WE CELEBRATE BAPTISM Baptism is celebrated on two Sundays of the month at 1:30PM. Parents must come to the Rectory to complete a special registration form for Baptism. Upon completion of the form, a Baptism date will be given by Sr. Mary. Please do not make arrangements for a Baptism Celebration before you get a Baptism date from Sr. Mary, as we may not be able to grant any special requests for a particular date. Parents of first children are required to attend one Baptism Preparation Class (as well as parents who have never participated in a Baptism class). Registration for the Baptism Preparation Class can be made at the time the Registration Form for Baptism is completed with Sr. Mary.

WE CELEBRATE MARRIAGE Our Parish Pre-Cana Program prepares these couples for the responsibilities and joys of Christian marriage. It is necessary to arrange your wedding date with the Church at least six months in advance. Please call the Rectory (744-2609).

ANNULMENT – Reestablishing The Freedom To Marry An annulment can be described as a declara on of sacramental matrimonial invalidity. It is an official determina on made by an ecclesias cal court that at the

me of the marital consent exchanged by the par es a specific component of the marriage was lacking or defec ve. Hence, the marriage failed to be a sacramental marriage as defined by the Catholic Church. If you wish to reestablish your freedom to marry in the Church contact the Diocese of Rockville Centre. If you would first like to speak to someone who has been through this process, please contact Philip and Donna Liscia at: 631-942-4645.

WE MINISTER TO THE SICK AND HOMEBOUND If you are sick or homebound and would like to receive Communion at home, please call Sister Mary at the Rectory (744-2609).

Fr. Augustine’s Message My dear people of God who have deep faith in Jesus, the Son of the Eternal Father. Peace and blessing to you and your fami-lies. One more week end is here for us to get together as family, physically in the Church and spiritually from our homes watching the Holy Mass and having the spiritual communion. Thank you so much for your faithfulness and love. With the help of God we will overcome every trials we face, because we have the Lord Jesus Crucified, who went through the trials and cross, who knows the pain of troubles, who overcame everything with the help of the Father in heave. Is it not a great hope that he gave us by his journey from Gethsemane to Calvary and then offering everything to our Heavenly Father. This weekend Gospel tells us that He is there in every moment of our lives to hold us, to lift us up, to comfort us and the give us hope in life. Peter could walk on the water, because his sight was on Jesus. When he lost his sight in him he was in trouble but Jesus was there as the Savior even when Peter was not expect-ing him there. That is the Lord of love and compassion we have as or Hope. Continue to be the child of that Father, sharing Jesus' son-ship. God asks us to-day, "Can you be my Child?"

God bless you all and have a blessed weekend. Watch and pray this video for yourself and for each other . Fr. K. J. Augustine

2020—2021 Religious Education

Dear Parents, I hope you are well and not too overwhelmed by the current events! As you might expect, the immediate future of Religious Education clas-ses at the building is going to be difficult. We may be forced to begin this year a little differently, but I am sure we can all grow in our relationship with God and our Faith. Please realize that God will be with us through it all, and His Divine Providence will enlighten us and guide us. In order to have a program that will assist the children in their Faith For-mation, we will have to buy into a digital book and resources. There will be a hard copy book, so that when we are in the classroom, it can be used as well. Your Registration Fee is needed to defray the cost of the pro-gram. Please realize that many of our volunteer teachers are older and may have reservations about returning in September. I, therefore, have to prepare for a different format. I will be there for you and the children, and we will get through this together. Change is difficult for all, but with patience, God's help, and our willing-ness to give something new a try, our children will gain knowledge and deepen their relationship with Jesus. My prayer for a healthy and relaxing summer. God Bless You, Sister Phylis

Weekly Reflection A “LITTLE” FAITH In Matthew’s Gospel, Peter often serves as a representative of Jesus’ other disciples, and of all who strive to follow Jesus. When Peter de-sires to imitate Jesus by walking on the water in the middle of the storm, maybe wishing to show how strong his faith is, he encounters his own limitations and his need to be rescued by Jesus. Jesus then says to Peter, with tenderness as well as with challenge, “O you of little faith.” Jesus accepted the fragile and limited faith of Peter and the other disciples and loved them uncondi-tionally. The early church identified with Peter, as people with a “little” faith. Their faith was not fully mature, or as extraordinary as others’ faith might seem to be. But they knew that their faith, however small or imperfect, was real and true. We might remember that our own “little” faith is cherished by God. God loves us as we are, and always seeks to form us toward a fully mature Christian life of faith

SAINT TERESA BENEDICTA OF THE CROSS (EDITH STEIN) (1891-1942) August 9 “Come,” Edith gently whispered, taking her sis-ter Rosa’s hand, “let us go for our people!” These were Edith Stein’s last words as the Na-zis, enraged at the Dutch bishops’ condemnation of their genocide, took into custody all Catholic converts from Judaism. Born Jewish, but non-practicing from her teens, Edith’s search for truth led to a doctorate in philosophy, a brilliant career as professor and author and, finally, to the Autobiography of Saint Teresa of Ávila, which she read in one sitting, then declared, “That is the Truth!” Baptized on January 1, 1922, observed then as the feast of Jesus’ initia-tion into the covenant of Abraham, confirmed on February 2, the feast of Jesus’ Presentation in the Temple, Edith entered the cloistered Car-melites in Cologne, transferring to a convent in Holland when she realized that, because of the Nazi persecution of the Jews, her presence could imperil the safety of the other nuns. She died in the gas chambers of Auschwitz as a daughter of Israel and of the Church. eter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch

OUR DEEPEST NEEDS The word of God serves up a tremendous feast for us today. Isaiah beckons all who hunger & thirst to come to the Lord for satis-faction. The psalmist cries out, “The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs” (Psalm 145:16). Saint Paul tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Finally, in the Gospel, we hear the story of the miraculous feeding of over five thou-sand people from a mere five loaves & two fish. Most of us have our material needs met on a day-to-day basis. These scriptures, nev-ertheless, have much to say to the contempo-rary believer. We must ask ourselves, “Where are my deepest hungers? Where are my thirsts?” After material needs are satisfied &, in some cases, over-satisfied, many people still experience a deep longing for spiritual balance & well-being. As the loaves & fish are multiplied in today’s Gospel, perhaps our prayer can be a longing for the satisfaction of the deepest needs that only God can fill. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME How do we encounter God in the midst of the trials and storms of our lives? Our readings help us reflect upon God’s presence with us in difficult times. We hear of the prophet Eli-jah, who had just boldly demonstrated God’s power, and is now terrified as he flees for his life, desperately seeking God’s presence. We hear of Peter, after briefly walking on water during the storm, sinking fast as fear over-whelms him. At times our fears, sadness, or fatigue might severely test even our strongest desires to care for others and to serve God. Perhaps these are the moments when, as we encounter our weakness, we may open our-selves more deeply to God’s strength. Often with difficulty, and perhaps over a lifetime, we can learn to depend on God, who always extends a loving hand toward us, especially during the storms of our lives. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
