Blue Dragon Olympathon Wow! What an event. It was wonderful to see everyone dressed up in the colours of their

country and participate in the day’s activities. A big thank you to the St George Illawarra

Dragons, Wollongong Wolves and our amazing teachers who all held events over the course of

the day. An extra special thank you to Miss Corcoran, Mrs Jolliffe, our Year 6 leaders and SRC

Reps. Thanks to your organisation and dedication, not even the rain on our original date could

spoil the fantastic day we had. A big congratulations to our ‘torch bearers’, who along with

countless other students raised a total of $2200 for our chosen charity, The Blue Dragon

Foundation! What a sensational achievement. Take a look at the following pages in this

newsletter for some great photos of this event.

Book Week Next week is Book Week! Have you organised your child’s costume for the parade on

Thursday? Remember, it does not have to be over the top, a character from any book is

acceptable and encouraged. Parents and loved ones are more than welcome to attend this

parade. If you have not yet paid for the Book Week Performance, please do so by Monday to

ensure your child does not miss out. The $4 can be sent to the front office. The question has

been asked if we ‘will be having a Book Fair?’ in short the answer is yes, just not until later in the

year.

Father’s Day Father’s Day is approaching and our gifts are ready for purchase. The SRC will be holding a

Father’s Day Stall on Thursday 1st September. All gifts will be $5 and if by chance your child

forgets their money on the day there will be layby services available.

Social Media The dangers of social media are once again on our doorstep and we as a community need to

be vigilant. Over the next few weeks our school Facebook page will include examples of how

social media can seem innocent, yet have serious implications. Sites such as ThinkUKnow also

have great information sheets which have previously been included in our newsletters.

If your child is on Social Media and it is a decision you have made as a family, please be

aware that if the incorrect use of this social media spills in to issues at school, we will have no

choice but to follow the School’s Fair Discipline Policy or contact the Police. Please monitor

your children’s accounts if you are allowing them to use Social Media.

Report Survey As part of our continuing reflection at FHPS our executive team has put together a short survey

for feedback on the new reporting format. The survey is still open so if you have not had a

chance to complete it please do so. Please use the following link to complete this survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NL665S9

From the desk of the Principal

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warm Regards,

Skye Hayward

Bookclub Issue 6 closes Sunday 28th August.

Scholastic Bookclub Changes

Cash or cheques will no longer be accepted as payment.

This will vastly reduce the effort involved in managing Bookclub and will allow for quicker delivery of books.

All Bookclub purchases must be done online using the Scholastic Loop Payment Portal.

If you wish to purchase books for a gift and would like the option to pick up from the School Office, there is now an

option to select this when you order online.

If you have any queries or require assistance, please contact the Bookclub Coordinator Rebecca Anderson on

0412469343.
