment can be done accurately and efficiently using AP_Lab system. This system is an evolution of laboratory practical assessment towards Industrial Revolution 4.0 and has potential to be commercialised in any field that involves practical assessment.

ABSTRACT

Coloured effluents from industries such as textile, leather, cosmetics, food, pharmaceutical, paper and plastic were discharged in large amount to a precious water resource. These were caused water pollution and make it aesthetically unpleasant. Due to its complex chemical structure, dye is one of the most difficult constituents to treat with municipal waste treatment operations. For this, appropriate treatment technologies are required. The treatment of recalcitrant and toxic dyes with traditional technologies is not always effective or may not be environmentally friendly. Our research objective was to produce a Morinda citrifolia (M.C) AgNPs which can be utilized for dye removal effectively. This product was synthesized by using green method and contained nano-M.C–AgNPs composite material. From UV-Visible spectrophotometer analysis, the absorption peak of M.C AgNps is in range of 415-430 nm. The degradation of methylene blue was achieved 96.3 % in 15 minutes. Greener synthesis of nanoparticles that was applied in this research provides advancement over other methods as they are simple, one step, cost-effective, environment friendly and relatively reproducible and often results in more stable materials. Other than as catalysis in wastewater treatment; M.C AgNPs can be applied in the fields of high sensitivity biomolecular detection, diagnostics, antimicrobials, therapeutics and micro-electronics.

ABSTRACT

Bank efficiency is very important in banking industry. There are many methods involved to measure the efficiency of bank performance. This paper focuses on Slack Based Measure (SBM) and Charnes, Chooper and Rhodes (CCR) model by comparing the result of efficiency. SBM gives the input excesses and output shortfalls for decision many unit (DMU) concerned. Meanwhile the CCR was interpret as a reduction of the multiple output or multiple input situation for each DMU to a single “virtual” output and “virtual input”. Furthermore, the result from this research states using SBM model give a value of input excesses and output shortfalls for each bank inefficient. The result also indicates that SBM score efficiency for bank inefficient are less than CCR score efficiency.

ABSTRACT

Conjoint analysis is an experimental approach used for measuring customer preferences regarding the attributes of a product or a service. However, human preference is vague, uncertain and subjective in nature. Thus, the fuzzy set theory provides an excellent framework for describing the preferences. (1) Problem Statement: Due to the subjective and imprecise meaning of preferences, fuzzy set theory was combined with conjoint analysis and has been employed in many areas which involve the use of the Likert scale to represent the linguistic term. The fuzzification of the Likert scale can represent the vagueness content on human judgement. Nevertheless, the present fuzzy conjoint analysis was developed based on discrete fuzzy sets, whereby the weight of attribute cannot be obtained at different degree of confidence. (2) Objective: This study develops a fuzzy preference system based on triangular fuzzy numbers conjoint method for analysing human preference. (3) Novelty: The triangular fuzzy numbers conjoint method can preserve detail information on the preferences. The analysis can provide additional information on the level of consensus on the issue investigated. (4) Usefulness: The developed system provides automatic data analysis with ranking on the attributes and level of consensus of the attributes which can ease researchers in getting a fast and meaningful result. (5) Commercialisation Potential: This fuzzy preference system can be benefited to all decision-makers, researchers and individuals working in any areas in a fuzzy environment.

ABSTRACT

Recently, many lecturers in university assign a project for a specific subject whether individual or group of students. The students need to complete and submit several tasks in a project based on a date given by the lecturers. However, there is a situation that the students submit their tasks at lecturers’ room without meeting directly to their lecturers. They need to ask their lecturers to know the status of their submission such as accepted or require for resubmission. This situation may produce problems to both students and lecturers in handling project progress. One of the solutions to simplify project monitoring is by developing a system that can monitor student project progress. Thus, we design and develop a student project monitoring system using face detection to recognize a group member for each student project. The uniqueness of the proposed system is it integrates face detection algorithm into student project monitoring system. At the same time, the proposed system has advantage to simplify student project monitoring process rather than manual process especially during project registration. It also can be accessed online through any web browser. As a result, the proposed work is capable to monitor student project effectively for students and lecturers. The proposed work can be implemented in relevant industry such as in monitoring the worker’s task.

