* Thessaloniki is located in the northern part of Greece and has a population about 1 million, Founded about 315 B.C. It’s the

second largest city in Greece today.

*Thessaloniki is 23 centuries old. It’s the capital of Macedonia. It

was first established in 316 B.C. by Kassandros and names after

his wife Thessaloniki, half sister of Alexander Great.

* The White Tower is Thessaloniki’s most famous building, located in the eastern part

of the waterfront. It’s a round fort-tower, built in the 15th century as part of the fortification

of the city. During Ottoman occupation, the White Tower was whitewashed and as a result It was renamed to “White Tower”. Nowadays

it’s used as an exhibition space by the Museum of Byzantine Culture.

* Stretching from the harbor to the white tower, all the way to the east part of the city and beyond, it’s the

delight of locals, as well as visitors, who can be seen strolling at any time of day, in any weather condition.

The coastal road is filled with cafes, some of great style and fame, that provide just the right

atmosphere to pause your walk, enjoy perhaps a beautiful sunset while sipping your frappe or Greek

coffee.
