Hello everyone! My name is Dave Schmidt and I am the owner/operator of Guitar Adoptions Inc. I will be your host in this section, so sit back and relax as I tell you a little bit about us. Guitar Adoptions is the offspring of my love of music and beautiful guitars. What started out as a hobby many years ago has grown into one of the largest and most reputable musical instrument dealers in the United States. We are an Internet-based company with years of experience in the industry. Customer service is our #1 priority! We are a privately owned and operated business with a full stocking facility in Northwest Illinois.

Unlike a lot of “online companies” that work out of their homes and/or do not carry inventory, we are a company with a full stock of guitars, amplifiers and accessories you can order seven days a week. Additionally, almost all the photos you see here are done in our own studio so you can see the actual guitar or amp you are buying. Sound clips of guitars are constantly being added, so you not only see what you are buying but can hear it too!

We are not some large corporation that is only focused on the bottom line and pleasing its shareholders. We care about you--our valued customer.

We offer a little something for everyone here--always the best of its class. If you are looking for something in particular and don’t see it, just ask. It’s possible we carry it or, as is our specialty, can have it custom built for you. I appreciate you visiting our Web site, and hope that we have the op-portunity to work with you very soon.

Our Mission Statement is simple:To bring the finest quality guitars, amps and accessories to music lovers all over the World, while offering unequaled selection, pricing, and customer service.

Air on The Side of Caution...A Look at Voyage-air Guitars

By now you have all probably seen the infamous You Tube clip that was a response to United Airlines “allegedly” smashing a passengers guitar. If you have not, then check your in box as I am sure someone forwarded it to you as did the many people who forwarded it to me, both players and none players alike. I will not spoil it for you if on the off chance you have not but a quick summary would go something like this:

A boy and his guitar travel. Boy arrives in one piece, guitar arrives in many.

For traveling musicians, both professional and hobbyist, the restrictions and expense in travel have made taking along our favorite music makers something that we now need to put more thought into as we add guitars to our collections. The very idea that someone, let’s call him “Baggage Handler Man” would pull a Pete Townsend on one of my beloved G&L’s or Larrivee’s is enough to make me want to stay home in the sanctuary of my music room. But is it not the very point of music to inspire and bring joy to those around you? How can I shatter the sound of silence and more importantly play the tune by Simon and Garfunkel, if I am without ax?

Well be calm, my friends as there is a brilliant new solution to your travel guitar needs. One that has taken the ease of traveling with a guitar to new altitudes without having to sacrifice the sound and tone that makes music a thing of beauty.

I present to you Voyage-air guitars.

Page 5: Guitar Adoptions Newsletter Issue 2

Co-Founded by Harvey Leach and Jeff Cohen started what they thought would be a “cool idea” in a small shop in Northern California. They set out to build the worlds first full size acoustic and electric instruments that would fold in half. The brillance of their deisgn is based on a hinge that fold at the neck and allows for full sized guitar to fold safely in two and be placed in a carry on bag. Voyage-air set out to prove that traveling with a guitar should not be an obstacle. Harvey and Jeff not only focused on the problem of ease of use but did so with an unwavering motto of “a guitar player should not have to downgrade their instrument to travel”. Voyage-air guitars are performance level in fit, finish and tone and would make a welcome addition to any high quality collection.

Many times in my life I have had “why didn’t I think of that?” moments. And then I realize, something like this is much better left in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. And after having the oppertunity to play a Voyage-air guitar, Harvey and Jeff have much more capable hands than I. Guitar Adoptions is very pleased to bring you Voyage-air guitars with the hopes that you too will realize that you are free to move about the cabin, happily aware that your guitar is safe and sound in the overhead compartment above you.

Blackbird Singing...A Look at Blackbird Guitars

You know how you never thought that they would build a better T-800 Terminator? Then they show up with the T-1000. What made it so cool at first glance that was it was different, built from different materials that you might not have given any thought to if asked how you would build a robot killing machine from the future? I mean liquid metal, how much ass can liquid kick? The answer. Plenty.

Now, how about a guitar made out of carbon fiber? Are not guitars meant to be made from wood, is that not what the rock gods intended, is this not against their will? How good can a carbon fiber guitar sound? How loud can it be? The answer. Plenty.

Guitar Adoptions is pleased to present Blackbird Guitars as another option for traveling musicians.

Whether you are trekking, sailing, on stage or in the studio, Blackbird Guitars perform and are the best travel acoustics made. The resonance driven design features a proprietary hollow neck and head, one–piece carbon fiber construction, providing a seemingly physics-defying, full and balanced tone with strong bass, clear mids and crystalline trebles as well as uncanny sustain. Leave your nice wooden guitar at home because the big sound, small bodies are nearly indestructible, unaffected by humidity, ultra-light, and compact— but has full-size loudness and richness.

Blackbird sets a new standard for travel guitars.