ABSTRACT

SECI-SYS is a system software developed as a platform to store, retrieve, and update data regarding information management. Secretariat, in this regards acts as the people responsible for maintaining effective records and file administration. In conjunction with 2nd Kelantan International Learning and Innovation Exhibition 2019 (KILIEx 2019), SECI-SYS is established to ensure the management of data is consistently organized and remained to be easily accessible by the end users. SECI-SYS is governed by the information processing cycle which consists of four major stages; input, processing, storage and output. In brief, the procedures include data entry (input stage) followed by data coding and updating (processing stage), data keeping (storage stage) and finally producing desired data for respective users (output stage). Due to the varying needs from multiple angles, SECI-SYS plays a pivotal role as the core data feeder to enable the committees to access the information. In the absence of SECI-SYS, missing of files, overlapping of information, and miscommunication as a whole, shall be expected to occur. Consequently, database management system for KILIEx 2019 will be dysfunctional thus, disrupt the flow of the event. With this SECI-SYS, the management of database will be made convenient due to its multiple access, user-friendly, cloud storage function and zero charge for its development. ABSTRACT

The problem of the unsteady stagnation point flow and viscous dissipation over a

slippery stretching/shrinking pipe is studied. Uneven heating melt temperature may

also distort the velocity profile and fluid flow. Viscous heating is crucial to be

analyzed in order to sustain the problem. In this study, the governing equations with

corresponding boundary conditions are used to simulate this problem using a bvp4c

in MATLAB. The effects of viscous dissipation and curvature on a slippery pipe are

analyzed. The results are shown in the velocity and temperature profiles as well as

the skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number which are significantly dependent on

these pertinent parameters.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this project is to develop University Key Performance Indicator

(KPI) management model for Strategic Planning Unit (UPS), UiTM Kelantan. The

project also aims to examine the effectiveness of the KPI management model

among users. A total of 40 samples from project executors, and performance

indicators (PI) keepers, UiTM Cawangan Kelantan were selected as sample. The

KPI management model was successfully developed and named as ‘e-KPIus’. The ‘e-KPIus’ is more systematic in data collection, effective supervision of the

progress status by top management and as an information sharing platform. This

‘e-KPIus’ gives significant and valuable contributions to UPS practice in the area

of quality improvement in the context of UPS data management. The findings

also reveals that the outcome in term of time, manpower and cost saving

improved when UPS integrated the ‘e-KPIus’ approach in data management. The

implication of this project suggested that the ‘e-KPIus’ can be used to enhance

the quality of data management process in UPS or others departments

simultaneously increase the quality management performance.

ABSTRACT

All students pursuing studies at the university hope to complete their studies within the given time. This tool was created to help head of programme and student advisors to plan a course of study throughout the semester. Additionally, students also benefit from this software. They can set the credit hours targets that need to be taken for each semester to ensure that they can graduate on time. This tool is developed using Excel. Moreover, this tool is helpful for students who have to take again the fail subject. For newly enrolled students, the Head of Programme will include a list of the students along with the subjects who have received exemption during the Diploma level. This course helps lecturers know which subject to be taken for each semester based on the maximum credit hours. If it exceeds the maximum credit hours, they will know which subject should be dropped for this semester and which subject should be taken for the next semester. Academic advisors play a role in advising students to choose the appropriate subject. This tool has the capability to list the subjects and credit hours for all semester. Hence, this easy and user-friendly “Sub-Reg” tool was built to help students, academic advisor and head of programme to make decision making for subject registration.

