PARISH PLAN FOR RE-OPENING FOR THE CELEBRATION OF PUBLIC MASSES

Approximate Seating Capacity of the St. Lawrence Church? 650 at 25% 163 Approximate Seating Capacity of the St. Luke Church? 440 at 25% 110 I know we are all excited about the re-opening of our churches for public Mass this coming week.

The On-Line Parish Bulletin this week will be dedicated to our preparation. Please remember that the obligation to attend Mass has been suspended. Our Live Stream Masses will continue to remain a viable option for parishioners. Further, parishioners who have watched Mass at home on Sunday can come to church later to receive the Eucharist. (More about that below).

Importance of Patience and Christian Love and on being smart:

First of all, please be patient with our volunteers and with each other. The church experience will be different for all of us. Please be sensitive to each other’s feelings, and be patient and cooperative with ushers and volunteers. For example, you may not be able to sit in your ‘usual’ spot. Also, please be smart. We need to listen to the medical experts who tell us that if you are

otherwise vulnerable to illness because of age or a health condition, then it is smart to stay home at this time. Do not come to church if you have a fever, cough, or a cold. It is an act of charity to stay home so you or others do not become ill. When appropriate, a Priest, Deacon or Eucharistic

Minister can visit you at home if you cannot attend Mass.

Please wear a mask, and as you enter please use the hand sanitizer that is near the door. At St. Lawrence, please enter only from the main doors in the front of the Church, along the White Horse Pike. At St. Luke, you will enter the door we always use, but please enter the one on the

extreme right. At St. Luke you will also enter the body of the Church using the extreme right door leading from the vestibule to the church. Volunteers will help guide parishioners to an appropriate seat in church. Please remember the 6-foot social distancing requirement as you enter and while you are in

Church. A Volunteer will be counting as people enter the church, to make certain we do not exceed 25% of capacity.

When the church reaches 25% capacity the Mass Coordinator will respectfully explain that to best ensure the health of parishioners, and to be in compliance with government guidelines, the allowable safe capacity has been reached. A Mass schedule of the other Masses that day and our weekday schedule will be provided to parishioners and a reminder that Masses are live streamed and that at this time Bishop Sullivan has dispensed the faithful from the obligation to attend

Sunday Mass. Further, parishioners will be told that arrangements can be made for one of the

priests to visit their home and bring the Eucharist to them.

Seating of Parishioners

Once you enter the body of the Church, an usher will greet you, and direct you to another

volunteer who will seat you in an appropriate seat. Every other pew will be blocked off, and to allow for proper social distancing, only a few people will be allowed to sit in each pew. Family members may sit together. Collection Baskets

There will not be an offertory procession, and ushers will not pass the basket for donations as we normally do. There will be baskets in each church for you to place your donation. We continue to encourage families to think about on-line giving. Many have chosen this option since the beginning of the pandemic. Distribution of Holy Communion

At both churches, ushers will guide parishioners to receive Holy Communion one section at a time, one row at a time, one person at a time. Painter’s tape will be placed in aisles to indicate proper and safe social distancing. Six (6)-foot distancing will be marked off for those exiting pews and awaiting their turn to approach the priest, deacon, or EM.

Parishioners who chose to receive on the tongue will be instructed to receive from the priest, and will be asked to wait until the end of line.

Here is a big change. After you receive Holy Communion you will be asked to exit Church. (I know, I have been preaching against this for four years). Please exit quietly and offer a prayer of thanksgiving as you exit. Ushers will be stationed at strategic points to make certain parishioners exit at that time. In St. Lawrence, please exit only from the side doors near the sanctuary. In St. Luke, keep to the right as you exit the body of the church and as you exit outside. Live Streaming

Live Streaming of Masses will continue for those parishioners who cannot or who chose not to attend public Mass. The Live Stream Mass is from St. Lawrence Church on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday mornings at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. (Spanish Mass).

Mass Schedule

The Parish Mass schedule for the most part remains the same: St. Luke Church: Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. St. Lawrence Church: 5:00 p.m. on Saturday; 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Spanish Mass on Sunday. (Note that the Spanish Mass was

moved to start one half hour later to allow us to properly clean the church after the 9:30 a.m. Mass). Flexibility in Planning

Please be patient, as you know, planning during this time has been fluid. Changes from the state

and the diocese have come often and very quickly. Please check our web page, the pastor’s constant contact daily message, and other parish social media platforms for updates. Sacrament of Reconciliation

Painter’s tape will mark appropriate waiting distance for the sacrament. The parish will change

the time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday. On Saturday, the Sacrament will be

available in St. Luke Church, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. This change allows for better control of a crowd awaiting the sacrament while others enter for the afternoon Mass. In St. Lawrence Church, Reconciliation is available weekdays from 6:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. The

Reconciliation Rooms will be configured to allow for proper social distancing between priest and

penitent. Painter’s tape will also mark appropriate spacing for those in line.

Page 5: The Most Holy Trinity Santísima TrinidadSantísima Trinidad 7 de Junio de 2020 . From the Pastor’s Desk PARISH PLAN FOR RE-OPENING FOR THE CELEBRATION OF PUBLIC MASSES Approximate

Parish News Grace and Eternal Life:

Moses is a man after our own hearts, for haven’t we all dealt with more than our share of stiff-necked people? Indeed, haven’t we all gotten a little stiff-necked ourselves at times? Complaining . . . impatient . . . quick to anger. How lucky for Moses—how lucky for all of us—that God is exactly the opposite! And we don’t even have to guess about it. The Lord tells us so directly. Accordingly, Moses does what we all need to do. Even with the tablets in hand, he bows down and asks for God’s forgiveness and grace. Encouraging us to live together in peace—and in God’s favor—the Apostle Paul knows all about this grace, joyfully invoking Christ’s grace on us along with God’s love and the Holy Spirit’s. “Rejoice,” he says. And when it comes to rejoicing, John offers us the gladdest words of all: the assurance of eternal life through Jesus.

Prayer for Priestly Vocations: Lord Jesus, we ask you to bless the Diocese of Camden with an increase in vocations to the priesthood. We pray that young men from our parishes and families will hear your call and be both generous and courageous in their response. May more young men serve you as priests who teach the faith, preach the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments and make you present among us through their ministry. Encourage them to embrace the joy-filled and fulfilling life of a diocesan priest. May parents support priestly vocations in their families by prayer and good example. We entrust these prayers through Mary Immaculate, our patroness, hopeful that you will bless our diocese with more priest in the near future, who live and reign forever and ever. AMEN.
