Task 4 What types of magazine and target audiences has IPC been associated with over the years? The Field launched in 1853 and within a year became the largest newspaper in Europe, with 24 pages. It has been associated with magazines such as these: in the late 1800s: Country Life , Horse & Hound , Shooting Times , Yachting World , Amateur Gardening , Cycling Weekly , Amateur Photographer and The Railway Magazine . Why might IPC be an appropriate publisher for a new music magazine? They may be an appropriate publisher in my opinion because they already hold genres from sport to hobbies to fashion, therefore have gained a diverse variety of audiences and appeal to the masses. They appeal to all age groups and would easily attract more customers easily. So therefore I believe they may be appropriate as they already have the fan base and are national known which would help a new music magazine. What sorts of genres of music/types of magazines might they be likely to publish? I think IPC may only publish certain genres of music magazines, such as classical music. This may feature something like BBC music, as they already produce quite upper-class magazines, examples are; Woman’s Weekly and Horse & Hound.

Task 4

What types of magazine and target audiences has IPC been associated with over the years?

The Field launched in 1853 and within a year became the largest newspaper in Europe, with 24 pages.

It has been associated with magazines such as these:

in the late 1800s: Country Life, Horse & Hound, Shooting Times, Yachting World, Amateur Gardening, Cycling Weekly, Amateur Photographer and The Railway Magazine.

Why might alternative publishers like Bauer be appropriate?

Bauer media is well known for their wide range of young modern magazines and radio channels. They show different types of media which is aimed at a younger audience, therefore I believe that Bauer could be appropriate for a new music magazine.
