What does your GSP
want from Santa?
Merry Christmas from all of the volunteers at SEGSP Rescue. We hope it’s full of joy and wonder!
Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

Our recent alumna Lily received her beautiful GSP doll to
commemorate her adoption! The Fedder family now has three
dog dolls to hang on their Christmas tree, Duke who passed away
last year, alumnus Buddy and now Lily. Thank you to our amazing
volunteer Catherine for her beautiful custom dolls.
Announcements
Everyone loves those
toddler years.
Happy National Sock Day! Any
other sock-snatchers out
there?! Looks like Nova has
had fun with these.
Stanley & Tanner are
celebrating National
Bathtub Party Day! Perfect
excuse to get your pups
extra clean today.
Recent alumnus Duke received his custom dog doll and it’s prominently placed on the mantle. His dog doll
was extra special since it commemorated his adoption but also winning the 2021 SEGSP calendar
contest. Calendars are now on sale at: https://www.segsprescue.org/2021-segsp-calendars.html
Sleep tight everyone!
What does your GSP do in the snow?
Ok, we want to hear all about your dog’s
Christmas faux pas. Did they “water” the
tree? Or perhaps a tail took out an
ornament or two? Or maybe they got into
their stocking early? Whatever it may be,
give us a giggle with your story below!
It’s been extra cold here
in the south... be careful
when going for walks!
Who else has the
Monday-after-
Christmas blues?

Fischer, foster brother to Rio, had a special Christmas wish. He wrote a letter to Santa asking for a
little brother. Santa talked it over with Rio’s foster parents, and then delivered this special present a
little bit early. Looks like Fischer is getting exactly what he wanted because Rio is staying for
good! And his new family, The Walls, couldn’t be happier!
Rio’s new dad says that Rio and Fischer were friends in just a few short hours which was HUGE to
them. Even though he’s still a puppy, he’s an old soul, super sweet, gentle, and has a tail wag for everyone he
meets. They knew within the first day that he was doomed to be a failed adoption! And there’s one more small
announcement, Rio will now be named Jasper, or Jazz, for short. Congratulations all around! We just love good news.
A very happy message from Dirk, now Tag’s family:
“It truly has been an honor to foster Tag and help him get healthy. Tag came into our home just three weeks after our
last GSP passed away. It was fast but it felt meant to be. Our family has fallen in love with Tag and we cannot
imagine our lives without him! He’s the sweetest, most loving dog we’ve ever had and we are ecstatic to become
Tag’s forever family.
We continue to be impressed by SEGSP Rescue. It’s such a great organization with passionate volunteers. We definitely will
continue to support this group and help however we can. Thank you! Merritt”
Congratulations Tag, Merritt and David!
Max has a forever home for the holidays! He's got a yard to play
in and a human brother who has very good manners with dogs and
we're sure he's going to be loved and spoiled! You can see he's
already making himself right at home :). Congrats to Max and the Roberto family!
Fritz in SC has found his forever home with the Fabrey family! His foster dad Darrin said, “It was so bittersweet
to watch him go but we know he is in good hands. He has grown so much while we fostered him and will continue to
grow. They will be keeping his name, they once had a Fritz before. We enjoyed the opportunity to help. Thank y’all for
helping along the way.
Thank you Darrin for everything you’ve done for Fritz, i.e. the river trips, golf cart rides and allowing him to run, run,
run - but most of all for finding his forever family. Fritz is a very lucky boy. Congrats to Fritz and the Fabrey family!
Dear Santa, Can we keep her?
The moment we laid eyes on her, she was a Stickles. Vivian, in TN, now Vivi Anne,
instantly became a member of our family from the first day we took her in as a
foster. She bonded closely with GSP siblings, Shep, and Delta, and soaked up all the love she could
from everyone else, all the while being such a trooper through her heartworm treatment, and spay
surgery. We are thrilled to add another stocking to the mantel this year! Vivi Girl, we love you and
promise to love you for forever.
Sweet Gunner from FL has finally found his forever home! YAY Gunner! This boy has had a tough
time adjusting to this very scary big world, but with the help of his foster family, he blossomed and
although still frightened of new things, he’s come a very long way. Congratulations to Gunner and the
Denise family and a big thank you to his foster mom Linda!

