L'existence d'un lien entre les Ta' l iqat1 d'al-Farabi et celles i d'Avicenne

a deja ete rernarquec par divers savants 3. Neanmoins, que nous sachions, cette

relation n'a pas encore etc precisee. En fait, il apparait que la totalite des Closes

du Deuxierne Maitre se retrouvent eparpillees dans l' ouvrage homonyme

d' Avicenne. Notre propos, dans la premiere partie de cet article, est de fournir

une table detaillee des references des divers passages communs au K. al- To'liqiu

du Shaykh al-Ra'is et aux Closes de son predecesseur ".

Ce rapprochement des deux textes dans leurs divers clements, pour qu' on

puisse juger d'une maniere perernptoire de l'authenticite des Closes du Deuxierne

Maitre, devrait etre approfondi et accornpagne d'une etude de la tradition

manuscrite des To'Ii qat deI'edition d'Hayderabad et des idees qui y sont deve-

lop pees 5. N' etant pas a merne, presentement, de mener a bien ces travaux,

nous n'apportons donc dans cet article aucune reponse a ce sujet.

Ce qui, par contre, apparait clairement au terrne d'une simple lecture com-

paree des deux recueils de Closes, c'est l'rmpossibilite de les aborder desorrnais

l'un sans l'autre, La version avicennienne apporte en effet de nombreuses cor-

rections au texte peu critique de l'edition d'Hayderabad des Closes d'al-Farabi.

Inversernent, ce dernier ouvrage fournit plusieurs variantes ou ameliorations

importances aux Ta' l fqat avicenniennes cditees par 'A. Badawi dans un travail

qui rr'a pas toujours la rigueur qu'on lui aurait souhaitee.

Dans une deuxierne partie de cet article, on trouvera une table indiquant,

d'apres l'edition Badawi des Ta']fqat du Shaykh al-Ra'is, les references des

passages de ce livre qu'Andrea Alpago ", au XVIe siecle, a traduits en latin

sous le titre de L iber Aphori smorum Avicenna d e A nim a ... 7 Certes. M. El-Khodeiri"

a deja donne des tables de correspondance des Aphorismes d' Alpagoet des

elements avicenniens, tara biens et "rnixtes" des Ta' Ifqat. Ces tables sont mal-

heureusement d'un emploi fort difficile du fait de leur imprecision. Elles se

referent en effet, pour les Ta' Ifqat tarabiennes, a des numeros de paragraphes

qui n'apparaissent pas dans l'edition d'Hayderabad. Pour celles d'Avicenne,

elles renvoient a la numerotation des paragraphes presence dans l'inventaire

manuscrit de Lawkari, inventaire que Badawi a oublie de reproduirc dans son

edition.

Comme, en realitc, tous les passages traduits par Alpago sont repris dans

I'edition Badawi des Closes avicenniennes, no us estimons plus simple de lcs

referer a ce seul ouvrage, en les situant d'apres la numerotation de ses pages et

de ses lignes 9 .

Autant on gagne a comparer les versions d'Hayderabad et de Badawi pour

approcher les gloses communes aux deux textes, autant il s'avere utile de prendre

en consideration le travail d' A. Alpago. En effet, I'erudit italien ne traduit pas

toujours un textc correspondant a celui de l'edition Badawi. II lui arrive de

proposer des lectures differences et, qui plus est, de citer des variantes de la lecture

qu'il retient. Par ailleurs, Alpago mele a sa traduction des paraphrases rerncdiant

souvent a la concision et au manque de clarte du textc arabe. 11ajcute, enfin,

un veritable commentaire philosophique a sa traduction de certains aphorismes.

En somme, l'cdition Badawi, la version d'Hayderab.id et la traduction latine

d' A. Alpago fournissent, a propos des Ta' Ifqat, trois ternoignages textucls

cornplementaircs. Nous osons espercr que les tables qui suivent permettront

aux chercheurs de les confronter plus aisernent.
