Just a few of about 150 people who gathered at Day's Chevrolet for the reveal. GOTCHA’ is a great word to describe his reaction.

Keith Cearns, Steve Waddell and Bob Klinger work on the brakes.

Randy Kicklighter was happy to get the seats installed that he refurbished.

This is the interior we started with.

Dan Casey is glad to get the old nasty, worn out carpet out.

Several different problems are attacked at the same time.

Steve Hodge really gets into his work. After the seats are out we can see what we have in front of us.

Butch Chellino becomes a human hoist under the back.

Holly watches Eric Gillespie at Collision Pro apply the torch red paint.

Bob Klinger(L) and Charlie Koninsky work on the door weather stripping.

Ken Cearns and everyone had some fun.

Toni and Carl Etter work on a door panel together.

Larry Yon(R) presents the car to a very happy Holly and Adam Troxel. Adam is all smiles as he exits his car.

It is a new year! I like the sound of the word “new”. It conjures up all kinds of emotions and visions. Like the feel and smell of a new car. You know what I am talking about. The way you are sitting at a stop light and have to look at the tach just to make sure the engine is still running because it is soooo smooth. Or better yet, how about a new baby. Your mind marvels at this miracle of new life laying there before you. Sleeping so still in the crib you have to reach down and lay a hand on them just to make sure they are still breathing. I like the sound of a new year as well. It gives us the opportunity for new adventures. It allows us to make new promises, put misadventures behind us and put time between past sorrows that lets us move forward.

That being said, we as a club have the opportunity to meet new people, go to new places, help new people, and volunteer at new events. Sign up for the Valentines Cruise, volunteered for SuperVette, tell Rick Engle you would like to be an event leader, sit at a table with someone new at club meetings, and ….. well you get my meaning. You will never know how much fun you can have if you don’t get out of your comfort zone. As many of you have heard me say before, Rita and I have met our very best friends through Classic Glass Corvette Club. Some have moved away but we still remain close because of the friendship

created by CGCC. It wasn’t done by just attending meetings. We went to many events and sat and talked with lots of people.

Carl Etter has a good start for SuperVette Saturday but he still needs a lot of help. We will be needing items for the silent auction and giveaways. We will need people to help set up and take down the tables and chairs, as well as all the other tasks it takes to put on our show. Carl will let us know when and where he needs help but it is up to us to volunteer.

Rick may not be able to make each and every event so he will be needing help leading some cruises. Step up and volunteer to be an event manager.

Ok, time for me to step down from my soap box. Let’s just go out there and have some fun this year, some new fun and a little old fun as well.

Hope to see y’all at the Cavalry Children’s home outing and the Valentine’s Day cruise as well. The “Not So Newlywed” game should be as exciting as always.

Remember, it is the cars that brought us together but it is the people that keep us coming back.

    Greg

"PS We recognize the next meeting is on Valentine’s Day. We will try and make it a special day for everyone. Hope to see you there."

provides a lifetime warranty on paint jobs. Scott offered the use of his shop to the Club for demonstrations, meetings, etc. Randy Kicklighter acknowledged the dedication and hard work of all who helped with the restoration project. Expectations: Greg has two expectations for the club this year. The first is to Get Involved. Greg provided the following examples: volunteering to be an event coordinator and helping with SuperVette Saturday. He also asked that active members get in touch with those that haven’t been to a recent meeting or participated in recent events. The second expectation is with the Budget. If you have a project you’d like the club to sponsor or to be involved with, send an email to any of the Board members with the information. Greg then gave the members a group hug because he hadn’t yet received a single derogatory email! Minutes: There were no minutes to present because the last meeting was the Holiday Party. Treasurer’s Report: Lilas Pratt presented the report. She noted there is an addition error which will be corrected in next month’s report. Doug Reed made a motion to accept the report, Wayne Ray seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously. Membership: Chris Reed advised that raffle tickets will be used for the membership drawing instead of the sign-in sheet in order to preserve the list of attendees. Chris also advised that membership dues are due.

