BUSTING THE MYTHS

FACT: For most T.E.A.C.H. scholarship models, the recipient is required to complete at least 9credit hours for the contract year to be eligible for compensation, which might be issued as araise or a bonus. If necessary, contracts can be extended for an additional semester so that theminimum number of credits can be completed and the recipient can be eligible forcompensation.

MYTH: THE T.E.A.C.H. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM REQUIRES ME TOTAKE 9 CREDIT HOURS EACH SEMESTER.

FACT: T.E.A.C.H. does not have a specific scholarship model for just EDU 119. The scholarshipprogram does support tuition costs for the EDU 119 class under many of our existing scholarshipmodels.

MYTH: T.E.A.C.H. DOES NOT HAVE A CREDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOREDU 119, WHICH MEANS THAT T.E.A.C.H. WILL NOT SUPPORT TUITIONCOSTS FOR THIS COURSE.

FACT: The information on the ACH Form is only used by CCSA to make direct deposits inscholarship recipients and/or sponsors bank accounts when the scholarship program owes themmoney. The ACH Form will never be used by CCSA to withdraw money from a bank account.

MYTH: THE ACH FORM, WHICH ALLOWS FOR SCHOLARSHIPPAYMENTS TO BE SENT ELECTRONICALLY, WILL ALLOW T.E.A.C.H. TOWITHDRAW MONEY FROM RECIPIENT AND SPONSOR ACCOUNTS TOAPPLY PAYMENTS FOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM INVOICES.

"Hello, my name is Precious Powell. I was born andraised in Charlotte, N.C. I am the mother of a lovingand bright 12-year-old daughter. I have 16 plus yearsof experience with young children. The majority ofmy teaching career was in NC Pre-K. I startedteaching in NC Pre-K 18 years ago as a co-teacher.Over the years, with hard work and dedication, I amcurrently a lead SP2 teacher in NC Pre-K.

"Needless to say, the T.E.A.C.H. program played amajor role in my life as I accomplished and am stillworking towards my goals. I am a T.E.A.C.H.scholarship recipient that received my associate, halfof my bachelor’s degree, my BK License andcurrently my master’s degree. I received myAssociate Degree in Early Childhood at CentralPiedmont Community College. I received myBachelor of Arts Degree in Education at CatawbaCollege. Shortly afterward I received my Bachelor ofArts in Education, I attended UNC-C to obtain myBirth through Kindergarten License. Currently, I amattending UNC-G to obtain my Master's Degree inLeadership.

RECIPIENT CHECKLIST

Send in your signed contract to activateyour scholarship. This document MUST bereceived before any scholarship activitycan occur.Send your Request for Permission toRelease Information. You must check oneof the boxes, granting or denying uspermission to release personalinformation. Remember to sign and datethis document.You MUST send your Form B with itemizedreceipts for tuition and book if applicableevery semester. You should be able toaccess itemized tuition statements fromSelf Service or Web-Advisor. Itemizedbook receipts should be obtained fromthe bookstore or your online purchaser.

T.E.A.C.H. NC wants to help ensure your academic success by including an abbreviatedrecipient checklist in this section of semester reminders. “Semester reminders” are our way ofcalling your attention to some of the more important aspects of the scholarship process. Thesechecklist items, if ignored, can pause or delay your scholarship process. If you need furtherexplanation about any of these items please feel free to contact your scholarship counselor.

If you receive an invoice, please makesure it is paid on or before the due date. Ifnot, this may pause your scholarship. Ifyou are not able to pay the invoice in full,please call our office to discuss paymentoptions.Send your unofficial transcript at the endof each semester. Please make sure youridentifying information and the schoolsidentifying information are on thedocument. Please DO NOT write orhighlight on the document itself.When submitting an ACH Form for directdeposit payments, please complete theACH Form fully and submit it with avoided check or bank letter/formverifying the accounts number.
