Magazine Show 26 Match Review: Bayern v PortoTIMEPICTURE:SOUNDCOMMENTARY

10:01:10Porto fans But first to Munich and a balmy evening that would see Bayern stake their claim as real contenders. They came into their Quarter final second leg trailing 3-1 to Porto. And as the haze made way for the glow of the floodlights; there was growing belief amongst Bayerns passionate support whove come to expect success in this competition.

10:01:31Fans in stairwellPortos travelling fans were also confident. Unbeaten in Europe this season, their exciting team was on the verge of a first Semi-Final since 2004.

10:01:42Read onThey were however were missing Brazilian full-backs, Danilo and Sandro - an area that a ruthless Bayern would exploit, to devastating effect.

10:01:54Man running with ballFrom the very start the home side pressed at a high tempo, this was a different Bayern to the first leg.

10:02:02After fan wearing hat shotAnd in the 14th minute, came their breakthrough; Thiago Alcntara met Juan Bernats cross. Lift-off.

10:02:10FansBayern were rampant and Porto were powerless. Eight minutes after the first goal, Jrme Boateng doubled their advantage putting the Bavarians ahead on away goals.

10:02:27After fansA brilliant third goal soon followed. Philipp Lahm and Thomas Mller combined superbly before Robert Lewandowski rounded things off.

10:02:37After fansMllers deflected effort made it four nil but Bayern didnt stop there.

10:02:43After fan celebA fifth goal felt inevitable and Lewandowski duly delivered. For the third time this season theyd scored five goals in a half.

10:02:56After w/s fansBayerns mission was accomplished. Porto did pull one goal back in the 73rd minute from first leg star Jackson Martnez.

10:03:07After foulBut any glimmer of a comeback was extinguished when Ivn Marcano received a second yellow card and was sent off. Xabi Alonso completed the rout with Bayerns sixth, from the resulting free-kick.

10:03:20Read onA spectacular performance that will live long in Bavarian memories.

10:03:28After dip from blackAs for Porto their first defeat in Europe this season was difficult to take for the clubs coach, in his first campaign in the competition.

10:03:38SOT: JULEN LOPETEGUI(SPANISH)WE LOST ONE GAME OUT OF TWELVE - AGAINST BAYERN, IN THEIR STADIUM. IT'S PAINFUL BECAUSE EVERYBODY WAS EXCITED ABOUT THIS TIE. WE HAVE AN INCREDIBLY YOUNG SQUAD, THE YOUNGEST IN THE COMPETITION AND IN PORTO'S HISTORY. WE'LL BE BACK, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THAT.

10:03:56SOT: PEP GUARDIOLA (GERMAN)

IT WAS ONE OF THOSE MATCHES WHERE EVERYTIME YOU GET A CHANCE INFRONT OF GOAL, YOU SCORE. ITS GREAT BECAUSE THE WAY WE FELT IN THESE LAST FEW DAYS, ESPECIALLY AFTER OUR GAME IN HOFFENHEIM AND AFTER WE FLEW BACK FROM PORTUGAL, I WAS INCREASINGLY HOPEFUL AND CONFIDENT THAT WE WOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WIN THIS GAME, AND THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.

Magazine Show 26 Feature 1: Thomas MllerTIMEPICTURE:SOUNDCOMMENTARY

10:04:24NATSOT: THOMAS MLLER (GERMAN)[NO SCRIPT]

10:04:33C/U cameraIn the Semi-Finals Bayern will hope that Thomas Mller continues to delight the clubs fans. Hes Bayerns top-scorer in Europe this season with six goals in eight UEFA Champions League games. For the man known as the Raumdeuter, or Space Investigator, his success in front of goal is something that comes naturally.

