2012 Post Show Report Challenges in deepwater production are complex and command our attention to develop solutions that
are economical and long-term. The Deepwater Operations Conference and Exhibition provides a
unique experience for attendees and exhibitors to share, learn and connect in a forum dedicated to
addressing these challenges.
In 2012, the Deepwater Operations Conference & Exhibition celebrated its 10th anniversary. Held in
Galveston, Texas at the Moody Gardens Hotel & Convention Center, the event attracted a record
number of 1,092 attendees. Seventy-seven exhibitors displayed their products and services on the
exhibit hall floor. The conference theme was “A Decade of Lessons Learned, Preparing for New
Challenges.” Over two days of sessions, speakers shared best practices, how they approach risk and
how they manage new challenges. The exhibit hall floor showcased new equipment, technology and
services vital to the deepwater operations industry.

Opening Plenary Session The Opening Plenary Session was held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. in the Moody Gardens Convention Center, Hall A. All registered attendees were invited to attend. Mark Peters, PennWell Conference Management, kicked off the season with a welcome and introductions. Chairman of the Board, Jon Unwin, Shell, gave the Chairman’s Opening Remarks and introduced the keynote speaker. The keynote presentation was given by Christina Sistrunk, Vice President – Producing Assets, Deep Water GoM Shell Energy Resources Company Three Decades of Deep Water: New Challenges, New Opportunities
Christina Sistrunk is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. She joined Shell in 1998 after working for the Amoco Production Company where she had worked in a variety of engineering and Operations Management roles all focused on Gulf of Mexico production and development. Since joining Shell, Christina has worked in the Deepwater Engineering projects organization, as Operations Manager, Operations Skill Pool Manager, HSSE Manager – Americas Region, and Gulf of Mexico East Asset Manager. Christina’s last posting was in the Netherlands as the Asset Integrity Program Manager, which she began at the start of 2008. This role required leading a global effort to improve process safety across Shell’s upstream business.

Allen received his BS in Civil Engineering at the USL in 1970.
