To achieve success through hard- work, to be motivated enough to realize your potential and work beyond it to achieve success, that is the toughest chal- lenge of all and the highly committed staff and students of Amity have been achieving this feat year after year. Amitians must believe in themselves and in their lofty goals. They must make big plans, aim even higher and work tirelessly to always remain at the pinnacle of their achievements. I have complete faith in their inherent potential to revolutionalise the meaning of suc- cess and excellence. December 2013 Academics: Project Based Learning was taken up as a new initiative towards constructive learn- ing in the classrooms. British Council activities on International issues were integrated into the curriculum. Co-curricular : Sports Day was held on 20th Dec. to inculcate team spirit and love for sports Children enjoyed the Winter Carnival . National and International Events : World Scholar’s Regional round took place at AIS Noida. Accolades : Musckaan Chauhan won 3 Golds, Radhika Singhal of VII won 3 Golds, Mallika Chauhan of IV won 2 Bronze and Karan Yadav of IV won 1 Gold and 2 Silver medals at 48th State Roller Skating Championship held at Rohtak The young Amitians in the Junior cate- gory bagged the 3 rd prize in the ‘Ignited Minds’ – an Annual Theatre Fest held at AIS-PV. Young Amitians also bagged IIIrd prize for the Best Interjector in the ‘Edison Convention-2013’ held at DPS –R.K. Puram, New Delhi. Vasundhara Kaul of XI has won the 2nd prize in Global Times IT Photo Contest - 3 All participants of “National Creativity Olympiad” which was held at IIT-Delhi won Rs.1000/- as the prize money for being selected in the Merit list. Level-1 (screening) of the Olympiad was con- ducted at the school. Shruti Garg of VI class won 3rd position and Sheffi Tiwari of class XI won 6th position in the 2nd round held at Navy School, Chanakya Puri, N. Delhi. It is believed that education should enable to widen the perspec- tives of young minds by exposing them to the current realities and BIGGER issues the world is tormented with so that we may collate the energies of youth and steer them in the direction of global leadership. Amity truly provides the launchpad for this transformation towards personalized education by building achievement on discovering individual talents of each child and recognize the whole gamut of human abilities. Nurturing excellence in Education through human values is our endeavour. I congratulate the Chronicler team for giving a great start in this di- rection. ‘Spardha’ - Annual Sports Day

Amity International School, Sector – 46, Gurgaon, celebrated its Annual Sports Day - ‘Spardha’ on the 20th of Decem-

ber, 2013. On a cold and misty day, the staff and students of AIS, 46, warmed up to an exciting and competitive day,

with the welcoming of the chief guests, Mr. Sukhbir Kataria, Honourable Minister of State/ Independent Charge of

Sports and Youth Affairs, Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of Haryana; and Ms. Mamta Kharab, Assistant

Commissioner of Police Traffic, Gurgaon.

A Nukkad Natak, focusing on the women empowerment and education, performed by the children of Youth Power

group, was much appreciated. The Chief Guest Mr. Sukhbir Kataria in his speech said that he was mesmerized by the

show put up and encouraged the students to perform well. highlighting the importance of sports for youngsters.

Satyajyoti Nanda won three (3) Gold Medals as Senior Deba-

tor, Sr. Scholar's Challenger & for being the Champion Stu-

dent (Sr.) in the World Scholar Meet at Yale University, U.S.

in the month of November, 2013. Vaishali Tikoo's Team won

special appreciation in the meet. WSC—Twelve teams from

AIS 46 were selected for the second round to be held at

Singapore.

World Scholar’s Regional round took place at AIS Noida.

Students from classes 4 to 12 participated in the competition

and the school teams displayed enviable talent to capture the

Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively in the Team

Training to meet Fire Disaster

In our bid to train students on disaster management

arising out of emergent and sudden situations fire drill

was conducted in the campus. A demonstration cum

explanation covering do's and don'ts about fire

extinguishing were discussed at length.

