Jaguar Land Rover’s three vehicle

production output 8% over the previous year
to 544,401. Jaguar Land Rover vehicles account
for five of the top ten British best-sellers
globally.
The latest figures further demonstrate the
dramatic transformation undergone by Jaguar
Land Rover, which has increased production
from its British plants by more than 240% since
2009, when total annual production stood at
158,000 units.

JAGUAR LAND ROVER IS BRITAIN’S BIGGEST CAR
MANUFACTURER FOR A SECOND YEAR
“Jaguar Land Rover has once again shown that investment in new models, skills and advanced technology are critically
Important to ensure Britain has a thriving automotive industry - even in the face of current uncertainty. To be the
UK’s largest automotive business once again is a tremendous achievement. We are proud to call ourselves a British
company and are committed to ensuring manufacturing remains the backbone of the British economy.”
Andy Goss Jaguar Land Rover Global Sales Director
The company’s record year was driven by its unrelenting investment plan, with 15 all-new and significantly enhanced models hitting
the market. The Jaguar F-PACE - the brand’s highest-volume model - propelled Jaguar production forward by 67%, while the Range
Rover Evoque, regained the position of Land Rover’s highest-volume car following the introduction of the Convertible.
Since 2010 Jaguar Land Rover has invested close to £4billion in its four British manufacturing plants, which together produce ten
model lines and the company’s advanced Ingenium diesel engines. This investment includes the installation of Europe’s largest
aluminium body shop, two new state-of-the-art press lines and significant technology upgrades across all assembly lines. To support
this considerable expansion, the company’s manufacturing headcount has grown from 7,700 in 2010 to more than 19,000 today,
demonstrating its commitment to job creation.
With more than £3billion committed to product creation this fiscal year, Jaguar Land Rover has no plans to slow down, creating
yet more exciting products to delight customers around the world.

Annual Jaguar Club Spring Dust Off takes off!
What a great start it was to the 2017 season! The sun finally came out after several days of cloudy, rainy, dank weather which was
threatening to postpone the first part of the event. Fortune was on our side whereby a clear morning dawned which prompted the
attendees to arrive at the American Air Power Museum by 11am. Once everyone was present, we hopped into our vehicles and
were escorted onto the active airport tarmac towards the museum hangar.
The museum staff guided the cars, one by one, to pose in front of a Wort Hog fighter plane (known as a tank buster) for a
souvenir photo and then staged the cars for display. It wasn’t a busy day for the museum, but local spectators were given a special
bonus where they were able to admire our cars along with the rest of the museum.
As we entered the hangar, we were greeted by a familiar smell of oil and well maintained machinery. Some airplanes are notorious
for having natural leak oil leaks the same as some of our Jaguars do. Members then gathered in the Canteen for some coffee, bagels
and donuts provided by the club before exploring the museum.
After everyone had their fill, we were summoned into the
Briefing Room where three of the volunteer museum docents
divided us up into smaller groups and took them for a tour of
the museum hangar and outdoor display of planes. The guides
were all retired military personnel and were quite familiar with
the air craft and history of World War II. They even recounted
some of their own personal involvement in the War which
made the tour even more special. There was an aircraft
simulator where you could fly a virtual plane that some
members tried their hand at. After the guided tour portion
concluded, some Club members gathered out by the cars,
catching up on what’s new, while others explored the indoor
display of planes, historical newspapers, and mockup of a B-17
fuselage with video and sound displays of what it was like to be
a gunner crewmen. When you reflect on the at the aircraft our
airmen flew in and the conditions they were subject to during WW II, it gives you an immense feeling of awe and respect for what
they did to preserve our freedom and help to defeat the enemy. Try and imagine what it was like to be flying at 40.000 feet in the
(Continued on page 5)
air, -40 degrees below zero with open windows, stuck in a bare bones air craft with only the aircraft frame and thin aluminum
sheeting to protect you while the enemy is closing in on you.
Your only recourse was to man your machine gun to try and
protect your plane and pray - these were very brand men indeed.
The extensive tour certainly helped with working up our
appetites for the second half of the Spring Dust Off which was a
late lunch at the Harbor Mist Restaurant in Cold Spring Harbor.
Driving directions were handed out to the Club members for a
short 30 minute rally which traveled along some scenic roads to
arrive at the restaurant. The restaurant provided a reserved
parking lot exclusively for the Club member’s vehicles. As we were parking our Jags, a passerby stopped over and asked if anyone
was interested in buying a set of Jaguar wheels that he had in storage.
Once we were seated inside the restaurant, much applause was given to Mike Carroll for coming up with the idea to visit the Air
Power Museum and
Quentin Nieman for
suggesting the Harbor Mist

May 21st at 10am. This is not another aircraft-themed
event, because the focus is on cars and motorcycles
from 1900 to 1982. It is only being hosted by the