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Greg Brooks. Greg welcomed everyone to the first meeting of the New Year and introduced this year’s Board of Directors: Steve Waddell, Keelie Sparks, Frank Macaluso and Larry Yon. Greg then introduced the Officers: Chris Reed, Vice President of Membership; Rick Engle, Vice President of Activities; Tonie Etter, Vice President at Large; Lilas Pratt, Treasurer; and Mana Swope, Secretary. Greg stated that both Chaz Cone, Webmaster, and Calvin Cruce, Newsletter Editor, have agreed to stay on for another year, and that Jim Johannes will be taking over the club store. Greg announced that Carl Etter will be the SuperVette Czar again this year. Audit: Greg stated his wife, Rita, will be performing the bookkeeping audit again this year (Rita has done the audit for the past two years). He had previously asked the Board if there were any conflicts, but there were no objections from the Board. There were none from the membership as well. Restoration Project: The Troxel restoration project reveal was Saturday, January 7, at Day’s Chevrolet. There were approximately 150 people in attendance, including a photographer from the Marietta Daily Journal. On behalf of Day’s Chevrolet, Jennifer Still made a presentation of $500 to Adam Troxel. Tonie Etter introduced two special guests: Scott and Jackie Blalock, owners of Collision Pro & Restoration. Collision Pro performed the bodywork and the paint job on Adam’s car. After thanking Classic Glass, Scott stated his shop does collision and restoration repairs, and provided a brief description the work they do. He answered several questions from CGCC members and then mentioned that he

Larry then asked Nancy Holmon to come to the front of the room. There he presented her with a Lifetime Membership for her 25 years of continued service to CGCC. VP at Large, Greg Brooks asked if anyone had a new car since the last meeting. With none, he proceeded with the 50/25/25 drawing. He said the pot had grown to $156 so each winner would receive $39. The lucky winners were Cindy Cowart and Rita Brooks. Next Chris Johnson, VP of Membership introduced our visitors including Greg and Judy, who told us of their 2006 yellow vette. He stated that he had gone to high school with Frank Macaluso. Susan and Wayne were excited to tell us of their 1962 with 64,000 original miles when they purchased it.

Larry thanked our Sideline’s staff for their attention to the group tonight. With all business concluded, the meeting adjourned at 8:28pm. Respectfully submitted, Keelie Sparks, Secretary 2011

6oth Anniversary SuperVette Saturday: The event will be held on May 5. Carl Etter will ask Chaz to put the sign-up sheets on the website. He warned that if you don’t sign up, you will get a phone call. Ads have already been made up and mailed out. Scott Oliver asked that each member solicit donations from businesses for door prizes/silent auction – no donation is too small. He advised that we need to start now. Jennifer Still announced that Day’s Chevrolet is donating $1,500 for SuperVette Saturday, which prompted cheers and applause from the members. NCM Ambassador: Charlie Koninsky stated that tonight was the last chance for the $10 NCM raffle tickets. The raffle is to be held on February 2. Charlie mentioned that the NCM events noted in black on the Events calendar are club-supported. He then discussed the upcoming club-supported events: Volunteer work weekend – June 2; C5/C6 Bash – in April; 18th Anniversary – Labor Day weekend; Vets ‘n Vettes – October 31-November 3. For a list of all NCM events, he directed members to the NCM website: corvettemuseum.org.

Charlie advised the Baymont has been bought out and will become a Holiday Inn Express. After April, the CGCC rate will increase to $74 (currently $69). He is working on blocking rooms for the club-sponsored events. Club Store: Jim Johannes is holding a “liquidation sale” of some of the older merchandise, which includes pins and 2011 SuperVette shirts. He also has CGCC windshield clings for $10. Jim is looking for fresh ideas for a new clothing line for members in order to show a bigger

Chris introduced the four new members receiving name tags and window clings as well as the new member who joined the club that night. There were two visitors, both of whom were introduced by their CGCC friends. There were 76 members in attendance, and Jane Tenedini won the membership drawing. Activities: Rick Engle thanked everyone for attending the Holiday Party and also thanked those that helped with the Chick-Fil-A Bowl Parade. He advised that the Events Calendar has new entries, some of which are tentative (waiting on confirmation). He then directed everyone’s attention to the flyers describing the January and February activities. The Calvary Children’s Home “Bowl-a-Thon” will be held at Stars & Strikes in Dallas on January 21. This venue has more to offer the kids and was less costly than the previous venue. There will be 28-30 attending from the Home. The Valentine’s Day cruise will be to Chattanooga on February 11-12. The first stop on Saturday will be at the Georgia Winery in Ringgold, followed-up with a cruise through the battlefields to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. After dinner (possibly at the Station House Restaurant), Greg will be hosting the “Not So Newlywed Game.” Sunday morning starts with a breakfast buffet, then a trip to the Tennessee Aquarium. Rick is looking into a boat cruise for the afternoon. Reservations for the hotel are to be made by the club members. Those wanting to go up Friday night will be given the code to receive the reduced room rate. Rick’s goal is to have one club activity each month. He asked for assistance from the club in chairing events, and he also asked that members sign up for the events they wish to participate in on the website. Continued on page 6