Max in GA (on right) had a proposition from his foster family. They said…we may not be able to give you the
biggest house, but we promise to love you the biggest and best we can. Max didn’t hesitate with his YES! His GSP
siblings are super happy too (although one was camera shy). Congratulations to the Futch family, including Max,
Mandy, Jake, Turkey, Pig and Trip!
Dixie, in SC, and her foster family have joined the “Foster Fail” club! From
her foster-turned-forever mom: She is such a sweet girl. She gets along so well
with Boo (16 year old GSP) & Lilly (6 year old Shitzu). They really are quite a
crew.
Congratulations to Dixie and the Buckendahl family! What a great way to begin the week and end the year
Congratulations on choosing your new
family member! We hope you are able to
enjoy having your dog for many years to
come, and we’ve put together some
suggestions to make your transition easier
and successful.
Your new dog should be treated as if he were a brand new puppy, even
though his/her size is that of an adult. Most rescue dogs have not been
someone’s house pet and don’t have the training and social skills to be
an “instant success” in a new home. Even though foster care givers
spend time and do some training, the transition to yet another new
environment is going to be stressful for a dog who’s already lost his
home at least twice. For more helpful information, visit the SE GSP site. https://www.segsprescue.org/adoption-advice.html

Some photos speak volumes. We saw this photo of our 2010 alumna Penny in her new bed and knew beyond a
shadow of a doubt that Penny is living a life of luxury and love. Thank you to her mom Beth for this great photo!
Guess who??!! It’s Alum Bo Elvis (formerly Tyler)! 2020 has been the BEST YEAR
EVER for me! It started out pretty crappy ya know. I was a hot mess before SEGSP found
me. First, they rescued me from a shelter in NC, then they found me a foster family to get me healthy, and
THEN, the most awesome thing happened … . Nicole asked me to be a part of her family!! This week I’ve had
all sorts of new adventures: Road trip with the WHOLE family. I did awesome and shared my truck bed with my little brother
Arnold, chilled out with Maycie, and played in the snow!!!! Guess what else??!! I’m learning to be off leash sometimes (only
when it’s safe though). This is the best Christmas ever!! I can’t wait for 2021.

Alumni Updates
Our 2019 alumna Brittany (who came with her six puppies when she entered rescue), has lots of
new things to smell and counters to try out in her new home her family moved to recently. She has
determined that the counter has the best view to either watch her family come home or watch them
leave. Something tells us it’s also a great squirrel watching spot.
Our 2019 alum Ellie obliged her mom and posed by the Christmas tree, then enjoyed her
reward. Ellie was found in the winter months of 2019, very thin and afraid but post-rescue, this
winter is very different! She now has a warm home, big treats, and lots of love (every dog’s
dream), thanks to her foster family and her forever family. Happy Holidays Ellie!
Our FL Alumnus Lefty has been to the vet, is on Apoquel, is now on a high-quality grain-free food and he still has
this itchy body. The recent trip to a cooler climate (and cushy sleeping conditions) didn’t improve his condition
either. Poor guy. Suggestions welcome.
Our 2018 Alum Tucker is doing amazingly well considering a new, unexpected
addition to the family, according to his mom Laura!! His grandparent’s doodle pretty
much lives with him now and boy does that seven month old love to play with her
Tucker!!
Our recent alumnus Blue (formerly Albert) wanted to show you how mistreated he is. Seems Blue has
adjusted quite well with his forever family.