10:04:55SOT: THOMAS MLLER (GERMAN)

BEING IN THE RIGHT PLACE IS NOTHING NEW, I DIDNT MAKE UP THOSE MOVES, THEY JUST SEEM LOGICAL TO ME. I THINK 20% OF THE TIME ITS DOWN TO INSTINCT. SOMETIMES, YOU JUST THINK OF THE MOST OBVIOUS RUN AND YOU GAMBLE A LITTLE. YOU RELY ON YOUR FEELINGS, THINKING THE DEFENDER COULD LOSE THE BALL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

10:05:21After SOTSpeculative, with a touch of good fortune, might best describe Mllers effort against Porto. But the 25-year-old has been finding the net regularly in Europe since scoring on his debut in 2009. He now has 27 goals in only 66 UEFA Champions League appearances.

10:05:39SOT: THOMAS MLLER (GERMAN)

MOST OF MY GOALS ARE SCORED INSIDE THE PENALTY AREA, AND THAT MEANS THAT I HAVE TO POSITION MYSELF WELL IN THE BOX. BUT IM CONSTANTLY WORKING, AND THE MOVES THAT LEAD TO A GOAL ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES THAT MATTER IN A GAME. YOU ALWAYS NEED TO TRY TO GET ON THE END OF A BALL AND BE IN A SITUATION WHERE YOU CAN BE DANGEROUS. BUT THE FANS DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE FIVE ATTEMPTS THAT WERE STOPPED BY A DEFENDER AT THE LAST MOMENT, OR THE RUNS YOUVE MADE OR THE PASSES THAT A TEAMMATE OR YOURSELF HAVE COMPLETED.

10:06:17After SOTNow into their fifth Semi-Final in six years, Bayern and Mller know that the stakes will be higher and the games will only get tougher.

10:06:29SOT: THOMAS MLLER (GERMAN)

IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE THERES NO 'DAVID VERSUS GOLIATH' OR AT LEAST VERY RARELY. ITS JUST THE WAY THE MEDIA PORTRAY IT. AND WHEN YOU REACH THE SEMI-FINALS OR THE FINAL, YOU'VE GOT TOP CLUBS FACING EACH OTHER. IN FOOTBALL AND PARTICULARLY IN TIGHT GAMES AT THE TOP LEVEL, LUCK CAN ALSO PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE. IT CAN COME DOWN TO CENTIMETRES, REFEREEING DECISIONS OR EVEN COUNTER-ATTACKS.

10:06:54SOT: THOMAS MLLER (GERMAN)

WE ALL HOPE THAT WE WILL REACH THE FINAL AGAIN. BUT HOPING IS NOT ENOUGH. WE HAVE TO SHOW WHAT WE CAN DO ON THE PITCH, AND ACHIEVE GOOD RESULTS. WE ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH TO SUCCESS, AND WE HAVE TO KEEP IT UP.

Magazine Show 26 Feature 2: Real v Atlti & Atlti reflectionsTIMEPICTURE:SOUNDCOMMENTARY

10:07:24Fans outside stadiumOn Wednesday Real Madrid and Atltico Madrid met for the eighth time this season, with the home support showing up in boisterous mood for such a high stakes derby.

10:07:37

Teams outWithout an away goal from the first leg, and missing four of their staring XI, Real faced an Atltico defence whod kept eight clean sheets in their last nine European matches. But, with Sergio Ramos playing in midfield, it was the hosts who dominated the initial exchanges.

10:07:55Hernandez side netting13 minutesJavier Hernndez led the Real front line, just his seventh start of the season and it showed with an early miss.

10:08:04Gamez effort28 minutesJess Gmez would test Iker Casillas at the other end but Atlti were limited in their offensive play. It was the European Champions more actively seeking a Semi-Final place.

10:08:17Turan 1st yellow31 minutesArda Turans foul on Toni Kroos earned him a yellow card.

10:08:22Ronaldo free kick31 minutesBefore Cristiano Ronaldo stung the palms of Jan Oblak. The Slovenian goalkeeper was carrying on where he left off a week earlier.

10:08:31Ronaldo chance44 minutesJust before half-time another superb save denied Ronaldo. Anxiety among the home support was clear. Seven matches was their longest winless run against their city rivals.

10:08:44Hernandez miss (Isco assist)48 minutesIn the second period, Isco found Hernndez - who couldnt convert.

10:08:50Koke header69 minutesAtlti rarely ventured forward Kokes header was straight at Casillas.

