What is Yahoo Desktop Search?

• Yahoo! Desktop Search is an indexing tool that enables you to find any of your files, emails, attachments, instant messages and contacts. Whether you're looking for something online or within your own personal stuff, Yahoo! Desktop Search helps you find it.

What is indexing?

• An index is a list of all the files on your computer. The list includes the location of your files and details about each file, such as file size. Changes you make to your files appear in the index through index updates.

Running Yahoo! desktop

1. Double Click the Icon on your desktop

2. Select from Start Menu

3. Run from System Tray

You may quickly search for any of the following files.

Email

Attachments

Contacts

Documents

Pictures

Located below is the search field.

Type in what you need and search

Results appear on the left

A preview pane is displayed on the right.

Above the preview pane you may:

When searching for documents Yahoo searches through both document names and document contents

Searched within document

Titled Document

You can also refine your document search by:

Document name

Document type

Date document createdDocument size

You may also scan through all indexed items by selecting the All tab

This will scan all Email’s, attachments, contacts, documents, and pictures located on the PC.
