Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon fon\;k nnkfr fou;e November 2014 Under the guidance of the Chairperson , Dr.( Mrs.) Amita Chauhan ,Taksheel Buddhadeo, a class 3 student of Amity International School , Sector 46, Gur- gaon, was awarded the ‘ National Child award for Exceptional Achievement 2014’ by President Mukherjee. He was awarded for being an all rounder. A talented vocalist and a skilled musician , Taksheel has been learning Indian classical music , harmonium and Tabla since the age of three. He has several accolades in the field of music, chess, sketching, folk dance and environment conservation. Taksheel has made an entry in the India Book of Records for being the youngest student to have participated in over 200 performances on All India Radio. He has hosted live as well as pre recorded programmes including ‘Chhote Ustaad’ and ‘ Galli Galli Sim Sim’ on AIR, and on several private FM stations. Being a true Amitian ,he encourages people to conserve environ- ment and adopt eco friendly ways through his programmes. The school Principal , Mrs. Arti Chopra congratulated Taksheel for such a great achievement . In an effort to build global leaders who can shape a world that is built on the foundation of peace and progress, Amity Group of Schools in association with AERC organized a three days conference on Model United nations from 13 th November to 15 th November held at Amity University Noida. A big delegation of 48 students participated in the event from Amity International School, sector-46 Gurgaon. The participants represented Republic of Korea, SriLanka, Venezuela,Pakistan, Turkey, Chad, Philippines, Nepal, Peru, AIPPM and IWC. However two students Angad Singh and Kishore Wasan from our school served as Rapporteur in IWC and General Assembly. High commendation award was won by Vaishali Tikoo,in AiPPM, Aditya Tripathi in UNHRC, and Avnish Roperia in ECOSOC.Special Mention award was won by Manasvi Ahuja, Shryans Goyal in Historical General assembly, Shikher Aggarwal in IAEA and Rudraksh Lakra In HGA. “Vibrant Kaleidoscope -A galaxy of festivals” - Class III Presentation

To imbibe the values, culture, traditions and rituals of our festivals we have inte-grated the tradition with our existing curriculum to provide qualitative and multi-faceted educational experience to our students. In the same series a class presen-tation was given by the students of class III on the theme “Vibrant Kaleidoscope -A galaxy of festivals”. Principal Ms. Arti Chopra welcomed parents for the presen-tation and inaugurated the event with lighting of the lamp of knowledge. The event was initiated with a Krishna Bhajan sung by the National Child Award win-ner Takhsheel Buddhadeo from Class III G. Students of class III presented a colourful vibrant show which had the shades and joy of different festivals like Diwali, Durga Puja, Id, Christmas, Onam and so on. Parents were so delighted to see their loved ones performing on the stage and

everyone went back home with cherishable memories.

Amity International School-46 always believes in nurturing excellence in education through human values and our heritage. A class presentation was given by the stu-dents of class IV on the topic was ‘School: A Shrine of Values’. Its primary aim was to showcase the values learnt by children in school. We believe that our children guided with correct values are ambassadors of bringing about a positive change in our society. The show was initiated by a musical instrumental presentation by students of class

IV,which was followed by a colourful vibrant show depicting the various values they

learn in school i.e. respecting elders, sharing, good & healthy leaving, patriotism, sensitivity towards wild life and

environment.

Amity46 Girls Basketball Team won the match against Path-ways on 5Nov,scoring 29/13 Shagun Taneja of IX G

took part in All India Yoga Championship held on November 01 ,2014 and Won Silver Medal.

Amity Gurgaon 46 Cricket Team lifted The Shriram Championship Trophy for third consecu-tive year, defeating Heri-tage School Gurgaon.

At National level Tennis Tourna-ment Vriti Panwar of class VIII got 1st position and has also won district and state (SHFI) Tennis Tournament.

Fun Filled Adventure camp Adventure activities not only sharpen a child's minds, but also make them physically and psychologically more strong and confident. Keeping in association with ‘Rocksport’ the school organized an adventure camp for students of classes I to V stu-dents from 5th November to 11th November 2014 in the school premises. A host of fun filled activities were held during the camp including Burma Bridge, Flying Fox, Tarzan Swing, Hamster Wheel, Zorbing, Commando Net, Commando Crawl, Hop Scotch, Wall Climbing, Tent Pitching, Vertical Ladder, Tug of War etc. The idea was to inculcate leadership qualities and self discipline amongst students and make them confi-dent and self-reliant.