ABSTRACT

Alumni Management System (AMS) is being developed to be used as a platform for the graduates to channel their personal information soon after they complete their studies. The main objective of AMS is to maintain a smart and long-lasting relationship among the graduates themselves and between them and the university. Both parties may benefit from the simplicity and easiness of the web-based system which can be accessed from anywhere and anytime. Besides enabling graduates to provide and update their personal information, AMS also acts as a one stop centre which enables all users to post and receive latest news and events that have been or will be organized by either the university or the alumni. University’s management is also able to access the alumni data either about their previous details of study or their current and updated work data. This information may be used by the university for any purpose such as the university’s strategic planning. AMS will help the university to keep track of all its alumni and this can facilitate both parties to collaborate, cooperate and co-organize whatever future activities that will benefit not just the university and alumni but also the community. Such collaboration will bring positive impact to the society in general. AMS also has a great possibility to be commercialized.

ABSTRACT This research project is conducted to produce a dry cell that uses natural ingredients without polluting nature, renewable and reduces pollution cases that are often a hot issue among the people. At the same time, it creates a new, more energetic and environmentally friendly innovation. The materials used are all from natural plants that are easily available and selected based on the methods of trying to find alternatives to replace existing products to be more environmentally friendly, productive and have high commercial value. We examine the natural ingredients that are suitable for replacing the chemicals found in existing dry cells. we convert trees such as Rambutan trees, Rhu trees, Mangosteen trees which will be used in dry cells of this creation by looking at some changes in the carbon utilization ratio and the preparation method are different to obtain a higher voltage and current value which can be used to turn low power electronic equipment. Rambutan has been selected because it produces highest voltage value among others and it can produce a voltage about 1.5 V.

ABSTRACT

The continuous depletion of fossil oil leads to the increasing price of such oil, which

contributes to the increasing price of polymer raw materials A low cost, abundant,

and renewable vegetable oil source is now receiving increasing attention to be

chemically modified to polyol, and thence become an alternative replacement for the

petroleumbased polyol in coating. In this study, renewable Jatropha oil-based

coating was presented and named “BIO-OPV” which use for over printed varnish in

paper coating. Jatropha oil was being used as it was an environmental friendly and

non-edible oil. The objectives of this study was to prepare and evaluate arcrylated

epoxidied jatropha oil (AEJO) surface coating properties using physico-chemichal

test. This product was made by synthesized of AEJO and formulate with TMPTA ,

HDDA and Darocur. After formulated, sample was cure by UV machines which used

to cure the formulation that was swept over the paper. The result show that there are

three functional group that was found in FTIR result while the contact angle prove

that this product is hydrophobic and pull off adhesion is to prove the performances

of the product. This product also very glossy and shiny on the surface. It also

produce a new alternative for coating material which does not have volatile solvent

or harmful material.

ABSTRACT

Corns are widely consume in Malaysia. They are cooked and processed into a

variety of foods such as corn porridge, jams, popcorn and also biscuit. As the

amount of product produced using corns increased due to technology advancement,

corn waste produced by the food industry also increases. It has become a problem

that needs to be solved because of the increasing amount of pollution. In addition,

they are many corncobs that are underutilized and has not been used to its

maximum potential. Corncob is frequently used as fertilizer and food for animals. We

have successfully produce corn powder from the corncob which can be further

processed or develop into biscuits and other food products. Furthermore, we have

manage to process a whole corn while producing only small amount of waste (corn

silk) where we use the kernel to make jams for the fillings in the biscuit and the

corncob as biscuit. Our methodology are simple as you can do it at home by

yourself. In order to make a biscuit, we must first turn the corncob into the powder.

Firstly, the corncob must be free from kernel. It is then cut it into small pieces and

heated at 70°C for 4 hours. The dried corncob is them blend and filtered until it

become a fine powder. Other than producing biscuit, it might also be feasible to

produce noodle using the corncob powder. However, the biscuit recipe is one of the

simplest way of using corncob and it was made by ourselves.