Students of Amity International School, Sector-46 added yet another feather to their cap

by bringing accolades in the prestigious 13th Ramanujan Inter-School competition organ-

ized by AIS, Noida on 20th and 21st December, 2013. The competition was organized to

explore and commend exceptional mathematical and logical skills of students. Pupils from

classes 4 to 12 participated in the competition and the school teams comprising of Aheli

Ghosh, Shubham Rana and Daksh Shah from classes 9 and 10, Charvi Aggawal, Sagar

Malik and Mayukh Sinha from Class XII and Arth Bhardwaj, Arushi Jindal, Dhruv Arya, Deepankar Bansal from

classes 4 and 5 displayed enviable talent to capture the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively in the Team events.

Abhimanyu and Shruti Garg also won the Gold and Silver medals in the individual events.

Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurgaon, organized ‘Samanvay’ the old students’ meet on its premises. The alumni

of the school gathered to take a trip down memory lane and relive with nostalgia, the time spent in their alma mater. When

asked to share their views, old students readily shared the difference between school life and the outer world as well as the

challenges it presented. ‘Reminisce’ flipped through the pages of the past ena-

bling the gathering to retrospect on the indelible memories gone by.

The school enlightened its alumni with the changes that had come about in the

school and the progress it had made.

Heritage Month—Kerala Class Assemblies were planned as per Heritage theme and were conducted for classes I-XII. various topics were taken by

different classes like architecture, famous personalities, cuisine, fairs and festivals to showcase different aspects of the heritage

Heritage Work –Ex club conducted various activities like collage making, display board decoration. Pictures of His-

torical Monuments, famous Dances and Musical Instruments, Famous Personalities with information were pasted by

the students in their Heritage Club scrap file.

Display boards were maintained by classes I-XII and covered various aspects of Kerala in the class room.

Classical and regional folk dances like Theyyam , Mohiniiyattam of Kerala were taken up to prepare students.

Information on musical instruments, singers, and Sopana and Malayalam music was given by music department .

Students learnt about various art forms of Kerala like Mural art, Cave paintings , Coconut shell craft and other related

craft like Boat race depiction was done by students in clay modelling also.

Worksheets were discussed on Architecture / Monuments, Art and Craft, Classical dance ,Music and Famous person-

alities during G.K class.

It was an interactive workshop where students shared their experiences related to medical emergen-

cies. The resource people answered their queries on how to deal with such emergencies using Power-

Point presentations, live demonstrations, models and printed- handouts. The students showed keen

interest in learning the skills to save lives of ordinary people who encounter dangers such as seizures,

loss of consciousness (fainting), fractures, burns, choking, heart attack and bleeding.

The resource people made the students understand the importance of time in such ‘situations’ and how

an active and well informed person can save a life by providing immediate and appropriate safety,

medical aid to the victim.

The winter Rendezvous – 2013 held at Amity International School, Sector-46, Gurgaon on December 27th, 2013 was a

great success. The carnival was declared open by the school Principal, Ms. Arti Chopra at 9:30 a.m. The Carnival is a time

for fun, gaiety and mirth in the joy and exuberance of the warm sunny ambience. Children were seen running here and

there to play the exciting games, enjoying the rides and the lip smacking food whereas senior students were enjoying the

pulsating musical sojourn with DJ.

‘Independent I’ Rally - an interact club initiative

The students of AIS Gurgaon 46, have been working on a project

called ‘Independent I’, which focuses on providing vocational train-

ing to women, in the fields of pottery, knitting, English speaking

and baking. In order to generate awareness regarding their cause,

forty students of the school went to Galleria and The Huda City

Centre metro station in Gurgaon on Saturday, 30th November. The

rally included a flash mob and a street play. The students also went

around shouting slogans regarding women empowerment and re-

ceived tremendous encouragement from the crowd.

The students enthralled and engaged the crowds with their out-

standing level of energy and enthusiasm. The people soon joined

the students, with their shouting and expressed their support by

clapping, hooting etc. The experience had a long lasting impact on

everyone, the students, the teachers and hopefully, the society too.

Dec-2013: Taksheel of class II was invited to conduct Workshop on

‘Conservation of Energy and Organic Farming’ at RAJIV GANDHI

RENEWABLE ENERGY PARK (Institute run by State Govt. of

Haryana), wherein he had given his presentation with Songs on Love

for Environment and Solar Cook Recipes and Eco Friendly games.

His workshop flyer was published in a Local newspaper .