Bal Rang Mela for young Amitians Under the able guidance of the Chairperson Dr. (Mrs) Amita Chauhan , the school organized a fun filled Bal Rang Mela on Saturday 15th November, 2014 as an extension of Children’s Day, in the memory of First PM of India, Late Shri PanditJawaharLal Nehru. On Saturday 15th November, 2014, fun, fiesta and frolic unveiled at the lush green lawns of the school. The high-lights of the event were Buggy Ride, Monkey charmer, Book Fair, Magic show, Puppet show ,Face painting ,swings & rides. A ramp walk for the mothers was also organized. The theme was Retro. Mothers enthusiastically participated in the ramp walk and presented a commendable show. In another competition children from 6-10 years of age par-ticipated in a painting competition in different categories. Apart from this, indigenously designed craft items by amity students and teachers were also put on for sale, the fun area with swings, slides and rides was the main attraction for kids. The activities also helped the parents to revive the memories of their golden period of life too through some traditional games like kabaddi, pittogram etc.. The fete was a successful show and it was a day full of fun for the grandparents, parents, students and the staff as well.

Amitians win the Quiz Championship

‘Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.’ The school participated in the D.K. Quiz held in the school campus. Over 130 students participated in the quiz. All the participating students put in their best efforts to qualify for the next round. The 12 students got shortlisted for the final round and won cash prizes and books as a reward along with certificate of merit. The overall experience was enriching for the participants. The school Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra appreciated the efforts made by the participants and motivated them to work hard and bring laurels to the school.

SHRI BALJIT SINGH JI SHASTRI TROPHY ECOM FORUM, 2014-15

It was organized on 11.11.14 at AIS Saket. Students of class XI from 26 schools all over the NCR participated in the symposium. Four students represented our school. Aditya Tripathi and Bhawaan Mathur partici-pated in economics symposium as speaker and interjector respectively. Natasha Bhattacharya and Yatin Gupta participated in commerce sympo-sium as speaker and interjector respectively. Speakers had to support their presentations with PPT or Prezi. Our speakers choose the topics-‘Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana- an unreal-istic dream or potential reality’ and ‘E-commerce wars- Survival of the fittest or survival of the richest’.

Blood Pressure Health Camp—Youth Power The AdventAge (youth power team) conducted a BP Health Camp on November 5, 2014 in collaboration with the Interact Club of AIS Sec 46 and Dr. Ashish Yadav who selflessly devoted time for the cause. This camp was organized at the Sanskriti Society Sec 43, Gurgaon. Dr. Yadav shared how to lead a better life with a healthy heart. Dr. Yadav shared a cleared mantra that leading a healthy lifestyle in a limited and controlled way is the best way for a healthy heart and thus a good Blood Pressure levels. The Interact teams made beautiful Bows and Flowers for the residents. The residents also lauded the vision of the Principal AIS Sec 46 and the Management of the Amity Institutes to conduct such a wonderful and caring activity for the people during such busy times.

Leadership Camp The Students of class XI went for an Adventure Camp to Manesar on 10th and 11thNovember, 2014 accompanied by their teachers. The children enjoyed a series of activities like Rappelling, ie climbing down a cliff face using a rope; Mountain Climbing, ie. Using hand and foot holds to climb a high hill; Rifle Shooting and an extensive Obstacle course with Net climbing and crossing, Burma Bridge, hurdles, etc. Following this, the Administration of the camp had set up army style canvas tents for the students to relax in, for them to experience what camping feels like.

The Chronicler— AIS 46 twitters... TRIP TO BOTANIX NATURE RESORT

Amity International School sector 46 Gurgaon had organized an educational excursion to Botanix Nature Resort for the students of class XII on Nov.27,2014. It was a fun filled day for all the children where they were engaged in various activities like moving across the Burma Bridge , net climbing ,camel and bullock cart rides along with trekking on the mountainous terrain which was really thrilling and adventurous. The green surround-ings, delicious food, serene ambience was encapsulating. The children were accompa-nied by their teachers who really made great endeavours to make the day grand for them. . The level of excitement and enthusiasm reached brimming when he children danced on the enthralling songs played for them . The children returned back with cher-ishable memories for years to come .

Educational Trip: Class IX In an endeavour to peep into the glorious past of our civilization, an educational trip was organized by AIS-46 for a group of 182 students of class IX along with their teachers to the prestigious ‘National Museum’, ‘National Crafts Museum’ and ‘The National Museum of Natural History’ on November29,2014.

The students were astounded to see the rich ivory craftwork and indeed explored the vivid hues of Indian heritage.

An interactive workshop on different health and social issues of adolescents was conducted at AIS-46. The guest Speaker Dr. Meenakshi (Head of gynecology department, Max Hospital Gurgaon) spoke on different issues. Health and hygiene, Importance of balanced diet in growing age, were dis-cussed in the workshop. The initiative was appreciated by the students and they wish to attend similar workshops in future as well.

