WESTERN SPIRE Nancy’s Nugget for Western Presbyterian Three thoughts come to mind as I sit down to write my final nugget. The first: “Thank you.” In particular, thank you to those who have faithfully served with me on Session during the past seven and a half years of transitional ministry. Thank you for your leadership and your ability to listen to each other and to our congregation. Thank you for your thoughtful participation in ongoing discussions about who we are, and where we are headed with God’s help. Thank you, Phil Opdycke, for your service as our Presbytery representative as the Presbytery of Geneva experienced a difficult season of leadership crisis and turmoil. Thank you to those who have served on committees and participated in the ongoing work and mission of the church. Thanks to all who faithfully attend worship and who pray for those on our prayer lists. Prayer is an essential ministry of the church and we ask that you keep it up as you move forward. Thanks to those who have kept up the gardens, assisted at the Food Bank, those who taught Sunday school for all ages, and those who guided CTNS through another change into a stronger program. Thanks to our musicians! What a joy it has been to work with Heather, Jack and Sharon as well as the faithful choristers and ringers. What comfort has been provided at memorial services and how nice it has been to know that you have the pastor’s back! There are so many more thank-yous and not enough space. So, you may hear from me as I clean out files and convert my home office from Western Presbyterian Church’s northern annex into Baruch Farm Growing Ministries headquarters. Second thought: “Love one another.” Be kind and give each other the benefit of grace. Often, we do not know what is really going on in another’s heart, mind and soul. Sharing information is not deeply caring for one another. God is great! Gossip is not so great. An economy of words and absence of judgement may be the better part of valor. Third thought: “Enjoy God!” Have fun with your faith. Be surprised by joy. Look around and see God active in your midst. Be witnesses and heralds of God’s activity and remember, “Lo, I am with you always…even to the end of the age.” I leave you in God’s hands. Soli Deo Gloria! The Rev. Dr. Nancy J. Farrell, June, 2015 P.S. Abi and Tank echo all of the above.

Nancy’s Nugget for Western Presbyterian

Three thoughts come to mind as I sit down to write my final nugget.

The first: “Thank you.”

In particular, thank you to those who have faithfully served with me on Session during the past seven

and a half years of transitional ministry. Thank you for your leadership and your ability to listen to

each other and to our congregation. Thank you for your thoughtful participation in ongoing

discussions about who we are, and where we are headed with God’s help. Thank you, Phil

Opdycke, for your service as our Presbytery representative as the Presbytery of Geneva experienced

a difficult season of leadership crisis and turmoil.

Thank you to those who have served on committees and participated in the ongoing work and

mission of the church. Thanks to all who faithfully attend worship and who pray for those on our

prayer lists. Prayer is an essential ministry of the church and we ask that you keep it up as you move

forward.

Thanks to those who have kept up the gardens, assisted at the Food Bank, those who taught Sunday

school for all ages, and those who guided CTNS through another change into a stronger program.

Thanks to our musicians! What a joy it has been to work with Heather, Jack and Sharon as well as

the faithful choristers and ringers. What comfort has been provided at memorial services and how

nice it has been to know that you have the pastor’s back!

There are so many more thank-yous and not enough space. So, you may hear from me as I clean out

files and convert my home office from Western Presbyterian Church’s northern annex into Baruch

Farm Growing Ministries headquarters.

Second thought: “Love one another.”

Be kind and give each other the benefit of grace. Often, we do not know what is really going on in

another’s heart, mind and soul. Sharing information is not deeply caring for one another. God is

great! Gossip is not so great. An economy of words and absence of judgement may be the better

part of valor.

Third thought: “Enjoy God!”

Have fun with your faith. Be surprised by joy. Look around and see God active in your midst. Be

witnesses and heralds of God’s activity and remember, “Lo, I am with you always…even to the end of

the age.”

I leave you in God’s hands. Soli Deo Gloria!

The Rev. Dr. Nancy J. Farrell, June, 2015

P.S. Abi and Tank echo all of the above.

Your Property Ministry Team says, THANKS! to our many

volunteers who joined us in body and spirit for our spring

yard clean-up and Meet Larry day, including:

Jacob McFarlane, Terry Goodwin, Brian Talma, Rook Talma, Phil Opdycke, Bill Bush, Peter Fadden, Andy Sloan, Bill Hassler, Don Dantz, Steve Kennard, Dave Pinkney, Larry Sprague, Nancy Farrell, and Amie McMullin. We weathered the heat and enjoyed fine fellowship in tending to our beautiful grounds. Thanks, too, to countless others who joined us purely in spirit.

WE DID IT! Western Presbyterian met the challenge and raised $1,200 for One Great Hour of Sharing. Let us pray for all those who will benefit from our generosity. John Cook Co-Chair Mission Team The Worship Committee would like to thank everyone who submitted a prayer for the WPC “You Are In Our Prayers” book. And we would like to extend a special thanks to Patti Squier for creating the beautiful covers, and to Kathy Barr for putting it all together for us. Books are available on the table outside of the office, so please take a copy.
