PS – A Word from Pastor Stan

SCHOOL’S IN SESSION! Those are the words we will be hearing all during August as

our various schools begin classes for this school year. For Kris and me, it means that two of our

grandchildren begin kindergarten. It means also that Sunday School classes begin again for all ages

from young to old. There will be some changes as we say farewell to Merikay Ringer, who has

taught the adult class for some time now. Her house has sold and she is moving to Overland Park,

Kansas to be near her children. So the adult class will be under new leadership.

Christian Education, as a whole, is under new leadership with Vickie Menn, returning as their

chair. We look forward to a creative and exciting year. I will begin teaching confirmation class on

Sunday mornings as well. The confirmands will be studying Luther’s Small Catechism and our Lu-

theran heritage.

In September, I will begin my Tuesday evening class. This time we will be studying “The

Greatest Story – Jesus”. It is a 16 session study of Jesus’ life and ministry as found in the Gospels.

The cost for student’s books will be $15.00 each. We will meet at 7:00 p.m. in the adult classroom to

study and discuss the life of Jesus. We will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd. Let me know you

want to be a part of this group by signing up on the sheet in the narthex, especially so we have plenty

of student’s books.

As you check out these opportunities for study, we are reminded that being a Christian and a

Lutheran is a lifelong learning endeavor. A child like faith and confirmation instruction are a good

beginning, but there is always more to lean about God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and how we

can live out our faith in all aspects of our life.

Come share your faith and hear about the faith of our Christians. Bring your questions and doubts, God is ready and willing to engage each of us where we are and help us to learn more and grow in our faith and discipleship.

THE GREATEST STORY – JESUS

This is the title of our adult Bible study beginning in September. We will look at the life, min-istry, and message of Jesus as found in the Gospels. We will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd, at 7:00 p.m. in the adult classroom. This is a sixteen session study. The student’s books will cost $15.00. There will be a signup sheet in the narthex soon. Please sign up so that we can be sure to or-der enough student’s books for everyone.

Christian Education & Youth

Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, Minot, ND…..we will be hosting one of the directors, Ann Compere, Saturday night and Sunday. She will give a little talk on the awesome work that the Ranch does for children who need help. We have collected over $200 for the Ranch during VBS and would love to

add to it during the next couple of weeks and present her a check from our church to help them out. So, located in the narthex will be a bright orange container with their logo on it, if you would like to drop in a few coins, or bills awesome. If you would like to write a check….great…..make it out to HTLC and earmark it for the Ranch we will see that they receive it. Thank you for helping us bless such a great cause.

Rally Day kicks off the new Sunday School year…so lets all

plan on being here!

Regular Sunday School classes start Sunday, August 18, 2019.

We will start off with the opening at 9:15 am in the Small Chapel and then go to the classrooms

located upstairs, so some changes are coming our way.

Remember, there is strength in numbers….the more kiddos we have in attendance, the more

enjoyable it is for the kids, and the more fun things we can plan. So get your little ones here to

Sunday School, so we can shower them with the love of our Lord and Savior!

We are glad to have on board this year: Dr. Dan for openings

Pastor for Confirmation Amy Pope and Melanie Cooper for 3rd – 5th grade

Nichole Offineer for Kindgtn – 2nd grade Ms. Kris Crawford and Vickie Menn as needed

As always, God’s peace be with you,

Vickie Menn

834-8383

If you would like to help out with the lock in, we could use your help by donating different items such as breakfast bars, some “snackie” type of foods , and some “Hug” drinks for evening time.

Saturday, August 10---Lock In starts @ 4 pm,

waterslide, games, pizza and an overnight camp out in

the fellowship hall.

Sunday, August 11---the children will be leading both

church services…..

So come and lets say Good bye to summer fun and hello to a new school year with the blessings of the

backpacks.

Guide visitors to the worship space and direct them to the restrooms, or other places as needed.

Be proactive, watching for anyone who seems lost or unsure where to go.

After worship, make an effort to reconnect with visitors.

Consider something like “It was nice to worship with you today” rather than, “Thank you for visiting us today,” as a way of including them as full participants in worship.

We a having a few visitors and return of former members so let’s make sure we are making them feel at home with us.

Stewardship

Stewardship – A responsive management of gifts God has placed in our hands. Several years ago, we began to reflect on many of the gifts received from God: a home without a mortgage,

grown children each working on their careers, good health, good friends, and the opportunity to worship and work in

this church. With more blessings than we could begin to count, we began to tithe.

Time passed as tithing continued (Simply Giving made it so easy). Disposable income increased enabling the

support of special church programs. Holy Trinity is blessed to have members willing to offer their time and talent with

children’s programs, maintenance of our building and grounds and to those less fortunate such as Hope House,

NWLA Food Bank, Holiday Food Baskets, to name a few.

Life has not been without pitfalls, but God is always there to pick us up and put us back on track. Overall we

have enjoyed a wonderful journey. We are all blessed to be a part of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

9:15 am

This is our last Summer Brunch for 2019! We have had some awesome foods this summer!

Please come and join us as we celebrate Rally Day and Back to School with more of that awesome Holy Trinity Brunch Food!

Please bring something to share:

Casserole or other Breakfast Main Dish, Fresh Fruit (Strawberries, Melon, Grapes, etc. or Fruit Salad), Breads (Sweet Rolls, Donuts, , Pas-tries, Muffins, etc.). Please bring your items plated and ready to serve.

We hope you will join us. These “Between Services” Brunches are also a great time for both services to get together and have a time of fellowship.

It’s also a great time to come and bring friends to church and show off Holy Trinity at its best. Fo-cus on bringing friends with children. Maybe they will bring their children back for Sunday School when they see what we have going on at Holy Trinity.
