How to book
Once you have decided which tour is right for you, contact your local travel agent or visit our website. To secure your place on one of our tours you will be required to pay a deposit of $150 per person. make sure that before finalising your holiday, you thoroughly evaluate all the options available and make reservations well in advance to be sure of securing your preferred arrangements.
For full terms and conditions refer to page 51.
Not included
We wish we could include everything in the one price for you but expenses of a personal nature such as beverages, travel insurance, laundry, optional sightseeing, lunches and morning or afternoon teas are not included in the tour cost.
Travelling alone
At Kirra Holidays we know that a Kirra Coach Tour Holiday is a great way to meet new people and make new friends. We encourage those travelling alone to join us and the many other travellers on our tours as we showcase new Zealand.
As a single traveller we give you the option of a guaranteed single room when you purchase the single supplement. Alternatively, as a single traveller paying the twin share price, we will match you with another traveller of the same gender or provide a single room at no extra cost. Whilst we do try our best to match individuals together, we remind you that selecting this option, compatibility cannot be guaranteed and this offer is conditional on acceptance of this factor. Single travellers on a request twin share basis may secure a single room whilst on tour in the event that there are no other single travellers of the same gender. Additional pre and post tour accommodation is always at the single occupancy price.
TranzAlpine winter schedule
During the winter months part of the TranzAlpine journey on the greymouth -Christchurch trip may be in darkness. Tranz Scenic does not operate train services on Christmas Day and do schedule routine track maintenance which in this case alternate coach transport is provided.
Triple discountWhen sharing 3 people to the same room a saving of 5% applies to your tour price. If you also require pre and post accommodation we have prices available on request. please note
most room configurations are double or twin in which case the third bed is likely to be a rollaway. We are unable to cater for 4 adults wishing to share one room. A triple discount does not apply to tours including the milford Sound or Doubtful Sound Overnight Cruise.
Children's options
We will take care of the whole family on a Kirra Coach Tour when travelling with children 2-15 years of age. based on a room with 2 adult fare paying travellers, children will be charged at $115 per day of tour. In the event only one adult is travelling with the child, the adult must pay the single room supplement for children’s prices to apply.
please note that whilst Kirra Holidays will accept reservations for up to 2 adults and 2 children to share the one room, room size in some hotels is restricted and 3rd and 4th beds are likely to be rollaway style. Whilst the savings are substantial, some compromise is made in regard to comfort.
Optional activities whilst on tour will be calculated at children’s prices, train options will charge 50% of the full fare for children aged 2-14.
Note: Child’s age is calculated at the date travel commences as shown in the passport. Surcharges apply for children when on a tour incorporating the milford Sound Overnight Cruise, ask Kirra Tours for details.
Seat rotation plan
When you travel on a Kirra Coach Tour your Coach Captain maintains a daily seat rotation plan to ensure you get to know all your travelling
companions and enjoy the scenery from a different vantage point each day. We cannot guarantee particular seats for any passengers due to this rotation policy. If you have particular concerns please seek further advice from your consultant.
Smoking policy
All our coach tours are smoke free and are restricted to smoking during the frequent sightseeing, photographic and comfort stops. We request non-smoking hotel rooms for the comfort of our entire tour group. Travellers who prefer accommodation without such limitations are asked to make their preference known when making reservations and again at the beginning of their tour. please note that due to varying hotel policies on this subject it is not possible to guarantee either option, however we will make all reasonable efforts to satisfy individual needs. The majority of hotels in new Zealand are 100% smoke free.
The weather and what to wear
new Zealand enjoys a temperate climate; comfortably warm summers and cooler winters, frost and snow is not uncommon in the southern mountains. Rainfall is spread fairly evenly throughout the year. We recommend wearing layers that are comfortable and casual as many new Zealand buildings are fitted with central heating /cooling. Don’t forget comfortable walking shoes and a folding umbrella (just in case). For dining out in new Zealand, neat casual clothing is acceptable.
A LITTLe PLANNINg gOeS A LONg WAYAt Kirra Holidays we know a Coach Tour is the very best way to see and enjoy at an easy pace all the wonderful scenery and activities New Zealand has to offer. All you need to do is simply select the itinerary of your choice then your travel agent and Kirra Holidays staff will take care of all the necessary arrangements to ensure you have an enjoyable and most memorable holiday.

with wonderful weather and some good travelling companions. The trip was made even more special by gordon our Coach Captain, he was brilliant and such good fun. If you are able to pass messages on to nZ please tell Kirra Tours that he is a diamond and that he should be a coach major rather than captain!!
