Language points

1. joke

joke 作动词 , 意为 " 开玩笑 " 。常见用法如下 :

(1) You’re joking! 意为“你一定是在开玩笑吧” , 表示对某人所说的话表示不相信或惊讶 , 也可以说“ You must be

joking! ” 。如 :

2. probably

probably 是副词 , 意为“很可能地；大概”，它所表示的可能性比较大 , 表示有充分的依据、合乎情理或有望实现。如： It will probably clear up this afternoon.

3. What … like …?

What … like? 表示“……怎么样 ?” ， 相当于 how 。如：— What’s the story like?

rain ， shower 与 storm 作名词时，都有“雨”之意，具体含义却不相同。rain 意为“雨，雨水”，是一个总称，具体是什么样的雨，要有一定的修饰词。 After a heavy rain, the trees were getting greener.   　　　 一场大雨过后，树木更绿了。    I enjoy walking in light rains.   　　　 我喜欢在小雨中漫步。     There is often fine rain in spring here.   　　　 春天，这儿经常下细雨。

单词辨析