A talk on Air force as career was organized by Amity Career and Guidance cell in AIS 45 Gurgaon for students of classes XI and XII addressed by Wing commander Taruna. The Session commenced with a video on life of Indian Air force and a power point presentation on how to enroll in the Air force and the various in courses offered in it. She conveyed that it is the best children’s day gift to students as this has enlightened the young mind for a very new career option.

On the 28th November 2014, a career counseling ses-sion was taken by Principal Ms.Arti Chopra for Class X to make the children aware as to how to choose the right career option. Students brought forward their doubts and queries regarding their choice of career. She elaborated on the details and requirements in various fields and highlighted the importance of different fields and

the need for each student to have thorough knowledge of it. It was a thoroughly knowledgeable and enjoyable experience for the students. Students are looking forward for more such sessions.

ORIENTATION FOR CLASS XII BOARDS

Wednesday, November 19th 2014, an Orientation was organized for the parents who have their wards studying

in class XII, which was addressed by the Principal Arti chopra in which parents were told about the career op-

tions that are available after class XII. During the session parents were also told about how they can help their

children to reduce their stress before their board examination. A panel of subject teachers also addressed the

parents where the teachers gave useful tips to the par-

ents related with their subjects, apart from the subjective

knowledge school counselors guided the parents on how

to motivate the children and develop healthy habits in

them.

Amity International School Sec-46 Gurgaon hosted the Inter School Robotics Championship ROBOTRONICS – 2014 on November 26, 2014. The event commenced with the welcome of the esteemed Guest, Ms. Divya Chauhan , Chair-person Amity School of Fine Arts and the Chief guests, Dr. Pulak M. Pandey , associate Professor at IIT Delhi , Prof. S.M.K Rahman ,IIT Delhi by the school Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra .The honourable judges, Mr. Girish Chandra Verma , and Mr. Varun Sharma both pursuing Phd. from IIT Delhi assessed the skills and talents of the participants. Teams from schools all over Gurgaon participated enthusiastically in the construction of their robots. The fervor and the level of excitement reached its pinnacle towards the closing ceremony which was more enhanced by an enthralling gadget dance performance Roboculture by the students. In juniors category Amity International School, Noida bagged the first and the second prize and Amity International School,Sector-46,Gurgaon was adjudged the third best in the competition. In seniors category Manav Rachna Inter-national School bagged the first prize followed by Amity International School Pushp Vihar and Manav Rachna Farida-bad .Third prize was bagged by Amity International School, Sector-46, Gurgaon.The programme culminated with the prize distribution ceremony by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Divya Chauhan and the Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra.

VIVO WORKSHOP

"Safety First" is "Safety Always." First Aid Workshop for Grade IX -XI

Realizing that a lot of lives can be saved if a person is given help before the medical help arrives, a First Aid workshop was organised by VIVO health care group at Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon for the students. The workshop equipped the students with the skill to take care of their near and dear ones and anyone else requiring medical assisstance. They were made aware of maintaining their calm and assessing life threatening situations so that they could handle small causalities. They emphasized Do's and Don'ts because improper way of providing First-Aid aggravates the situation. A number of situations were dis-cussed, demonstrated, action steps explained involving students were taken up e.g. Fracture, Burn, Nose Bleeding, heart attack etc. Students thanked their Honourable Chairperson Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan and the School Principal, Mrs. Arti Chopra for giving them the opportunity to attend the informative workshop which focused on managing stressful situations.

Class I and II at Moon Watch Space Workshop

An Italian delegation was welcomed by the Principal with a traditional tilak ceremony on 7th Nov,2014 comprising 18 delegates along with two teachers Ms Olga Olivieri and Ms. Laura Perrotta . As per the schedule they were taken to the local market for shopping and paid a visit to fa-mous historical places of Delhi like Qutub Minar, Red Fort , Jama –Masjid and Humayun’s Tomb , Raj Ghat, Teen Murti Bhawan and Delhi Haat which was a compelling experience as the students got to know about the lifestyle of our first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and a little about Indian history too. They attended AIMUN 2014 and presented a cultural fiesta in the school. Their visit was a great success and they left for their country having unforgettable memories.

Italian Students Exchange Program

The students participated in World Scholar’s Cup ,Tournament of champi-ons. The contestants participated in the competition which consisted of four major events – Scholar’s Challenge, Collaborative Writing, Team Debate and the Scholar’s Bowl. The competition was very high between over 50 countries comprising of 500

students. Our students brought laurels to the school by winning 7 medals. In

junior category Manasvi Ahuja- received silver medal for 16th place in debate

and further Manasvi, Shubhangi and Satvika- were honored with Team

medal in debate. In senior category Prisha Singh- was the Top Scorer per

school and received Gold medal while Bhavika Anand- received gold medal

for getting First place in writing.