Alumni Updates
2017 alumnus, Scout, and his Labrador sister,
Zoey, are cuddled up tonight in matching
pajamas to fight off the rare chilly air in Central
Florida. Show us your pups all bundled up!
Recent alumna Grace has a pretty good life … she goes to the dog park every morning (early so she doesn’t
mow people down), she chases squirrels, climbs trees, then goes for a long ride in her convertible (we’re pretty
sure it’s her mom’s car). Once she’s back home and her feet are cleaned (she’s a lady and doesn’t like being
dirty) and she eats breakfast, it’s time for a nap – pretty much all day (on a double dog bed too)! Yeah, we think
she has a really good life
2020 Alum Bodacious here (Or Bo Elvis as I’m known now – I used to be Tyler in rescue). Sorry I haven’t
updated you guys lately, but WHEW; I’ve been super busy training my mom and brother Arnold. Maycie is pretty
cool too, but well … she’s a girl so you know, I like to do guy things mostly.
So, I’m all settled in now and I LOVE my new family (and they LOVE me too!!). I get to spend my days chasing squirrels and
napping with Arnold. One day, there was a BIG storm. I faked being scared and jumped on the couch and cuddled so Mom
wouldn’t be scared. Anyway, here’s a pic of one of my favorite pastimes.
2020 Alum, Jax, wanted to make sure you knew how he was doing (which is awesome by the way!!!) and
wish all SEGSP supporters Happy Holidays!! He has been enjoying lots of running in the yard, weekly play
dates at doggie daycare (to keep up the socializing) and an early gift from Santa, a new Cozy Cave bed for
being such a good boy!! You can see how proud he is to be featured on the family Christmas Card this year,
now that he has a forever home.
2017 Alum Jake (formerly Felix) wishes everyone Happy Holidays! His dad Matt said, “He was clearly
enjoying being the center of attention for a photo shoot. He’s hilarious and so handsome all in one. Thank you
for all you do for our beloved GSPs.
Our recent alumnus Maverick (formerly Tony) was a bit confused when he saw our recent post on Instagram
stating that he was up for adoption. Since he's perfectly happy with his forever home. Somehow an old post was reposted
and we apologize for the confusion. Maverick/Tony is NOT looking for his forever home - he is already there! And
perhaps a little confused by the headgear (and our previous post), but we think it's adorable.
Christmas is less than a week away, let’s
start a thread of pups dressed up for the
occasion. Here is SEGSP Alum, Maple Ruth.
Now, your turn. Let’s see those fur babies!
Our alumna Amy is doing very well in her new forever home. She certainly isn’t lacking in toys or comfy places
to rest LOL!
2019 alumna Brittany’s mom Lara said,
“We would like to thank all of the foster parents eight year old grey Weimaraner unexpectedly to
a blood clot but we met Brittany through some friends. My husband fell in love right away but I wasn’t ready yet.
Soon our six year old blue Weimaraner began to morn over the loss of her partner Syrus. Athenia met Brittany and
it was a perfect fit. Thank you again for all the time and love you give these GSP.

Alumni Updates
Our little 2018 Alumna Sophie
wasn’t about to be left out of this
pile! Such a silly girl
#GSPsnuggles
2014 Alumna Miss Money Penny’s mom said in 2014:
“They will never sleep on the sofa.” Well, Penny wiggled
her way into their hearts and onto the sofa LOL! They
love her so much. Anyone else out there that has said
the same thing?
We have a twofer alumni update. Our 2017 alumnus Cooper (formally Horton) on the left and 2018
alumna Darling (aka Little Bit or Little Girl) and both are absolutely rotten according to their mom Jamy.
“Cooper, after going through heartworm treatment in rescue, is getting gray and older (the vet says he is
between 13-15) but is still very active (although slowing down a little). I’ve placed rugs on the stairs for him so he
can still make the climb and he’s always on the hunt for birds, squirrels and lizards (that a boy). His dad Randy
calls him King Cooper and the chosen one.
Darling is 12 years old and still a ball of energy. If she is awake, she is moving and thankfully no longer scared
of everything. She’s still very nervous and shakes a lot, but so loving and sweet. She paws you when she wants
attention, (which is all the time) and loves to snuggle, be outside and loves to play with her other brother Tucker.
And an interesting tidbit … she is a Cool Whip crack addict. She may be scared of everything else, but if she
hears the Cool Whip can spray, she comes running for it and lets you spray it in her mouth. She probably makes
50 laps around my house a day, she has a certain routine she takes every time. They both are very rotten and are living there
best life. We can't imagine our family without them.”
We love updates on our Alums!
We have an update on our 2019 alumna Charli. According to mom Kendall, she’s become quite the beach dog this
year and LOVES it! She also has a new sister that her parents recently adopted so she now has a playmate. SEGSP
was contacted about Charli two days before Christmas 2018 when was scheduled to be euthanized at the shelter.
She received the best Christmas gift ever … a ticket to rescue - life and love. We’re so glad to see her so happy!
This is our 2016 alumnus Lefty (formerly Buddy from AL) who has a thing for his dad – so it says a lot that he
is willing to share him with his sister! Lefty’s leg was broken accidentally while nursing as a puppy and after
entering rescue it was amputated so he was no longer in pain. Certainly doesn’t look like he’s in pain here
Our 2018 alumnus Gryffindor, formerly Butterbean, has a very good looking stocking featuring the custom
made dog doll that our volunteer Catherine made for the commemoration of his adoption. Yes, that is a very fine
stocking you have there Gryffindor! Any other good looking GSP stocking out there?
Our 2020 Alum Mako (formerly Socks) is doing great. His family said, “He’s very curious about the Christmas tree
and presents but has been doing pretty good with it. He’s also made a few trips to the dog park and does pretty good
playing with the other dogs but mostly enjoys all the new smells!”
Mako sure has grown to love the beach - look how happy he is there! We don’t blame you, Mako! We love it, too!
2016 Alumna Ali (formerly Lilly from NC) loves soaking up the sun from ‘her’ chair when it’s cold outside…
ALMOST as much as her mom loves seeing her do it! What’s your GSP’s favorite spot?

