Managing 12 grants and has been with the Federal Government since April 2006.
Prior to coming to the SBA, her professional career focus was in the field of disability and mental health with over ten years of experience specializing in youth services. In 2006, Shadetra began her Federal career working for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services before moving to the Small Business Administration (SBA) 3 years ago to the SBA Office of International Trade. Ms. Robinson has a Master’s in Education, M.ED, and a BS in Psychology from Howard University

The diverse responsibilities of his unit include: everything from export assistance to establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with the foreign business and government community.
The International Business Development and Protocol office provides, at no cost to New Jersey companies, trade assistance in export related areas, foreign market intelligence, commercial diplomacy, assistance in overcoming trade barriers; and resources in identifying export market opportunities.
Mr. Mayen has a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from the College of New Jersey, is fluent in Spanish and a 10+ year veteran of the US Army and the NJ National Guard.

What is STEP?
New Jersey State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP)
NJ STEP program: 2012-2014
In 2012, U.S. Small Business Administration (US SBA) awarded New Jersey a STEP grant in the amount of $203,431 to support the export initiatives of “eligible small business concerns.”
In the end, the NJ STEP program produced the following results: Actual export sales by reporting companies were $3,619,550.
NJ STEP program: 2012-2014
Return on Investment (ROI) for the NJ STEP program was 17.79 : 1
Our projected ROI when the State submitted its proposed program was 6.8 : 1.
The State exceeded its initial projected ROI by more than 160%.

How to apply
New Jersey State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP)
NJ STEP program: 2014-2015
The new award came with revised criteria established by the U.S. SBA.
STEP support placed an emphasis on the ROI of the activities that support each State’s overall proposed milestone goals.
Core standards from the previous program have been maintained: 1) Profitable in the 12 months prior to receiving a STEP sub-grant; 2) In existence for more than one year; and 3) “Small” as defined by the SBA.
NJ STEP program: 2014-2015
Further, applicants are requested to project export sales and numbers of new hires if any.
All of which is evaluated by the Office to award the most deserving New Jersey exporters STEP support.
The results through today’s date are as follows: $32,665 have been awarded to companies projecting over $2,000,000 of exports and 24 new hires.

Upon completion of your event, we require:
1. Submit evidence of paid receipts for costs incurred
2. Brief report on results of event (sales, meetings, projections, leads etc.)
3. Going forward, brief quarterly updates on export sales and/or jobs created, retained
