Well-being and Resilience Tasks
Keys elements to well- being include sleep, diet, exercise and mindfulness. Therefore, some of the tasks below will explore this! The tasks can be completed over the next
two weeks. If you decide to send your work or responses to your class teacher please check for accuracy including punctuation and spellings. Enjoy!
The Importance of Sleep
https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/sleep-and-
tiredness/how-much-sleep-do-kids-need/
https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/sleep-and-
tiredness/healthy-sleep-tips-for-children/
Before looking at the links above, keep a sleep
diary for five days. For example, include how
long you slept each night and give it a rating
out of five.
Explore the links above. Design a poster of
sleeping tips using the advice from the
websites above. Please include clear
information and support your advice with
drawings.
Additional activities:
- Test out your own advice! After another five days,
reflect if any of these tips worked?
Kindness calendar
https://www.redcross.org.uk/get-involved/teaching-
resources/five-activities-of-kindness-and-resilience
Create a kindness calendar. On the website
above, there is a link titled ‘power of kindness
calendar’ for a template or you can create
your own. Over the next two weeks, plan and
record an act of kindness for each day. Acts of
kindness, including kind words and deeds, are
essential to promote our own well- being as
well as those around us!
Additional activity:
- Design three acts of kindness that can be completed
every day! Design a logo/emoji for each one.
For example, give a compliment:
Exercise
Design, make or complete an obstacle
course/ fitness routine.
Additional activities:
-Write a reflection on how the course/routine
challenged you. How does exercise make you feel?
What challenges did you have creating the course?
- Complete a workout ‘PE with Joe Wicks’ which is
available Monday to Friday, on You Tube at 9am. It
may give you some ideas for the exercise task!
-Create or complete a dance routine!

Zentangle
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBwHUKHUdD8
Draw a Zentangle. These are patterns are
unplanned, abstract, black-and-white art made
up of beautiful patterns. According to the
trademarked ‘Zentangle Method’, true
Zentangles are always created on 3.5-inch (8.9
cm) square tiles and are always done in black
ink on white paper but the teachers won’t be
checking this! The process of creating a
Zentangle is considered a form of “artistic
meditation.”
Additional activity:
- Draw or paint something that makes you happy or
relaxes you.
Exploring your diet
https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/the-eatwell-
guide/
Explore the eat-well link above and record
what you eat for one day into the following
sections:
Fruit and Vegetables
Starchy foods (carbohydrates)
Dairy
Protein
Unsaturated oils and spreads
High sugar foods
Write a reflection of your diet.
Do you believe it is well-balanced?
Is this normally what you would eat in a day?
Are there any changes you would make?
Are there any food groups that you find hard to eat?
Can this problem be solved?
Additional activity:
-Explore more ways to develop a healthy lifestyle at:
https://www.nhs.uk/change4life
-Make a meal using one of the recipes at:
https://www.nhs.uk/change4life
Resilience
A definition of resilience is ‘the ability to be happy or
successful after something difficult or bad has
happened.’ It is important not to simply just give up!
Social distancing requires resilience! It is not easy!
Record 5 things that you must be resilient to
when social distancing. Explain why it would
be difficult to be resilient and suggest a
solution! Remember the school’s sentence
starters to include instead of ‘I think…’
For example:
Problem: I want to hug my friend.
As far as I am concerned, it would be difficult
because it is how we usually greet each other and it is
a sign of love and friendship. In my opinion, I could
invent an alternative greeting which includes a wave
and thumbs up!
Additional activity:
-Design a cartoon strip where you have overcome a
problem during the lockdown.

activities to support these targets. If you are unsure please email your class teacher or Mrs. Bayliss, who will be able to discuss this with you.
A new Google drive has been created and you will receive an invitation to it via your emails, you will be asked to enter a password which is also found in this email.
When you get to the Google drive you will find lots of videos as described below, which are sorted into weekly folders and then areas of learning folders. All work
can be found on the Google drive. Enjoy.
