Setting Persuasive Moods
This first persuasive technique is by far the most important persuasive technique, because it sets the stage for future use of other persuasive techniques. The first step to a proper persuasion is getting the person whom you are persuading in a positive mood. Before you can begin using other persuasive techniques, you must first put them in a mood to accept new things in a happy manor and eventually become persuaded by our master persuasive techniques.
Assert Your Dominance
Asserting your dominance is an important persuasive technique, because it allows you to be the master of the conversation. Every conversation will have a more dominant person, and becoming this person is essential to your persuasive techniques. Have you ever wondered why it is so hard to persuade our parents? We may be using the proper persuasive techniques, but it often does not work. The reason for this our ability to show dominance over our parents. They will always have dominance and thus make our persuasive techniques nearly useless.
Becoming Trustworthy
Becoming trustworthy gives your persuasive techniques a higher success rate. Persuading someone is much easier when they trust you. Persuading a stranger to do something for you is much harder than persuading a close friend because of this persuasive technique. When you are considered a trusted friend, people are more likely to accept your persuasive techniques and give into your argument (or whatever you are trying to persuade them to do).
Finding Common Ground
A great persuasive technique is finding a
common ground. Become one with the person
you are persuading. This will make you much
more in sync with the person you are
persuading. Persuasive techniques can become
more successful when you remind the person
you are persuading that you are just like them.
This persuasive technique works especially well
in advertising.
Being Unique
An expert persuader is always unique in their
persuasion techniques. If you go tell someone
that you can offer them something new and
unique, they will be more inclined to accept your
offer. Finding a way to add a sense of being
unique to your persuasion is very important to
your persuasive techniques. Again, this
persuasive technique is often very successful in
advertising.
Confidence
This persuasive technique is not only one of the
most effective, but it is also the simplest. To get
someone to respect you, be confident. When
trying to use persuasive techniques, confidence
is key. While you are being confident, make sure
you don’t come across as arrogant.
Enthusiasm
Being persuasive requires the person you are
persuading the become interested and invested
in you idea, product, etcetera. A persuasive
technique to make them interested is to show
interest yourself. Smiles are contagious.
Logos
Logos is an important part of your persuasive
techniques, and we are not talking about your
company logo. We are talking about logos or
appealing to logic. Make your persuasive
techniques seem logical. What you say must
make sense for your persuasive techniques to
work. Humans love a logical mathematical
equation for success (or whatever your
persuading for/selling).
Pathos
A very important persuasive technique is pathos.
Pathos is appealing to human nature and
emotions. A great way to persuade anyone is to
make them emotional. If you exploit their
emotions, they become vulnerable to your
persuasive techniques.
Ethos
Appealing to someone's character and ideals
with ethos can often help your persuasive
techniques. Question someone's ideals, and
make them feel like they can either accept your
persuasion or they are morally incorrect. Be
polite with this persuasion technique.