December 2020: Page 8
A tired GSP is a happy GSP and alumna Lily looks awfully happy :-)
Merry Christmas from our 2020 alumnus
Vinci and his daddy. Any other GSPs out
there with reindeer ears?
Alumni Updates
Prayers and well wishes for our 2020 alumnus Ryder who was just diagnosed with kidney
disease. A few days ago his family noticed he was drinking a lot of water, not eating, and was less
energetic so they took him to the vet for tests. They were negative for a UTI but the blood work was
positive for kidney disease.
Ryder’s dad said he is acting more like himself right now, playing with his GSP sibling, chasing
squirrels in the backyard and bringing the love anytime someone walks in the door – which is encouraging. If
anyone has experience with kidney disease in their own dog, let us know if you have any advice or lessons learned
for Ryder’s family.
Cole, SEGSP Alum, had a procedure Friday to remove & biopsy a mass. He needs prayers &
good vibes for good results from the biopsy AND to get him through 10-12 days in a cone while he
recovers. (Apparently, the cone is not a favorite of his.) We know the Espinosa family loves Cole very
much. Thanks for the happy thoughts!
Max, our recent alumnus from NC (not to be confused with Max from GA), is doing great in his
forever home. Lots of toys, lots of love – just look at that face! Happy Monday everyone :-)
As the saying goes, if you
have your tail up, you are
optimistic and expect to be
successful. So have your tail
up in 2021! Happy New Year!
The training
process was
tedious, but now
he knows it’s not
allowed on the
couch.
Anyone else know this scenario?
Callie, our hospice girl in NC, didn't seem to mind being dressed up for the holidays. Callie was hit by a
car and entered rescue in January of 2018. Her injuries were severe and she continues to have many
physical challenges. This was Callie’s third Christmas with her foster family and we hope to see her
beautiful photos for many years to come.

December 2020: Page 9
We love hearing from SEGSP alumni. It’s often the photos that tell us how
they are doing! Here’s an update on 2012 alumnus Falkner (formerly Hertz,
aka Hank). His mom Amy with awesome photos:
His SEGSP name was Hertz, but Heather (his foster mom) and her husband referred to
him as Hank. I renamed him Faulkner, although Hank was probably the best name. I
should have known he was a pistol when he slipped out of his collar the first time I met
Heather in Montgomery, and subsequently jumped right into the pond after some
geese.
He fooled me on his ride home a couple of weeks later when he was calm. After almost
nine years with me, he has calmed down quite a bit, but he has been a true escape
artist in his time! I even had to install an invisible fence inside the six foot
privacy fence because he was digging out from under the wooden fence! He is a
character.
These days he mainly sleeps, is very sugar faced, and patrols the yard and street for
anything non-human that moves (he has a doggie door into the back yard) and
will snuggle with anyone he can find. In true 2020 fashion, he has caught a possum
twice in the fenced yard (playing dead both times), somehow was sprayed with a
skunk while in the yard as well! He is also quite obsessed with tennis balls, there is
usually one in every picture I snap in the backyard.
I say every year on his gotcha day (April 15th) how blessed I am that Heather and her
husband chose me to be his human, he has been my constant companion, and I was
blessed to work from home in 2020 and spend all our days together. We have annual
pictures taken for Christmas cards… Thank you ALL so much for what you do, you have
my continued support and I will always have at least one bird dog in my house ;)