continued from page 5 club presence at events. One suggestion he presented was to monogram the club logo along with the member’s name on shirts. Webmaster: Chaz Cone reminded everyone to submit a picture of their Corvette for the Members Garage. VP at Large: There was one new Corvette in response to Tonie Etter’s question about new cars - Evert Hekman announced he recently purchased a 2011 silver coupe from Day’s Chevrolet. Tonie requested that members help in finding guest speakers to share information with the club. She advised that the information does not necessarily have to be about cars, but could be something of interest to all. There was $204 in the 50/25/25 drawing. Both Glenn Brooks and Nancy Alexander won $51 each. New Business: Doug Reed asked that

the members support the businesses that have helped out with our projects and events (e.g., the Troxel restoration and SuperVette Saturday). A list of business was requested. Closing: After Greg thanked the Sidelines wait staff, he reminded the club that the next Board of Directors Meeting is February 7 and the next General Meeting is scheduled for February 14. Respectfully Submitted, Mana Swope Secretary Classic Glass Corvette Club 2012

Chuck Bowen attaches the static cling for his rider. He is a new member and first time parade participant.

The crowds were large and boisterous all along the parade route. It was a great feeling to be in the middle of that atmosphere. Come join us for the next one.

Keelie Sparks clowns around with Aubie, The Auburn University mascot.

    2011 Chick-fil-A Bowl parade was a success

and the best December weather ever sure helped. The route was a sea of orange and blue and energetic fans. Lunch afterward at the Marietta Diner hit the hungry spot.

Mike Rose and Teresa Spiesel head down the parade route. With our horsepower we don't need a cleanup person.

Information on the 2013, 60th Anniversary Edition Corvette

All 2013 Corvette models will be available with a 60th Anniversary Package, featuring an Arctic White exterior with a Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior with suede accents. Convertible models will have a blue top. Additional content includes a ZR1-style rear spoiler, special badging, gray-painted brake calipers and the “60th” logo on the wheel center caps, steering wheel and seat headrests. An optional graphics package adds full-length racing stripes in Pearl Silver Blue, including a tonal stripe stitched into the convertible top, extending the graphic theme over the roof. For 2013, all Corvettes will feature 60th Anniversary badges on the fascias and the “waterfall” panel on convertible models, as well as 60th logos in the instrument panel gauge cluster and on the sill plates.

427 Convertible Collector Edition to be available in 2013

“The 2013 model year will be historic for Corvette, marking its 60th Anniversary and the final year for the current ‘C6’ generation,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Global Marketing and Strategy for Chevrolet. “We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate these milestones than bringing back one of the most-coveted combinations in the brand’s history – the Corvette convertible and a 427 cubic-inch engine.”

The Corvette 427 Convertible blends elements of the Z06 and ZR1 models to create the fastest and most-capable convertible in Corvette’s history. Its heart is the 427-cubic-inch (7.0L) LS7 engine from the Corvette Z06. It is the most powerful engine ever installed in a production Corvette convertible. It will only available with a six-speed manual transmission.

The 427 Convertible also features several carbon-fiber components, a raised hood, Z06-style fenders, and floor panels that help reduce weight.

The combination of low mass and high output will make this one of the fastest convertibles in the world, delivering estimated 0-60 performance of 3.8 seconds, and a top speed of more than 190mph.

2013 Corvette model run information you need to know The 2013 model run is the final model run for the C6 Corvette. This means the 2013 model run will be the last opportunity to purchase the current Corvette models, including Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1. The 2013 model run is also scheduled to start production in May 2012. The 2013 Corvette production period is expected to run for approximately nine months. That means the next model run will NOT immediately follow the end of the 2013 model run. Dealers will need to be prepared for several months in 2013 without Corvette production.
