Display pack quick start guideSTEP 1 – DISPLAY

1. Insertandtwistclockwise toclip the2pinned(EU)or3pinned(UK)plugtoyourpowersupplyandconnectittoyourdisplay.

Your display will turn on automatically whenyouplugitintothemainssupply.

2. Wheneverthedisplayisturnedon,youwillseethe‘SETCLOCK’screen.

3. Usethe and buttonsonthefrontofthedisplaytoadjustthetimeanddate.Usethe buttontoconfirmandcyclethrougheachstep.

STEP 2 – TRANSMITTER1. Open the transmitter by pressing the button,

and pulling the outer cover away from thebottom.

2.Removethebatterytabfromthetransmitter.

3.The red light will flash to show that the unit isworking.

4. On the display, the will light up to showthat it is talking to the transmitter. If the on the display is flashing please refer to the FAQsection.

STEP 3 – SENSORSFor a single phase pack (one mains sensor):1. Atyourelectricitymeter,clipthesensoraround

the mains live cable. Locate your mains livecable, this is usually identified by the colourbrown, red or the letter “L”. You should heara ‘click’ to indicate the sensor has been tightlyclosed.

2.Insert the other end of the sensor cable into one of the sockets in the bottom of thetransmitterandensureitisfullyinserted.

The displaywill now start to show theenergyyouareconsuming.

For a three phase pack (three mains sensors):1. At your electricity meter, clip the sensors

around the mains live cables (attach onesensor per cable). Locate your mains livecable, this is usually identified by the colourbrown,redorthe letter“L”.Youshouldheara‘click’ to indicate that the sensors have been securelyfastened.

2.Insert the other end of the cables in to thesocket in the bottom of the transmitter andensuretheyarefullyinserted.

Yourdisplaywillnowstarttoshowtheenergyyouareconsuming.

For a LED sensor:1. Locate your Imp/kWhpulse output (a flashing

redlightonthefrontofyourmeter).

2.Stickthesquarevelcroaroundthepulseoutput.

3.Place the LED sensor over the square velcro onthemeterensuringthatthegeologoisfacingyou.

4.InserttheotherendoftheLED sensorcableintothesocket in thebottomof thetransmitter andensureitisfullyinserted.

5. Check the imp/kWh value on yourmeter andtakeanotetobeabletoconfigurethisonyourdisplaylateron.Youcanfindouthowtodothisinthesettingssectiononpage9.

Display standThe displaycomesfittedwithastand. Ifyouwouldprefertowallmountyourdisplay,youcandosobyusingthetwoholesontheback(fittingsnotincluded).

Getting startedThe Ensembleallowsyoutoseehowmuchelectricityyourhouseisconsuming.Thesensorandtransmitter measure the consumption at your meter andtransmit it to the display wirelessly. The Smart Plugs measure the consumption of individual appliancesand also transmit this to the display wirelessly. As wellasseeingyourconsumptiononyourdisplay,youcanalsoviewyourconsumptionhistoryandcontrolappliancesonlinewithanadditionalweb pack.

Using your display without the transmitterIfyouarenotusingyourtransmitter,youcanunpairittoseedatafromyourSmart Plugsonly.Holddownthe and buttons at the same time to enterpairmode.The isthefirstmenuitem.Holdthe button down until the display shows 'PAIR?'. Thismeans the displaycannolongerseethetransmitter. Scrollawayfromthismenuusingthe button.Thistakesyoubacktothehomescreen. ThismeansthatthedialonthehomescreenshowsconsumptiononyourSmart Plugsonlyandnotyourhouseholdconsumption.Pleasenote:thiswillbethetotalconsumptionfromalltheSmart Plugsyouhavepairedtothisdisplay.

Fuel tanksThis function will help you keep track of yourexpenditure.Todothisyouneedtoenteryourtargetasdescribedinsettings onpage9.

Thefueltankworkslikethefuelgaugeofacar.Everynightyourfueltank isfilled up with your daily allowance.Overthecourseofthedayyourtankwill empty.

The outer fuel tank shows how much electricityyou have used. The inner fuel tank shows your targetconsumption.

Atfirstthetargetfueltankemptiesatasteadyratethroughout the day. As it learns your pattern ofelectricity usage, it adjusts this steady rate to onethat matches your usage pattern. For example, itwill rememberthatyoudonotusemuchelectricityovernightandtakeaccountofthis. Italsoadaptstothedifferentpatternsforeachdayoftheweek.Youarethereforeabletocompareyourdailyconsumptionwithyourtarget.

Milometer: daily usageThemilometershowshowmuchelectricityyouhaveusedinkWh,CO₂orcostfortoday,thelastsevendaysorthelastfourweeks.