Alumni Updates
Happy birthday to a very special guy today. Jake, one of the top calendar dogs this year, is
turning 16 today! His 89 year old dad and faithful companion are celebrating today and savoring
every minute. Happy birthday to this very special guy who is loved beyond words.
Happy belated 14th birthday to our 2010 alumna Joey (formerly JoAnne from GA)! Joey
celebrated her birthday in October and we missed it. Her mom Susan said, “Happy Birthday
to our sweet Joey! We love you so much and feel very lucky to have you with us. You are
aging with the same dignity and grace that you have lived your life. Such a trooper! Best
‘foster fail’ ever!" Joey - you sure don't look fourteen - you look marvelous!
Happy 4th
belated birthday to our 2017 alumna Elle! Her
little human made sure she had a birthday hat and candles for
the special occasion
We missed 2012 alumna Sophie’s Gotcha Day Anniversary in October. Her dad Dave said,
“Happy 8th ‘Mutual Rescue Day’ to Sophie (formerly Remy)! Sophie is doing great. I can’t believe no
one wanted this sweet girl. She is an integral part of our family. I can’t imagine my life without her.”
Happy Belated 8th Gotcha Day Anniversary Sophie (and Dave) – looks like you had a wonderful celebration!
#GSPlove #GSPsnuggles
As we end 2020, we wanted to share a happy moment from the Drew family.
Their GSP Jake sixteen years old this month) won 3rd
place in our calendar contest
and his biggest fan is his Grandfather (whose birthday is today). Jake’s mom said,
“I wanted to let you know how much my dad loves his calendar! He opened it
yesterday, along with the precious felted wool dog ornament and the wooden
ornament sent by Nelly and Carolyn. They are precious and such keepsakes for him. Jake is having some
rough days, even more frequently than ever, so this timing was perfect. My dad was overjoyed and cried.
Heartbreaking for us to see him go through this but we are so thrilled that Jake made that calendar and my
Dad will have these memories!
Happy New Year to Jake and his family! And happy birthday to Jake's Grandfather!

If you’re interested in fostering a dog for SEGSP, we really need your help!
If you’re not already a volunteer please complete an application at http://www.segsprescue.org/how-to-help/volunteering/
volunteer-application/ and we’ll coordinate a home-check (the 1st step to fostering). If you’ve adopted a dog from us and you still
live in the same home, you are pre-approved to foster a dog. Thank you!
K9 Foster News
Benelli (SC), who recently had his leg amputated, enjoyed a coastal Christmas. He loves
running along the water and playing with foster siblings. Benelli said "Oh yeah when I walk
now my little booty goes in the air so much higher cuz I don't have dead weight holding me
down… .Also, what’s for dinner smells good?”
Benelli is only ten months old and came to rescue with his right rear leg effectively on backwards. We are so happy to see
him pain-free and loving life again! Thank you to the Green family for all they have done for this handsome young boy!
Puppy Bob (in GA) who recently had a procedure to drain large amount of fluid from his brain wanted everyone to
know that he had a wonderful first Christmas and loves the play rings and other toys that Santa Paws brought for him.
Dancing on his hind feet like a circus puppy and being able to take a toy from a person’s hand are two more “firsts”
that Bob was not able to do before because he did not have the coordination or vision needed for such tasks — he
could only pick toys up off the floor.
We love seeing Bob’s “can do” list continue to grow following his procedure! As you may recall, Bob’s neurologist
has given us reason to be hopefully optimistic for Bob’s continued healing and increased learning and motor functions. Could the
ability to grasp potty training be next for this smart, energetic little guy? Big thanks to foster mom Leanne and her entire family
for their ceaseless love for and patience with this little guy as he continues to explore his world in a whole new way! And thank
you to everyone who donated towards Bob’s care!
Welcome to rescue, Boone (TN)! This youngster appears to be about 1.5 years old. He was found as a
stray and his family never came for him. He ended up at an awesome shelter who worked with us to help
get him into our care. Boone made the trek to his foster home where he found an alligator squeaky toy
within seconds of entering the house. He immediately wanted to play. We know that his foster parents will
have their hands full with this loving and energetic boy, but they have had six GSPs, so something tells us
they know what they are doing.
Stay tuned as we have him evaluated by the vet for his health status … ah, he will be neutered. Boone
wants to be sure to thank his transporters Charlotte and Chara, his shelter volunteer, Caitlyn, and especially his new foster
family, the Petersons, for opening up their home. He promises to try really hard to be a good boy!
Captain, fostered in TN, is currently busy reviewing all of the applications he’s received. It’s keeping him quite
busy. Thank you to his foster mom Wendy for being so patient and dedicated to finding the right home for him.
Charli (NC) had so much fun at her foster home over the holidays! Charli
had a LOT of applications to adopt her and we can’t thank her foster
mom Maddie enough for all the work involved with going through them
all. If you applied to adopt Charli, thank you for your patience – we hope
to have an announcement soon.
Clark in GA (affectionately known as Clank) was only one-week out from his second surgery on his right leg
(more of the femoral head was removed), and already he was back to excitedly telling his stories to his foster
dad while wagging his tail a mile a minute. Clank even hopped up on the sofa this weekend to snuggle with his
foster mom — for the first time ever. It is truly amazing how far this sweet boy has come, body and soul, since
entering rescue in May. Thank you, Michelle and Mason, for taking such amazing care of this very special
boy! https://youtu.be/7_yh_-JYLQo

