THE COASTAL ARCADIAN was not the result of a long time dream; nor was it a 'concept' that had been in the making for years ... it just HAPPENED!
Owner Sue Osborne was actually considering selling her major bead store, OC Beads -- then located at Ocean Ranch 2 in Laguna Niguel -- and maybe even slowing down to semi-retirement until she came across a plot of real estate for lease in downtown Dana Point, CA . Not only was it a lovely new setting for OC BEADS, but, as luck would have it, also had room for two additional businesses.
The 9000 sq.ft. lot was quickly transformed from an abandoned landscape nursery into a trilogy of artistic shops, each offering a selection of fine quality, highly unique products. Now, amidst patios, gardens and waterworks is a setting reminiscent of a former era, when times appeared gentler and more personal (i.e., "Arcadian").
The trilogy of businesses at The Coastal Arcadian are:
OC BEADS is considered to be Southern California's "Premier 21st Century Bead Store." The collection features a large selection of designer quality beads, findings and materials and is made possible by over 20 years of experience in the field. In addition to the incredible variation of products, OC BEADS offers classes, jewelry repair and custom designed jewelry for any occasion.
THE SHED Fine Art Gallery, with its bright, natural light, prides itself in exhibiting a changing selection of contemporary art of exceptional quality by distinguished artists. The facility is also a wonderful venue for small, intimate events, while the surrounding grounds can be made available for larger functions. Well-known Palm Springs artist Michael Ruffini is Gallery Director for THE SHED. Artists' reception for the first 2013 show "ARRIVAL" will be Feb 9, 2013 from 4-8pm.
THE COOP, a small 'mercantile store', offers a varied selection of exclusively American made products, with a 'Vermont Country Store' feel. Beautiful pottery; diverse original art; unique custom note cards; hand knit scarves and tote bags; spices, oils, and mustards; and even custom kitchen island tables that are a piece of art unto themselves. THE COOP is intent on offering unusual, distinctive products for its discerning customers.
The Coastal Arcadian will offer various monthly events, along with monthly exhibitions in THE SHED Fine Art Gallery. An Events Calendar will be posted on the web and new event suggestions are always welcome.
Sue hopes to establish a new destination point for Dana Point ... a resting spot from the daily grind of our fast, impersonal, always-connected life styles.