Individual appliancesThe bottom part of the display shows you up-to-date information on how much electricity you areusingatthatpointintime.Youcanswitchappliancesonandofffromthedisplay ifyouwish.Whenyourspeedometer is reading high you can glance at thedisplaytoseeifoneoftheseappliancesison.Youcanalsocheckasyouleaveyourhouse(orgotobed)toseeifyouhaveleftanythingon.

Reading your displayFromthemainconsumptionscreenonyourdisplay,press the buttontocyclethroughtoyourSmart Plugs (if you have any paired). The menu cyclesthrough 'MainConsumption', 'Smart Plug1', 'Smart Plug2'etc.Toscrollbetweenunitsofmeasurement,press the button. To seehistorical data, at anystage,pressthe button.

SpeedometerThespeedometergivesanup-to-dategraphicalviewof the amount of electricity you are using in yourhome. The speedometer shows power up to 22kWandwillupdateeverythreeseconds.

Thenumbers in themiddleof thespeedometer tellyoutheexactvalueinenergy,costorCO₂.

Setting the TariffYouneedtoenterthepriceyoupayforyourenergy.Ifyouhaveonlyonetariff,thenenterthecostperkWh.Thiscanbefoundonyourelectricitybill. Ifyouhaveablocktariffyoucanworkoutanaveragefromyourrecentbillsandenterasonetariff.

What is a block tariff?Yourblocktariffmeansthatforthefirst xnumberofkWh ineachbillingperiodyoupayamoreexpensivetariffthannormal.

Howtocalculateit:takethetotalcostofelectricityfortheperiod(e.g.£120)anddivideitbytheamountofkWhyouused.

Example:If you were billed £120 this quarter and you used1000kWh, then enter the sum of £120/1000kWh =£0.12/kWhinthedisplaysetting[TARIFF1].

Use the and buttons to set the tariff and then press to confirm. If you don’t have asecondtariff,thenleave[TARIFF2]costaszero.

If you do have a second tariff, for example cheaperelectricityovernight,thenenterthecostperkWhforthatsecondtariff.Ifasecondtariffisenteredthenyouneedtoenterthetimethattariffstartsandends.

Usethe and buttonstosetthesecondtariffandthen press toconfirm.Usethe and buttonstosetthetimethesecondtariffswitchesonandthenpress toconfirm.Usethe and buttonstosetthetimethesecondtariffcomesoffandthenpress toconfirm.

If you have entered a second tariff then you arepromptedtoenterathirdtariff.Ifyoudon’thaveonethensimplyleaveitaszero.

Sleep mode(Please note that this option is not available if DISPONissettoON).Therearetwosettings,DISPON(default06:00)andDISPOFF(default22:00).

Thenumbersalongthetopwilldisplaytheconfiguredon/offtimeandthenumbersalongthebottomshowthe current status (i.e. DISP ON/OFF). The numbersalongthetopwillflashtoshowthatyoucanchangethe times. Using and you can set the time youwant.

C-Factor (Calibration)(Please note this only applies when the display ispairedviaaCTclip.)

The calibration factor is an advanced setting thattypicallywon'tneedtobeadjusted.Calibrationadjuststheaccuracywithwhichtheloadismeasuredandthedefault is1.00.Duringnormalusagethiswon'tneedtobechanged.

Pulse count(Please note that this only applies when the display is paired with an LED sensor). Thenumbers along the bottom will show PULSE,and the numbers along the top will show the imp/kWh. The setting varies from 50 to 10,000 imp/kWh,adjustedbypressing and (thedefaultis1,000imp/kWh).

5. With the Smart Plug plugged into a mainssocket, press and hold the button on top for10 secondsuntil thebutton colour changes toamber. Itwill joinwith thedisplay aftera fewseconds.Thedisplaywillshow‘PLUGBUG’

6. If you would like to pair another Smart Plug,press the buttontofindanemptyslotandrepeatstep5usinganotherSmart Plug

7. When you have finished, press the buttonuntilyougetbacktothemainscreen

Smart Plugs track & control appliances

Turning appliances on/off via Smart PlugsTherearethreewaystocontrolyourSmart Plug(s):

1. Press the switch on the front of the Smart Plug itself.

2. Usethe buttononthedisplaytonavigatetothe Smart Plugthatyouwanttocontrol.

Press the buttontoturntheapplianceoff.Toturnitonagainpressandholdthe buttonfora fewseconds.

3. If you have a web pack which contains aninternetbridge,youcanloginonlinetoswitchon/offanySmart PlugpairedtoyourEnsemble. ThisonlinefacilityalsoallowsyoutonameyourSmart Plugs and set automatic timers so theyare able to switch on/off automatically at thetimesyouchoose.

You can have up to six Smart Plugs paired to yourEnsemble display. The Smart Plugssendinformationto the display on specific appliances so you cansee their individual consumption. You can alsocommunicatewiththeSmart Plugsviathedisplay to switch themonoroff,whichgivesyoucontroloveranyappliance.