December 2020: Page 12
Frack (aka Frankie) in FL has quite the happy face. He’s enjoyed rescue with his temporary foster mom Kaley
and foster canine sibling. It takes a special person to volunteer to foster a dog Christmas week! Thank you
Kaley for temporarily fostering Frack (aka Frankie)! And thank you Beth for taking on the Frankie-challenge
LOL! He’s very young and energetic so quite a handful… . Frankie is learning the word ‘no’ but still doesn’t
understand ‘sit’. His back legs are so strong and he’s so hyper, he just looks at her like “yeah right lady, bye”
LOL! He’s a handsome boy, very young, getting used to inside life (he loves the rug and blankets) and of course
he LOVES the new human in his life.
A week of farm life and Frick (aka Hawk) has already put on weight and confidence! His manners are improving
day by day, and with the help of the gentle leader he is learning to walk politely and greet new friends by sitting
instead of jumping. He’ll be neutered early February and he needs a little more temperament evaluation, then
he’ll be ready for adoption. Stay tuned…
Gretta, going through heartworm treatment in NC, loves her toys and no doubt never
experienced the joy of stuffed animals before rescue. She does love the outdoors including
fishing and never stops smiling (except to cuddle with her foster brother). Thank you Mary for
all you do for Gretta!
Precious Hope had the MRI of her brain and we had some good news. She has a fluid filled sac
at the base of her brain so that means nothing structural is wrong. Yay!!! Her doctor wants to wait
another six weeks and repeat the MRI to make sure the sack isn’t getting bigger. Then a shunt
can be placed to relieve the fluid and pressure on her brain. Until then, she will need to be seen
by her vet every two weeks. We are very optimistic that there is a strong possibility Hope can recover as well as Bob
has (the other puppy with neurological issues in Georgia). Thank you for everyone's prayers and support for Hope!
Merlin in GA, our black-ticked little gent, likes to play hard all day and then zonk out early. After spending a few
days with some SEGSP pals, who shared the finer points of keeping watch for chipmunks outside and play-
roughhousing inside, he went back to his foster home and slept like a rock. Merlin is a healthy, now-neutered,
sweet-natured young boy who loves other like-minded dogs who share his eager playing style and don't mind his
energy. Keep watching for updates -- Merlin will begin his search for his perfect forever home soon!
Moose, the skinny boy in AL, already knows the commands “sit, shake, down,” and “crate” and has learned “let’s go to
your room”. He will also “stay” as long as he can still see you. He does great in his crate on car rides — he hops right in
and lays down. Car rides were definitely a part of his life at some point in the past because if there's a car door open he
runs straight to it and tries to hop in. He also loves playing fetch and cuddling with his all-time favorite foster
dad. Moose is heartworm positive so he has more healing to do for the next few months before he’s ready for adoption.
Nova, fostered in AL, has a couple more weeks of exercise restriction, then her heartworm treatment will
be COMPLETE! She’s passing the time trying on silly hats, snuggling with her foster parents and foster
sibling Ari. Nova is REALLY looking forward to 2021 so she can run as fast as she can and not have to
worry about those pesky heartworms ever again!
Odin (aka Gus on left) in Georgia finished his antibiotics for an old paw pad injury and is doing well. His foster
mom, Angela, says he's doing great with leash training and gets along great with his foster sister, Bunny, and is
making progress with the cat. According to Angela, "We adore him!" Good job Odin!
Princess Maggie ended the year with a pending adoption to her forever home and we are so excited
for her! Her future family headed to PetSmart to buy a crate and other items for her arrival in
January. Congratulations to Princess Maggie and her new mom Robin! And a huge thank you to the
Harbour family for all they've done for Maggie (including long naps).

