Welcome to the 2018 Storytelling Conference!  

With all  the classes prepared, you will   definitely learn  something  valuable  today.  Through  SLRC training and development opportunities, you will be better  able  to provide high quality  service  to your customers!  Storytelling – image from ¡Hora de Cuentos!   

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to tell a story or if you are already an experienced storyteller and you want 

to learn more, even if you are not a children’s librarian –the SLRC Storytelling Conference is the right 

conference for you. Come and see why this crea ve art is both as old as the hills and fresh as the next 

cap va ng story!     

Note: Please wear  your  name  tag  at  all  times  to be  able  to participate  in  all Conference 

related activities.  Should you at any time lose your name tag or if you need any help, please 

locate one of our helpers for assistance.   

Parking:  We have no parking on premises, but there is a parking garage just two blocks away from the Library 

at 11 E Franklin St.   There  is also  street parking but  it usually fills up early  in  the morning.   You  can  check

Public Transporta on:  The Light Rail Centre Street sta on is 3 blocks away from the Library. A one‐day pass is

Principles of True, Personal Storytelling 

Laura Wexler, Co‐founder and                

Co‐producer of The Stoop Storytelling 

Series 

Laura Wexler will  present  "The  Power  and  Principles  of  True, 

Personal Storytelling," a  lively and  interac ve explora on based 

on Laura’s experience coaching thousands of people to tell their 

true, personal tales since co‐founding The Stoop in 2006, and her 

ongoing research into the fascina ng science of narra ve.

this  presenta on  will  familiarize  par cipants  with  well‐known 

librarian  storytellers,  including Augusta Baker and Pura Belpre, 

and how they used storytelling to connect with children.

Black Cherry Theatre Company

Par cipants will  learn to tell stories through the art of puppetry 

in this hands‐on workshop that will  lead you through the stages 

of transforming a story into a produc on.