2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR convertible: Road-tripping in a 575-hp Brit missile
195-mph drop-top Jag is docile and domesticated, until you hit the accelerator
Originally posted on March 29, 2017 by Jay Ramey at http://autoweek.com/
Pick your flavor of Jaguar F-Type convertible: All but a diesel version is on the menu at this point -- and the seventh and latest trim
level of the ragtop Jaguar is built in secret to control all others. One F-Type to rule them all.
Ruling is hard work, but the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 under that forward-tilting hood does the job with 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of
torque. The SVR model pairs the power with an eight-speed QuickShift automatic transmission that sends thrust to all four wheels.
Drivers can shift via paddles or the familiar up/down gearshift motions, with Jaguar promising 0-60 sprints of just 3.5 seconds. A
manual transmission would have made the car slower, but a more plausible explanation for its absence is that it's just not that kind
of car despite the raw power. Top speed is 195 mph, so drivers of the SVR are better off keeping both hands on the steering wheel
-- sound advice for a car that, on paper, eclipses the Ferrari F40 in almost every performance metric.
Yes, it has come to this: A convertible Jag with an automatic and SiriusXM tuned to the Yacht Rock station can more than hold its
own against the demigods of not just yesteryear, but almost yesterday. And it can do so while returning a combined 18 mpg, at
least when not driven in anger (we drove it in anger).
Of course, the SVR's engine is only half the formula. As with the F-Type SVR coupe, Jaguar beefed up the suspension with
redesigned dampers and antiroll bars while adding revised front and rear fascias that are friendly to airflow at speeds approaching
200 mph. This includes a carbon-fiber active rear spoiler that deploys above 70 mph, as well as a flat underfloor and a rear diffuser.
The convertible rides on 20-inch wheels wearing Pirelli P Zero tires, which partially obscure the massive brakes: The SVR wears
front and rear discs nearly 15 inches in diameter, but those who require even greater stopping power can check the box for the
optional Carbon Ceramic Matrix brake system.
(Continued on page 9)
The execution
Jaguar handed us the keys the F-Type SVR in north Georgia, along with some indirect driving directions to the Jacksonville, Florida,
area; we were instructed to be there just before dinner with plenty of time to spare. There's no Autobahn in Georgia, but we
wanted dinner, and the SVR proved the fastest way to get to Florida without the bouquet of scents modern air travel offers.
First things first: The SVR is extraordinarily quick in a straight line, and it's not shy about letting other traffic know it's in a hurry.
The four tailpipes belt out a roar from the titanium exhaust system that can not only part traffic, it also leaves everyone with the
impression a giant robotic lion from a Michael Bay film just passed. The wail of the exhaust is similar to an emergency vehicle siren:
It's not that loud from inside because it's pointed at other cars. With the convertible top up, the stiff chassis and absence of road
noise could make you forget it's a drop-top F-Type at all. That's perhaps the strongest lasting impression this supercar leaves, aside
from the positively rude exhaust system that perpetually barks at other cars.
The route to Florida is not a straight line, and in the twisties, the Jag offers surefooted grip with a touch of comfort-oriented
steering numbness that invites comparisons to heavier German sports cars. In fact, the car feels heavier than it is on paper, but it's
in character -- this is, after all, a very powerful luxury convertible that can play at the track when called upon.
The Verdict
The SVR is 25 hp stronger and some $20,000 pricier than the next fastest F-Type model -- the F-Type R -- but the bump in
equipment (and sound) is enough to warrant the extra cash for those who want the fastest cat short of an XJ220. The F-Type is
tame enough for everyday use; its well-muted interior and civilized road manners result in a car happy to run to the supermarket
and do other boring things at speeds below 195 mph.
Jaguar has struck a good balance of everyday usability and fighter-jet levels of fun in this convertible, critical for its audience: Jaguar
knows full well that most F-Type SVR convertibles will be driven conservatively, mostly between golf courses. Here's hoping those
lucky owners squeeze a track day in occasionally, too.

British cars in watercolor: An artist's gallery opens on the Web
FEBRUARY 16, 2016
ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA - If you like British cars, and insist on good art, watercolor artist George Ellis has lots of fine art prints to choose from. Whether your interest is in MGs, Jaguars, Austin-Healeys, or other British cars, Mr. Ellis offers a growing list of prints featuring the classics.
Mr. Ellis is not new to painting cars; he's been painting for 15 years. What's new is that he is now offering Open Edition and Limited Edition prints of his work at his Web site, www.GeorgeEllis.com. The prints are produced to the highest standards.
At the George Ellis Gallery online, visitors are greeted by a light green SS-100 Jaguar in a beach scene. Clicking the first of the links at the left of the screen, one reads "About the Art," which offers a brief synopsis of the artist, the art, the prints, and how to order prints through the site.
The prints come in a variety of sizes: most are 11x14 inches, some are larger (up to 16x20 inches), and some are available as 5x7 inch prints. They're produced with archival inks on watercolor-type paper to hold their true colors well over time. It's expensive to make prints this way, but fine art is meant to last indefinitely.
Mr. Ellis's art looks attractive on the walls of any home, garage, shop, office, and of course "mancaves." Limited Edition prints in particular represent an investment in art that can be expected to gain in value over the years.
To visit the George Ellis Gallery online, go to www.GeorgeEllis.com. The site accepts major credit cards and PayPal, and it offers "old school" customers the low-tech option of printing out a paper order form. If you have questions or would like to leave a comment, use the Contact form in the links list. The Gallery also accepts commissions; e-mail inquiries to [email protected] or call the Gallery at 631-757-3722 during business hours for details.

Oakbourne Mansion, located in the heart of Westtown
Township, is a large Victorian building that originated as a
residence in the late 19th Century. It was built by Mr. And Mrs.
John Hulme, who used it as a summer home for several years. In
1882, Mr. and Mrs. James Smith purchased the Mansion and
surrounding grounds. They enlarged the building and
developed the grounds into an arboretum and horse breeding
operation. After Mrs. Smith’s death in 1893, the property was
willed to the Philadelphia Protestant Episcopal City Mission. At
this time, it was used as a convalescent home for women. The
Westtown Township purchased the Mansion and surrounding
grounds some seventy years later.
The Mansion is currently owned and operated by the Westtown
Township for public meetings, community activities and private
fulltime living quarters for the groundskeeper. A water tower of
unusual architectural character is located approximately 200
feet to the southwest of the Mansion. Though the tower is no
longer used for water storage, it remains as a well-preserved
example of historic design and construction techniques.