Our senior gal Queenie in NC continues to adjust to her life in rescue. Her foster dad said, “This tiny GSP is
super special. We’re all getting to know each other better but have seen great progress with her anxiety & fear
already. She LOVES a tennis ball (or dozen of them) and it turns out she’s a real beach bum. She absolutely lit
up when her paws touched the sand.”
Riley in FL, has narrowed down her choices for her forever home and should have an announcement soon.
Thank you to her foster mom Lisa for the many hours of work involved with the process of choosing a home for
Riley. Thank you for everyone’s patience – this girl is very popular!
River, being fostered in TN, is such a great model! It took him maybe 3-4 weeks to truly settle into his foster
home but he has really been showing his personality (incredibly stubborn, but too cute to get mad at!) He and his
foster mom are doing training together to get him better on and off leash and he’s doing great! He’s a good boy at
doggy day care and doesn’t even hesitate going up to strangers anymore! He has discovered the joys of hiking and
absolutely loved it. The vet is continuing to work on some bladder issues with River and he will have his first
heartworm injection soon, which means no hikes for two months. This will be tough on this energetic boy, but we
know his foster mom, Andrea, is up to the challenge and we are so grateful to her for taking such great care of him.
Rochelle’s (aka Ellie’s) foster mom Julie shared an adorable video of her (https://youtu.be/iVJDrIYvnTY). Julie
said, “It’s a 30 second microcosm of her personality. She’s relaxing with her stuffy in her mouth, thinking about a
possible nap … then I say her name and she’s up and ready for anything; in this case some ear rubs. She’s
such perfect mix of laid-back, playful, and cuddly. Plus, her tail makes me laugh all day long.” Too cute! Ellie will
be done with her exercise restriction for her heartworm treatment very soon, then she is DONE! Stay tuned … .
Susie, in TN, continues to settle in at her foster home. She’s been spayed, loves car rides and walks, and is
always excited to see new people. Oh, she loves her squeaky toys and sleeping on the couch in the sun. She ’s
even catching on to house-training, enjoys her foster brothers — even when competing for treats — and has
officially started her 4-month long heartworm treatment.
Tugg (NC) has recovered from his neuter and having a growth removed. The cone after his neuter created a
new set of challenges since he was more focused on chewing on his leg wounds (from being chained before he
was rescued). His foster mom Susan said Tugg is moderately active for a young GSP, loves his four daily walks
(his leash skills need tweaking though SQUIRREL). Happily, his temperament is off the charts awesome with all
people but does tend to hoard attention (especially his foster dad) which can be a problem for his foster canine
sibling and is an “exuberant” greeter. Tugg has at least another week in rescue before he can start searching for
his forever home.
Ziva (FL) has had a lot of possible forever homes contact her foster parents. She’s a bit picky so her foster parents are
spending a lot of time determining the right home for her. Thank you for everyone’s patience as they sort through the
wonderful stack of applicants.

Memorials
Every now and then we receive a bonded pair in rescue that stay together
through adoption. Mercedes and her sister Lexi were a bonded pair that
came to rescue in 2019. Sisters from birth, they were surrendered due to
their family’s hardship in 2019 in their senior years. Sadly, Mercedes left
this world a few days ago at the age of fourteen. Her forever-forever family, David and Cindy,
are devastated, but they gave her an immense amount of love in her final year and that is a priceless gift.
Thank you David and Cindy for your love for Mercedes and the compassion you are now giving her sister
Lexi while she grieves.
“I can’t think of anything more rewarding then making the last year of a dog’s life the best it can be.”
