TUTORIAL 105 – Using the TNI Network Inventory Tool 1. First, you will need to install Total Network Inventory 2 by going to the site and clicking on ‘Download trial’ at the top right of the screen: http://www.softinventive.com/products/total-network-inventory/ 2. You can either save or run the .exe file. When the dialog box comes up, you will be prompted to click next until the program is installed. All of the options can be left at default. The last step is to click finish and launch the program.

TUTORIAL 105 – Using the TNI Network Inventory Tool

1. First, you will need to install Total Network Inventory 2 by going to the site and clicking on ‘Download

trial’ at the top right of the screen: http://www.softinventive.com/products/total-network-inventory/

2. You can either save or run the .exe file. When the dialog box comes up, you will be prompted to click

next until the program is installed. All of the options can be left at default. The last step is to click finish

and launch the program.

3. When the program opens, you will see this screen:

4. In the top right hand corner, you will need to click the blue question mark and ‘enter license key’. This

must be entered correctly, including the period after LLC, or it will not recognize the company name.

You will need to do this to unlock all of the features of TNI2.

5. Once you are at the launch screen, you will need to create a storage location. Either on the desktop

or to a removable storage device.

6. After selecting a destination folder, you are brought to the main screen. On the right side, you need to

select the ‘Workgroup’ or ‘Domain’ or ‘IP Network’. Once you select one, press the ‘Start Scan’ button in

the top right.

7. After the scan has finished. Click the ‘View Details’ tab on the top. On the left side check the box that

says ‘Multiple Selection’. Then select all the computers/printers you want to run a report on.

8. On the right side of the screen check the box that says ‘Several Catagories’. Check the box’s that are

applicable. Once you have selected the catagories press ‘F5’. This will refresh the main window, and

show you the details of computers/printers you selected ( Step 7 ).

9. Now that you have your report. You need to export it. Above the main window you will see a little file

icon (next to the printer icon ). Click ‘Export to CSV file’. Label the file the name of the practice, and

save it into the folder you created earlier (see step 5. ).
