Warren Sargent makes l)is debut in Senior ranks with South today. W·arren with a little more experience should be hard to displace.

Playing his first Senior ,game Kurri Junio-r Alan Hargravea was outstanding against Cessnock last Saturday. Good · 1uck Alan for your future career.

· \Vinning number of North's competition last week was 8686.

South consider they are fortunate in having . the e,xcellent service of

, trainer Joe Rt1ggero. Joe considers no job is too much trouble to receive his expert knowledge.

Pleasing to see Ken McC'affrey . return to the game last Saturday. Ken showed he has not lost any of his early form.

It ·is pleasing to see Fred Ogden once again turning out for C'essnock in the third grade side .

A welcome return to the Cessnock third grade side last Saturday was Colin Halversen. Colin turned in a ve,ry good game, which won him pro- · motion to the reserve grade side today.

West 1st and Reserve grade playem are very grateful for· the donation of 'refresl;n-p_ents' last Saturday from Jack Kempnicq and Keri Hill.

Coming in as a last minute substitute, Waratah half back · Ron Sheedy, played a whale of a game against Lakes last week. This player has been on the border of selection for quite a while and his great display has earned him a ·place in the first grade side again this week.

West lucky number competition was won by popular 'Vice-President of the Newcastle· Rugby· League Mr.

'W. Power of Charlestown, the number.was 4·756.

Be·st wishe . and congratulations were showered upon. popular Kurri player Arthur Murray when he was wed last Saturday to Miss Magella Tanner of Aberdeen. Also wed tllis season among· the Kurri players· were Brian Stanbridge to Miss Margaret Hughes and John Gemmell to Miss Colleen Ridley. Congratulations all.

Waratah extends · its congratulations to Lakes · full back RussellNaughton on his great goal kicking .effort last week. Our p,opular president Bill Godden declared it was the best effort he has seen since, Kurri forward Arthur Bevan kicked ten against us a coupe -9f years ago.

Maurice Webb'er of Norths thil'.:d ,grade is continuing t9 play consiste#t' football and his effort:s :we,re rewarded with a nice. try last week.

Promising. ·West·· fl.ye e:ghth. Ivan Leggett will. not be p'lay;·1g aga!1} this season. He · had his :.i.ppendixtaken out on. Tues<iay.. All players and officials ;Vish him · a speedy recovery.

Making his first appearance thjs season in reserve grade last ·-·week was Joe Irwin, No.vth's good centre. 'Joe should prove a tower of strength to the blues.
