NOVEMBER COMPETITION NIGHT (POTY) (Monday 12th November 2018) November competition is where we pick the best photo of the year (POTY). You can submit up to 4 photos but only 2 in any category. It must be a photo that has been entered in this year’s competition but it doesn’t have to have won an award. There is no EDI or set subject section so if you wish to enter an EDI entry in POTY it must be printed out. A set subject entry can be entered but it will need to be entered in the colour or Mono section and will compete against all the others. The POTY sections are: Mono, Colour and Nature. A winner will be selected out of each section and the POTY award will be chosen from those 3. POTY entries do not need to be entered on the web as the POTY competition is independent of our web based comps. Bring your entries in on POTY night. NOVEMBER WORKSHOP NIGHT (Monday 26th November 2018) The workshop night will be a presentation by Brad Le Brocque on photographing star trails etal. Bring your camera and tripod. COMPETITION NIGHT

75 31 The judge for the evening was Vanessa Blagden. Vanessa is a former professional photographer. An interest in the arts soon led Vanessa to enter the photography field. She started D+V Photography and over the years has been the director of a number of other businesses—CAD3 Architecture Firm, Studio V and Enviable Home Styling, her most recent venture. Her love of teaching has remained. Over the years Vanessa has employed 39 people in the photography business, many of these high school students from Avondale School. Vanessa has judged photography competitions around the world and has judged at many photo clubs.

OUR SOCIAL OUTINGS AND ACTIVITIES Long Exposure, Sunrise Shoot and Breakfast Social Outing As follow up to October workshop

When: Wednesday 28th November

Where: The rock ledge at the base of Norah Head Lighthouse (30-40 mins away from Wangi)

Time

: Low tide 6.32 am Sunrise 5.37am .Best time to shoot at Norah Head. Ideally from low tide to about half tide (3hrs after the low) would be the correct time and the early morning for the “golden hour”, the first hour after sunrise would be the best light.

Options are to be there for sunrise (around 5.20am) or come around 6 - 7.30am for long exposure photography. Equipment: Camera, tripod, remote shutter release or cable, any ND Filters Breakfast

: 8.30am could use public BBQ’s or have breakfast in nearby café.
