Principal’s Report
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Parent Reading Workshop
Thursday 22nd June at 4pm
At Wangi Wangi PS we strongly encourage students to read every night at home as part of our home reading
program. To further support this we will be holding a parent information session at 3:30pm on Thursday 22nd
June. Reading to children every day has a significant positive effect on their reading skills and cognitive skills
(i.e. language and literacy, numeracy and cognition) later in life. Children on average who are read to more
frequently at a young age achieve higher scores on the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy
(NAPLAN) tests for both Reading and Numeracy in Year 3.
This session is aimed at supporting Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 children to read at home. During this
session we will show examples and discuss simple strategies parents can use to support their child’s reading
development. Teachers will be available to supervise children during this session to support parents who are
worried about child care. We will also be providing a delicious afternoon tea. Please come along for some
really valuable, practical information.
Logo Launch
Tuesday 20th
June at 2:50pm for afternoon tea
The staff, students and P&C are incredibly excited to be launching a new Wangi Wangi Public School logo. This
logo has been created as a result of the community survey completed at the beginning of the year. These
results clearly showed that our logo needed some modifying to bring it in line with the future focussed learning
happening across our school. The logo will only be used on signage, school promotion and on the school
letterhead. This will not impact on school uniforms at this stage. The logo will be unveiled at a brief school
community gathering where a school logo cake will be enjoyed by all. A little hint to get you thinking, the logo
still includes our signature lightning bolt!
P&C Meeting
Our Monthly P&C meeting will occur on Tuesday 20th
June following the Logo launch at 4pm. Please come
along to support our school. Everyone is encouraged to attend!

Two Summers - Yr 4/5
On a giant puzzle piece each student has asked a deep thinking
question from the book Two Summers, a story about the

Pyjama Day On 7th June, WWPS certainly had an unbelievably great
Pyjama Day. I didn’t see one single child wearing school
clothing. We’re very happy with the way we all contributed.
Better still, we raised $180! In the afternoon, many children
did bring in board games and we enjoyed an amazing
afternoon with friends! Pyjama Day was an amazing day to
spend with friends, and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much
as we did!

WWPS Mascot
Well done to everyone that
participated in the Wangi Wangi

will be used for our inspired school

will sit down with a graphic designer
and work on finalising her picture.
Anaphylaxis Reminder Wangi Wangi Public School is a Nut & Seafood Aware school. A reminder to please refrain from bringing any nut or seafood products (including tuna & salmon) to school as we have students who have severe allergic reactions to these foods.
