ASU is measured not by whom it excludes, but by whom it includes and how they succeed.– Excerpt from ASU’s Charter

We know family is important to your university experience. Watch this video about welcoming new families to ASU.

Culture@ASUThe ASU community is rich in many cultural, social and global traditions. Through Culture@ASU events and programming, students have many opportunities to engage with their peers in a globally aware context. Culture@ASU promotes identity, inclusion and expression to build a strong Sun Devil community reflective of ASU’s charter. Students lead the initiative, collaborating to build intersectional programs that celebrate cultural identities, foster a sense of belonging on campus and help expand the cultural awareness of all Sun Devils. Follow Culture@ASU on social media to learn about heritage celebrations, civility on campus and many cultural events. asu.edu/culture

Barrett, The Honors College is designed to enhance the ASU undergraduate experience. Think of it as having dual citizenship in both Barrett and ASU. Barrett students have access to the vast resources of ASU while being part of a small living-learning community of scholars. “I chose Arizona because of the weather, but when I came here and studied, I loved it. People would not believe me when I say I have friends from all over the world. I have friends from Japan, Korea, Brazil, even Mexico — if you have friends from different cultures and different backgrounds, you can learn a lot.”

Abdulraham A. Kuwait English (linguistics)

“ASU has been a very welcoming place. The people, culture and environment are very inclusive. It is easy to find help and resources for anything, it is easy to relax and have fun, and most importantly, it is not hard at all to succeed personally, academically and professionally, thanks to the warm, supportive atmosphere at ASU.”

Wina K. Indonesia Mathematics and statistics

Recent ASU and Mastercard Foundation Scholar alumna Ntombizodwa M. from Harare, Zimbabwe won a full scholarship to study at Cambridge University in England to pursue her MD-PhD. While at ASU, she worked on cervical cancer detection and cofounded a project called Female Dreamers that aims to empower girls and women to be economically independent. It won several awards, including the Millennium Fellowship with the United Nations, the Changemaker Award at ASU, Venture Devils funding, and the Pitchfork Award for Global Change and Global Impact Project, which was presented at the Clinton Global Initiative.

HousingWelcome to your new homeAt ASU, first-year students, also known as freshmen, live in a residence hall on the campus of their major. ASU’s housing options come with many benefits, including:

• Nearby access to classes, professors, libraries and tutoring services.

• Nearby access to the fitness complex and dining halls.

• Furnished rooms with Wi-Fi and cable, and nearby laundry facilities.

• Common recreation and study areas, and community kitchens.

• Special programming and events for residence hall community members.

Live with your classmatesIf you are a first-year student, you will live in a residential college on the same floor as others in your academic program, meaning that from the start of your college experience, you’ll have built-in study partners and friends.

Fact: On average, students who live on campus do better academically and are more likely to graduate than students who live off campus. asu.edu/livingoncampus

Note: Housing for upper-division and graduate students is not based on academic programs, and is limited on each campus and not guaranteed. asu.edu/offcampus

Wellness and safetyASU makes your wellness a priorityTo succeed in college, you need a safe and healthy environment, and that’s just what ASU offers. We provide an abundance of wellness resources to keep you feeling good and thriving, as well as a secure campus environment that enables you to focus on having a successful college experience.

ASU Health ServicesWhat do you do if you get sick while at ASU? You go to ASU Health Services. This full-service care clinic offers lots of health services including primary care, immunizations, acupuncture, allergy shots, women’s health services and more. And if you have specific cultural needs when visiting a doctor, just let ASU Health Services know and they will do all they can to accommodate. And remember, as an international student, you’ll need to have health insurance. ASU offers a group health insurance plan for students. Learn more about the Student Health Insurance Plan at eoss.asu.edu/health/resources/coverage.

“I lived on campus for four years. I really enjoyed it. First, the convenience — all of your friends are living in the same area as you. And I’ve made friends by living in the dorms. We study together and go to the dining hall together. I still have friends that I came in contact with my first year.”

Rosa S. China Computer information systems and accounting

ASU offers a state-of-the-art fitness complex on each campus where you can go before or after your classes for a workout. You get automatic membership to the fitness complex when you enroll at ASU. And if you ever have trouble adjusting to your new college or country, ASU Counseling Services provides professional counseling help, as well as free 24-hour crisis counseling. eoss.asu.edu/counseling

Indicates an accelerated 4+1 degree program. ASU offers a streamlined path to a master’s degree from ASU undergraduate programs, reducing the time it takes to get a master’s degree from two years to one year.

Indicates a concurrent degree program. ASU offers high-achieving graduate students the opportunity to complete two distinct but complementary graduate degrees at the same time.

A two-year program is for applicants who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree in the same discipline as the graduate program. A 3+ program is for applicants with an undergraduate degree in a discipline different than the graduate program.