10:08:56Turan 2nd yellow card76 minutesThen, with fifteen minutes remaining - a pivotal moment: Turan dismissed after receiving a second yellow. Could Simeones men resist the onslaught now?

10:09:12Hernandez miss80 minutesOblak saved from Hernndez as tensions rose and extra time loomed. Then with only two minutes left - the breakthrough.

10:09:22Hernandez goal 1-088 minutesRonaldo with his 19th assist of the season the provider, as Hernandez sent El Bernabu into delirium and Real into the last four for the fifth year running.

10:09:34Full TimeNo more than the reigning champions had deserved.

10:09:39SOT: CARLO ANCELOTTI: (SPANISH)THE GAME WENT AS WE WANTED WE WERE IN CONTROL. WE TRIED NOT TO RUSH WHEN WE ATTACKED, WE TRIED TO GUARD AGAINST COUNTER ATTACKS, AND ABOVE ALL, AVOID PROBLEMS FROM SET PIECES. WE DIDNT WANT TO COMMIT SILLY FOULS AND HAD GREAT CONCENTRATION IN DEAD BALL SITUATIONS. SO I THINK IN THAT SENSE EVERYTHING WENT VERY WELL, THE TEAM DID A GREAT JOB OF DICTATING PLAY THROUGHOUT THE MATCH.

10:10:11SOT: DIEGO SIMEONE (SPANISH)EVER SINCE I WAS A YOUNG BOY I WAS TAUGHT THAT IN FOOTBALL YOU HAVE TO COMPETE. AND WHEN YOU GIVE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE, YOU CAN GO HOME HAPPY. AS A CHILD EVEN WHEN I LOST ID STILL BE HAPPY IF ID GIVEN ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING AND SWEATED FOR THE SHIRT. AND WHEN A TEAM WORK AS MINE DID TONIGHT, THERE ARE NO NEGATIVE FEELINGS, QUITE THE OPPOSITE.

10:10:33SOT: CARLO ANCELOTTI (SPANISH)OUR DREAM OF PLAYING ANOTHER FINAL IS STILL ALIVE SO TONIGHTS GAME WAS VERY IMPORTANT.

10:10:39SOT: CARLO ANCELOTTI (SPANISH)IF WE SHOW THE SAME ATTITUDE WE SHOWED TONIGHT THEN WE CAN COMPETE WITH ANYONE WITHOUT A PROBLEM.

10:10:47SOT: DIEGO SIMEONE (SPANISH)MY PLAYERS PLAY WITH ENORMOUS PRIDE. AND IM GRATEFUL TO BE THE COACH OF A GROUP OF FOOTBALLERS WHO DEVOTE THEMSELVES AS THEY DO.

10:10:58After SOTAtlticos European journey, over in an instant. But it has been another remarkable effort from Los Rojiblancos in the UEFA Champions League. Diego Simeones side are the only team not to concede at home in this seasons competition, developing their reputation as one of European footballs toughest opponents. And with their inspirational coach recently signing a new long term contract, the project looks far from over.

10:11:27SOT: DIEGO GODN (SPAN ISH)WE KNOW THAT PLAYERS COME AND GO, AS HAS HAPPENED THIS SEASON, WE DONT SAY THAT WE HAVE BETTER PLAYERS, BUT DIFFERENT ONES. ONE TEAMMATE LEAVES AND ANOTHER ONE ARRIVES, BUT ALWAYS WITH THE INTENTION OF IMPROVING ATLETICO MADRID. BUT SIMEONE IS THE FUNDAMENTAL PIECE. HES THE LEADER OF THIS GROUP AND THE CLUB. THE PEOPLE FOLLOW AND SUPPORT HIM. SO IT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT TO PICTURE ATLETICO MADRID WITHOUT SIMEONE.

10:11:57After SOTDefeat to their city rivals for the second successive season will have cut deep. But Atltis focus has already turned to La Liga, and ensuring they will take their place in this competition once again next season.

