Anchorage is in the west of the Rocky Mountains and has a North Pacific coastal climate that carries warmer air to south and southcentral parts of Alaska.
Anchorage has a warmer climate than most of Alaska because it is warmed by the Pacific Ocean and the warmer air gets trapped by the Chugach Mountains and Alaska Range.
The low has gotten lower since the beginning of the month, too. On the first day, it was about 15°F and at the end of the month it was -9°F!
In the beginning of the month the high and low were relatively close but at the end of the month they were much farther apart. The weather is growing a lot colder because it’s winter and that’s when it gets colder.
