Presidents Report

Our weekend for the gnomes at Floriade was last weekend a combination of QHS SRC InteractClub, Rotaract Club of Brindabella and ourselves managed with the Rotary Club of Canberra Eastsupervisors to sell over 600 gnomes. From Interact - Nicole, Maddie, Ty, Hayley, Ben, andRochelle (some doing more than one session), from Rotaract Miriam and Andrew, and from our

Club -Joan, Tim, Bly, Doug, Bill, Trent and I (again some doing more than one session). A fewspots of rain on Sunday did not deter those buying or painting gnomes (they got under the tables,umbrellas or joined us under the tent)! Lola (exchange student who will be with Natalie andAndrew later in the year) and Hannah (another exchange student) also joined us for a couple ofhours. So thanks to all who put in the hard work to make it a success.

Please remember that if you added yourself to any of our rosters that you must let me, Kristin,know if you need to change or you cant come. Saturday afternoon was difficult because we onlyhad 5, not the 8 who had committed to the roster, no one got lunch breaks and it took until 5pmto finish all the tasks. We have worked out how many is appropriate for each shift and we muststart with that.

I will be receiving a revised roster for the rest of Floriade which I will send out when I receive it.Glenys (Natalies Mum) gallantly did the whole day selling our Polio tickets at Riverside Plaza withNatalie supplying relief. I hope Natalie will be feeling much better after this week.

Last weeks meeting was Footy Colours Day many teams and codes were represented. Pauland and Sue visited us from Jerra we all enjoyed the activities Natalie had planned and thepizzas! We raised $101 on the night.

This week our guest speaker is Janet Werner from the National Stroke Foundation I am sure shegive us some very worthwhile if not lifesaving information.

On Thursday night Laura Sparkes (QHS SRC Interact Club) who won the 4 Way SpeakingCompetition at QHS will be competing against other Canberra speakers at the Rotary Club ofNorth Canberras meeting at the Yowani Country Club at 6 for 6.15pm. Good luck Laura. Bly willbe an adjudicator and Tim and Michael will go also.

On Thursday night also some of us will also be representing our Club at the Queanbeyan: city ofchampions event .

This weekend the QHS SRC Interact Club is holding a BBQ on Saturday 28 September as part ofthe 175th Birthday Celebrations and the following weekend at Masters Hardware (Airport) onMonday 7 October. If any of our Rotarians can assist please let me or Michael Guilfoyle know.

Lastly is the Queanbeyan Relay for Lifes second launch this coming Saturday at Riverside plazaThank you Bly and Joan who will be representing us on the day!