ABSTRACT

In line with Malaysia’s aspiration to propagate green materials and biodiversity in the

environment, alternative materials that have huge potential for commercialization are

developed. Based on the idea to reduce the percentage of petroleum-based plastic

produced and environmental pollution, fruit waste has been incorporating into bio-

degradable plastic known as polycaprolactone (PCL). This project aims to determine

the suitable fruit waste including langsat, watermelon, banana, mango, orange, corn

cob, and corn leaf as reinforcing fillers in PCL based on their tensile and oil

absorption properties. Prior to testing, the fruit wastes were ground into powder and

sieved. The PCL was melted at 80°C and mixed with each of the fruit waste at a

designated weight ratio of 1:3. Samples were hot pressed and cut before being

tested for tensile and oil absorption tests. Results for each fruit waste-PCL

composites were compared and evaluated. Based on the results, it was found that

incorporating orange peel into PCL resulted in high tensile strength and modulus.

Meanwhile, banana skin showed a higherpercentage of oil absorbed as compared to

others. From the result, it showed that fruit waste-based PCL plastic composite has

the potential to substitute petroleum-based plastic for a wide range of applications.

ABSTRACT This study presents the preparation of nano hydroxyapatite (HAp) from bio-waste fish scales using alkaline digestion method in a low cost and easy of preparation. Hydroxyapatite (HAp) with a formula molecule Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 has been acknowledged as a bone graft material due to its similarities with the mineral fraction of natural bone and teeth. It is the major bioactive component of bone, stimulates osteoconduction and high biocompatibility with living tissue. HAp has great interest as a biomaterial for bone repair, dental implant and recently has been recognized as a sorbent in the purification of wastewater. This study illustrates preparation and processing parameter of HAp from different biowaste such as fish scale. Fish waste especially fish scale creating a detrimental to environment since it being dumped in open atmosphere particularly in coastal areas Hence, fish waste management facing a big problem in disposal of these wastes. Extraction of HAp from fish scale not only increases the potential biomedical applications but also reduces the environmental pollution and have a potential to be used as a calcium source for food supplement. HYDROSTATIC FORCE AS THE NEW ALTERNATIVE WAY TO

WORK THE FLOOD WALL IN INSTANT

ABSTRACT

The enhancement of knowledge in the discipline hydrology in civil engineering has

quickly turned into an appealing exploration in these couple of years essentially due

to the natural disasters related to water. It is rare to have a built up ideas and edifice to ensure an area that has the possibility for it to get damaged or crashed by one of

the greatest natural disasters; flood. As to overcome this phenomenon effects which

pose tremendous danger to both people and property, solution and idea has came

out from this issue that gain the possibility of being excelled in the engineering world

which is “the flood wall”. Even though some improvements are obtained , built up

flood wall have lots of flaws regardless of the expensive cost of materials, the difficult process in building the wall, the non durable structure and its usage which can only

be used once. This project is about to create another flood barrier on empha the

divergence by applying one of the physics concept which is the hydrostatic force.

The rational of the concept in this project which uses high pressure of water to push

up the walls in instant is to fabricate a lab scale model that can stimulate the instant

flood wall system besides of to test the performance of the instant flood wall. To illustrate, when the water in any source like river rises up to the danger level, the

excess water will be channelled by the underground flowing tubes. Then, the water

will fill the empty space under the wall to make the wall rises up according to the hydrostatic force exerted. This project is to prove the hypothesis which is the higher

the flood level, the higher the hydrostatic force exerted and the higher the level of the

instant flood wall. To sum up, this project was successfully done when it finally operates instantly due to the force of the water itself under the float of the wall. In addition, the simple design of the lab scale instant flood wall model has really proved

its effectiveness and the most important success is the lab scale model of the wall

which has performed excellently with a smooth movement of rising up that can give a

new breath in the engineering world.

