Snow globes: Souvenir from Vienna
The original Viennese snow globes show the world in miniature. The snow falls quietly onto St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Giant Ferris Wheel.
If you're looking for an original and tradition souvenir from Vienna, then ask for the original Viennese snow globes made by Perzy. These glass globes, with their lovingly created winter landscapes, have enchanted people for over 100 years. The largest selection can be seen (and bought) in the manufacturer's snow globe museum, while selected pieces can be found in many souvenir shops and on Vienna's Christmas Market at City Hall during Advent.
The Viennese snow globe factory resides in one of the old suburban houses in Hernals, one of the city's outer districts. Around 200,000 pieces are produced here every year and supplied to customers around the world. Company owner Erwin Perzy III constantly comes up with new motifs and is a passionate inventor - like his grandfather, who invented the snow globe. The recipe for the artificial snow is naturally a well-kept family secret.
Pretty much any figure the customer wants can be built into the snow globe. Apart from special orders, there are numerous standard models: typically Viennese are the Giant Ferris Wheel, St. Stephen's Cathedral and City Hall.

Vienna City Shopping Malls
We would like to introduce Lugner City and Ringstrassen Galerien as two of several city malls here. Other shopping centers include Gasometer City, Millenium City, Galleria Landstrasse and Q19, which are all easily reached by public transport (subway).
Ringstrassen Galerien
Directly in the city center next to the Opera house at 1010, Kärntner Ring 5-7, this fairly upscale mall is located within two adapted 19th century buildings (connected by a glass bridge - architectonically interesting structure!) and includes 60 shops (focus on Austrian and international designer labels, leather and shoes, jewellery and watches) as well as several cafes and restaurants.
opening hours (shops): Mon-Fri: 10h00 - 19h00 Sat: 10h00 - 18h00
directions: public: U1/U2/U4 Karlsplatzown car: along Ringstrasse, underground parking entrance at Mahlerstrasse (750 parking spaces)
Lugner City
Located to the west of the city center near Westbahnhof at 1150, Gablenzgasse 5-13, this pretty large mall (110 shops of all sectors) includes a fitness center, several restaurants and an entertainment complex (incl. cinema) as well as several doctor's offices.

directions: public: U6 Burggasse-Stadthalle (as well: tram 6, 9, 49 and bus 48A) own car: along Gürtel 300m north of Westbahnhof
Hint: As the mall owner Richard Lugner is a selfmade man and society lion (famous for his special guests at ¨Opernball¨), it might be good to check his website even if you dont want to visit the mall...
Suburban Shopping Malls
A couple of malls can be found at the outskirts of the city (where public transport connection is not optimal, so your own car might be a good option to reach these shopping centers):
SCS - Shopping City Süd
Located (as the name suggests) south of Vienna in Vösendorf this mall is said to be one of the biggest shopping centers in Europe - be prepared to find virtually everything in the 330 shops and megastores there (on a whopping 225.000 sqm)!
opening hours: Mon-Wed and Fri: 9h30 - 19h00 Thu: 9h30 - 21h00 Sat: 9h00 - 18h00
directions: public: Wiener Lokalbahn from Opera (U1/U2/U4 Karlsplatz) to SCSown car: take A2 south (Direction Graz) exit Vösendorf SCS;open-air parking for 10.000 cars(can be very crowded on Saturdays though) pdf-map
SCN - Shopping Center Nord
Large mall (over 80 shops and restaurants) in the north-western part of Vienna (1210, Ignaz Köck Straße) surrounded by several large furniture and hardware stores. In-house entertainment complex with large cinema.