10:12:10SOT: DIEGO GODN (SPANISH)PLAYING IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, IS FANTASTIC. ITS A COMPETITION THAT IS EXTREMELY PRESTIGIOUS AND IS SHOWN ALL OVER THE WORLD. AND ON THIS STAGE WHETHER YOU PERFORM WELL OR BADLY ITS A GREAT SPECTACLE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE AND ALL OF THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO WIN, COMPETE AND DO WELL IN IT.

10:12:34SOT: DIEGO SIMEONE (SPANISH)I THINK THAT MANY COACHES WOULD BE ENVIOUS OF ME WORKING WITH THESE FOOTBALLERS WHO WIN HEADERS, RUN FOR 90 MINUTES, GROW IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY AND COMPETE SO WELL. I CONGRATULATE OUR OPPONENTS WHO PLAYED A GOOD MATCH AND SCORED A LOVELY GOAL. NOW WE PREPARE TO FACE ELCHE, WHICH IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT MATCH FOR US AND CRUCIAL TO OUR PLANS FOR NEXT SEASON.

10:12:59After wipeStill to come, Barcelonas Busquets reflects on his incredible success in the competition.

Magazine Show 26 Feature 3: Sergio BusquetsTIMEPICTURE:SOUNDCOMMENTARY

10:14:05From topAs Barcelona march towards a potential fifth European Title we continue our series One Club Men by looking at the pivot at the heart of their midfield, Sergio Busquets.

10:14:19On Barca flag slomoThe Son of former Bara Goalkeeper, Carles Busquets, the 26 year-old was born just 20 km north of central Barcelona; and was a Blaugrana fan from birth.

10:14:30After close up on eyesBusquets graduated from La Masia academy and made his first team debut under Pep Guardiola in 2008, when he was only 20. He ended that season by winning the treble and emulating his father by lifting club footballs biggest prize.

10:14:47SOT: SERGIO BUSQUETS (SPANISH)

OBVIOUSLY THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE IS THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS CLUB TROPHY YOU CAN WIN AS A PLAYER. ITS THE COMPETITION IN WHICH EVERYONE DREAMS OF MAKING A BREAKTHROUGH, GETTING MINUTES ON THE PITCH AND PLAYING MATCHES, AND IT ALL WENT VERY QUICKLY! I MADE MY DEBUT AGAINST BASEL AND SCORED, THEN I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO KEEP MY PLACE IN THE TEAM, AND WE KEPT ON PROGRESSING THROUGH THE ROUNDS UNTIL WE REACHED THE FINAL. HAVING MADE THE STARTING XI, I EXPERIENCED EVERYTHING THAT SURROUNDS A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL: ALL THE PRE-MATCH FESTIVITIES, A PACKED STADIUM WITH FANS OF BOTH TEAMS. IT WAS AMAZING, AND SOMETHING ILL NEVER FORGET.

10:15:31After SOTBarcelona were sweeping all before them, revolutionising modern football, and Busquets role was crucial. Just four years into his career, he had won every major trophy for both club and country.

10:15:44SOT: SERGIO BUSQUETS (SPANISH)

ITS ABOUT BEING PROFESSIONAL. PROFESSIONALS KNOW THAT YOU HAVE TO BE AS PREPARED AS POSSIBLE AT ALL TIMES IN ORDER TO HELP THE TEAM AND ACHIEVE THE OBJECTIVE, OF WINNING TROPHIES, ITS NOT EASY. DURING THAT PERIOD, WE ACHIEVED SOMETHING INCREDIBLE AND ITLL PROBABLY NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, AT LEAST NOT FOR MANY YEARS. BUT IN THE END WHEN ONE SEASON ENDS, ANOTHER BEGINS, AND YOU START AGAIN FROM ZERO. WHAT YOUVE WON BEFORE DOESNT MATTER; ITS ABOUT DOING WHATS NEEDED TO WIN AGAIN. THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT.

10:16:18After SOTDespite falling short in their defence of the trophy the following season, Guardiolas team illuminated the competition once again in the 2010/2011 season.

10:16:32CelebBarcas performance in the final, on a special night in London, was nothing short of spectacular.