The Smart Plugs provided with your Ensemble arealreadypaired (ready to talk) to thedisplay; simply plugtheprovidedSmart Plugsintoindividualsocketsand plug in the appliance you want to monitor.Yourdisplay cancommunicatewithup tosixSmart Plugs. To purchase additional ones, please contact yoursupplier.

Along the bottom of the display you can see theenergy being used by that appliance. To see this inmoredetailscrolltothespecificSmart Plugusingthe

button.Theinformationwillthenbedisplayedonthe speedometer. On the display, Smart Plugs are shownas‘PLUGBUG’.

The basicsThebuttononthefrontoftheSmart Plugs will show oneoftwocolours:

Green:powerwillbeprovidedtotheappliance.

Red:theSmart Plugisisolatedandnopowerwillbeprovidedtotheappliance.

Replacing a Smart PlugIfyouwanttoreplaceaSmart Plug,youwillneedtounpairtheoldSmart Plugbeforepairinganewone.

1. Put the display into ‘PAIRMODE’ by pressingthe and buttonsatthesametimefora fewseconds.

2. Go to the Smart Plugyouwishtoreplaceusingthe buttontoscrollthroughthescreens.

3. When you have the Smart Plug you want toremove,pressandholdthecentrebuttonuntilthe display changes from ‘PLUGBUG’ (or thename of the Smart Plug)to‘PAIR?’

4. AddthenewSmart Plugusingtheinstructionsin‘AddingSmart Plugs’above.

Grouping Smart PlugsSmart Plugscanbegroupedtoallowcontrolofmorethanoneapplianceatonce:

1. Press the buttontoscrollthrougheachSmart Pluginturntogettotheoneyouwanttogroup.

2.Holdthe buttonandthenpressandreleasethe buttonto includeorexcludetheSmart Plugfromthegroup.

3. A symbol shows that aSmart Plug is part of agroup.

4. With the display showing its normalconsumption screen, press the button toturn off all of the Smart Plugs in the group.Pressandholdthe buttontoturntheSmart Plugsinthegroupon.

FAQs

Q. Why aren’t my display and transmitter communicating?A. There are three reasonswhy the unitswill haveproblemscommunicating:

• Range – try moving them closer together (seeabove).

• Metal objects close to the display or transmitter – the devices cannot communicate throughmetal. Try moving the units away from anymetalobjects.

• Interference – some household devices caninterfere with the Ensemble devices. Try andlocatethesourceandmovetheEnsembleaway.Thesecanincludehairdryersandradiosetc.

Q. Why is the symbol flashing?A. Thecommunicationsymbolwillflashif:

• The display and transmitter are unable tocommunicate.

• The display isreceivingdatafromtwosourcesatthesametime.Thiscanbesolvedbypairingthe display with the transmitteragain.

1. On the Ensemble display, press and buttons at the same time until ‘PAIRMODE’ isshown (the display will then show this symbol)pressandhold buttonuntilyousee 'PAIR?'on the display.

2. Open the transmitter by pressing the button,andpullingtheoutercoveraway.

Q. How does the Ensemble work?A. YourEnsemblehasasensorwhichisfittedaroundthe cable connecting your meter to your fuse box.The sensormeasurestheamountofelectricalcurrentpassingthroughthecableandthetransmittersendsthis information wirelessly to your display in real time.

Q. How far does the device transmit?A. The Ensemble is designed to operate in a homeenvironment over a range of 30 meters (with twowallsinbetween).Thiscancoverthreefloors,andisalsosuitableforpropertieswheremetersareoutsidethemainbuilding.

Q. How do I reset the display (clear the data and start again)?A. There are two options. You can either erase thememoryorresetthenetwork.

For either option, first unplug the display’s power cable. Thenpress andhold the and buttonswhilereinsertingthepowercable.

The display will first ask if you want to erase thememory,‘RST?’.Select‘Y’( )toerasethememory,or‘N’( )tokeepthedata.Nextthedisplaywillask‘N/W?’. If you want to unpair all connected devices(Smart Plug,transmitterandbridgeifyouhaveaweb pack)select‘Y’,or’N’tokeepthempaired.FinallythedisplaywillaskifitshouldbeaMaster(MST)oraSlave(SLV).SelectMSTusingthe button.Thedisplay will thenaskyoutoreconfirmthedateandtime.

Q. Why does the display show a different reading to my electricity bill?A. The Ensemble system is a good indicator ofyour approximate electricity consumption, but itis only intended as a guide. The sensor does notcommunicatewith yourmeter directly andwill notsendyourreadingstoyoursupplier.

If your supplier asks for a reading, or if you arechecking your bills, always look at the readings onyourmeter(NOTyourEnsemble displayorwebsite)asthesewillcontinuetobeusedforbillingpurposes.

Q. Where do I find my tariff information?A. You can find tariff information on yourelectricity bill. If not, youwill need to contact your energysupplier.