ABSTRACT

Large quantities of kitchen waste are produced in modern society and its disposal

poses serious environmental and social problems. Garbage enzymes, a fermentation

product of kitchen waste, water and brown sugar is claimed in the media as a

multipurpose solution for household, wastewater treatment and agricultural uses. In

this study, “KitchZymes” which derived from fermentation of orange and lemon peels,

brown sugar and water was investigate to purify pond, as a household products and

to promote plant growth. The characteristics of KitchZymes produced was also

investigated. The pH of the KitchZymes was found to be 3.26 and 3.28 for orange

and lemon peel respectively with 4.40 mg/ml of citric acid. The orange and lemon

garbage enzyme showed a reduction % of total soluble solid (TSS) of nearly 4–5%

for treatment in 1 to 16 hours for purifying lake pond. Test on two same types of

plants for a month also shows that the KitchZymes promotes the plants growth. The

sprayed plant has a thicker stem and more leaves compared to the not sprayed one.

Mixture of KitchZymes with the household products, such as detergent, hand wash

and shampoo at ratio of 1:1:10 can reduced the use of chemicals in daily life. This

result showed that a KitchZymes solution able to purify water (surface and

underground), saves money and act as natural antiseptic that reduces demand for

chemical pesticide.

ABSTRACT

pH scale was developed for convenience in determining the acidic or alkali strength

of a solution. In health, the human body has a natural pH of 7.4 and body pH

imbalance e.g. too acidic can lead to a variety of health ailments, including

cardiovascular disease, complications of diabetes and bone fragility. Subsequently

,this is one of the important reasons to teach pH in schools – for our young

generations to appreciate health and the quality of our drinking water and foods. In

the school laboratory or elsewhere,pH paper and chemicals are commonly used to

teach and indicate pH, respectively. However ,there is another cheap method to do

so. Plants especially those that can be found in dark red to purple color usually are

rich with pH sensitive component known as anthocyanins. Owing to this unique

property of anthocyanins, plants grow in acidic soils usually have more reddish

colored parts (leave or fruit), in neutral soils they will grow more purple, while an

alkaline soil will produce rater greenish -yellow colored. Interestingly, juice from

anthocyanins – rich – plants can be used as a simple pH indicator! In this study, the

juice from the anthocyanins - rich red cabbage or its scientific name Brassica

oleracia .L. var. capitata L. was used. Accordingly ,the juice from locally cultivated

red cabbage was prepared freshly, and filter papers were socked in the juice. Once

dried, the ability of the paper to change color in the presence of acid or base was

compared with litmus test/paper and confirmed with the pH meter. Duration of

changes and consistency of changes between the fresh juice, overnight juice with

litmus test/paper were observed. This study is hoped to enable the teaching of pH in

low – resource setting schools in Malaysia in support of designing younger

generations who appreciate good quality of water and food for healthy and strong

citizens of future.

ABSTRACT

The food containers that have been used especially polystyrene-based are usually disposed and burned without proper waste management. This disposal waste may pollute the environment when this materials are burned and dispose in the river. In order to reduce this problem, we are trying to convert this materials into useful product which is Styrene-glue. By recycling polystyrene based waste and converting it into useful product we could cut the cost of the waste disposal management and also one of the counter measures to curb environmental pollution. Polystyrene based food container are cleaned and cut into smaller size. Then, a required mass of the polystyrene are weighed. We have tried for several ratios between the mass of polystyrene and the volume of solvent (diethy-ether) used. From the investigation, we found that the ratio of 22.18g of polystyrene mass and 130 ml volume of the solvent producing the best result in term of the consistency of the adhesive produced. Two identical wooden block with the same total surface area are joined together with styrene-glue and the force is applied to break the glue joint. After that, the strength and durability of the styrene-glue is tested by using a different mass of weight. The result shown that, the joined wooden blocks are still in good shape and did not break. From this data, we can conclude that, the styrene-glue produced is able to act as good adhesive agent. For further investigation we may use the styrene-glue as an adhesive agent for a different surface such as metal and wood. Other than that, styrene-glue also can be apply to the furniture in order to strengthen the structure. Keywords: Polystyrene, Styrene-Glue.