10:16:39SOT: SERGIO BUSQUETS (SPANISH)

I THINK ITLL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANOTHER TEAM QUITE LIKE THE ONE THAT WON THE FINAL AT WEMBLEY. IT WAS FULL OF GOOD PLAYERS, AND WE PLAYED GREAT FOOTBALL. THE GAME CHANGES AND EVOLVES, AS DO PLAYERS AND COACHES, AND I DONT THINK ANYBODY HAD EVER SEEN A TEAM PERFORM IN A FINAL QUITE LIKE WE DID AT WEMBLEY THAT YEAR, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE WE WERE UP AGAINST MANCHESTER UNITED; A GREAT TEAM. BUT THIS YEAR, I THINK WERE IN A GOOD POSITION TOO, BUT OUR STYLE IS DIFFERENT; WE HAVE DIFFERENT PLAYERS. HOPEFULLY WE CAN DO IT, ITS OUR LONG-TERM GOAL.

Magazine Show 26 Feature 4: Barcelona v PSG and Verratti reflectionsTIMEPICTURE:SOUNDCOMMENTARY

10:17:21After slo mo walking shotIf Sergio Busquets is to get his hands on a third UEFA Champions League winners medal, Barcelona first had to finish the job against Paris Saint-Germain.

10:17:30Teams outAfter their 3-1 win in the French capital a week earlier, the Barcelona fans expected their side to make smooth progress to their seventh competition Semi-Final in eight years.

10:17:42ActionPSG were boosted by the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovi and Marco Verratti from suspension but any hope of a famous comeback was dashed early on.

10:17:53After beatThe records will show an assist for Andrs Iniesta but that really doesnt do him justice. Neymar finished from the Spaniards mesmeric run and pass.

10:18:07After goalBarca and Neymar soon had a second. Making it 95 goals so far this season for the teams front three.

10:18:16Ibrahimovic close up Ibrahimovi cut a frustrated figure - his late effort was PSGs first on target. Lionel Messi nearly made it 3-nil on the night - but Luis Enriques 50th game in charge, had gone perfectly to plan.

10:18:32SOT: LUIS ENRIQUE (SPANISH)the players understood what was needed in the match, its intensity and its importance, despite ALREADY HAVING A good result. The target NOW is to be better than the semi-finalist we will draw and to EARN OUR PLACE IN THE FINAL ON THE PITCH. Thats the OBJECTIVE in this competition.

10:18:51After SOTDefeat to Barcelona represented a third successive Quarter-final exit for PSG. Progress perhaps in the context of the clubs history, but sights are set now very high in the French capital.

10:19:03SOT: LAURENT BLANC (FRENCH)

We did what we were able to do with OUR CURRENT MEANS. It should also be said that our resources RIGHT NOW, compared TO a club like Barcelona and the team that THEY have, are not enough to expect to qualify.

10:19:23After SOTPSG may have been outplayed again by Barca but there was much to admire in the combative play of the returning Marco Verratti. The 22 year-old never gave up, completing 93 passes. The Italian has blossommed at PSG this season.

10:19:39SOT: MARCO VERRATTI: (ITALIAN)I think for a young player trust is the most important thing. When things are going well its easy to have lots of people close to you helpING you, but its in the DIFFICULT times where you see the help and support that this club gives you. So Im very happy to have teammates LIKE THIS, I get along with them off the pitch too, and that has helped me a lot.

10:20:05After SOTVerrattis clever passing and eagerness to join the attack have drawn comparisons with Andrea Pirlo, and attracted much praise. Putting him on the radar of some of the continents other top clubs so PSG fans will be relieved to hear he sees his future in Paris.

10:20:22SOT: MARCO VERRATTI: (ITALIAN)It was DIFFICULT at the start, because I came from a SMALL town, not even a tenth the size of Paris. So it was hard. But thanks to many people and my family I've adapted pretty quickly, and have discovered Paris BIT BY BIT, and now I really love it. I have to say thank you to Paris SAINT-Germain, because they have given me three splendid years, and I hope I can experience many more.

10:20:50After SOTIn the meantime PSG and Marco Verratti will turn their attentions to winning another French League title and to making an improved assault on the UEFA Champions League next season.
