GROWING STRONGER TOGETHER Fall/Winter 2012-2013Program Guide MASON CITY FAMILY YMCA
Soon, the kids will be headed off to school and college.
And, your YMCA is gearing up for an exciting Fall and
Winter!
I am pleased to tell you that the Brian Crane Family
Healthy Living Center has been received well by our
members and is experiencing more usage as well as
great programs for adults. See a special section of
this program guide for details on hours and classes at
the Healthy Living Center.
New this fall (beginning October 1) will be the
Achiever’s Program for boys and girls in 7th and 8th
grades. This program focuses on utilizing technology
by using computers to build leadership skills.
I want to congratulate the residents of Mason City for
being selected as a Blue Zones site. Watch for more
information as Blue Zones opportunities develop.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who contributed to
our Partner of Youth campaign and remind you that
your YMCA accepts contributions all year long!

and breath control. Activities are based on the
developmental abilities of the child. Classes held in
the warm-water therapy pool.
3-5 Aqua Shrimps - Ages 3 yrs - 5 yrs.
This is a parent/child class which helps
acquaint very young children with the joys
of water. As the class progresses, the
instructor slowly begins working more
individually with children on skills to help
ready them for preschool classes without
parents.
Select a swimming class that
fits your child’s skill level.
PRIMARY LESSONS (6 mos. - 5 yrs.)

work to perfect the front crawl,
elementary backstroke, back crawl,
breaststroke kick and butterfly kick.

pool behavior, adjust to the water, and
develop independent movement through
stroke and kicking skills and becoming
